My second physical media post:
As before, I rolled a die, though this time, I was picking from a box of CDs Iāve been given, to take care of by a lovely friend, @emonby
Theyāve given me a few more items/small boxes to take care of, so they are separate from the collection I currently have.
This die that I had chosen is one I got so long ago. I think I should document these before I forget their origin as well. Though, for this blood-splattered set, I donāt remember. I think it was from Die Hard Dice. I really enjoy āem.
[Sidenote: I remember finding out about them through a youtuber who made resin dice and silicone dice mold. His name is Rybonator, I remember trying to make dice and silicone molds, however, I very much did not use a lot of correct things, so I have quite a few strange creations and interesting mistakes. Anyways.]
I laid out the CDs on a little metal baking sheet, one that I donāt think should be in this area.
I rolled and got the 8th album. It picked the album āThe Singles 1992 - 2003ā by No Doubt.
When I first saw this album, I was under the impression that I had not listened to any of their music or known of them.
Also if it were to roll a 10, Iād probably just pick the first album. Or just re-roll, time will tell.
[Sidenote: As I am writing this, I remember I was supposed to re-listen to the Micheal Penn album. I feel like I did, it was alright, still nothing exciting. Except I kept listening to it at night and it kept making me tired. Perhaps I can train myself to sleep to the album.]
When I first looked over this album, I had no idea who No Doubt were. I still, at this time, have only HEARD of Gwen Stefani but did not associate her with this band, as I didnāt know of the band itself. So, I know zero big achievements they may have accomplished, together or separately (that also goes for Gwen herself). Feel free to let me know anything interesting about this band, the members, or the songs itself.
By the way, I rolled for and listened to this album on the 21 of January of this year, around midnight, so it was fully listened to on the 22 of January. Iāve listened to it off of the disk quite a few times since then. Iām also sorting the CDs onto a playlist, of disks Iāve listened to & disks Iāve been lent/given. That way I do not have to worry about forgetting. I also have a little sheet for anything Iāve only newly experienced (however, having heard a song or two doesnāt count as having listened to it before, only the full album as a full experience counts) so I do not forget. Or at least have the ability to look back.
[Sidenote: Apparently the best place to obtain a record player is at a record shop, or so Iāve been told. Personally, I have a ton of inherited vinyls that I want to put into some protected sheets/sleeves{?}.
I also have some vhs-s{? Vhses? Just vhs? vhss?} that I really want to restore or perhaps be sent off to restore. They were stored on a shelf against a wall and apparently a pipe leaked and no one really cared about that happening⦠Seems to be a continued trait. The only reason I even have them is I asked if I could take them and I was told āYesā.
I think the pipe is still leaking, the shelf rotting, and those poor tapes left there are probably still degrading. Quite a few of them are in boxes. I wish I could have someone repair the tapes and recreate the boxes. I donāt think the boxes are worth saving in the condition they are in. Plus I feel it would be a risk of spreading any mold or something in the paper.]
When listening to the album, I realized I had heard some of their songs!! I was so happy and interested to see what other songs I knew. One song gave me flashbacks to dance class.
The songs I knew were: āJust A Girlā, āItās My Lifeā(I think Iād listened to the original song, not sure if I had listened to this cover before), āHey Babyā, and āDonāt Speakā.
I enjoyed them enough to remember them, so of the new songs that I listened to, Iād say I currently really like is āNewā, coincidentally. My note that I wrote for this is: āIt feels like when you discover something and you want everything and you want to learn and you WANT IT ALL. The addictiveness of fascination and interest in a thing.ā.
Right now, Iād say that note feeling is like when youāre trying to get yourself to enjoy a new flavour, to get to the deeper flavours. Almost exactly like when I was trying to get myself to like black licorice candy. It was a mix of them. The more intense flavours were at the bottom of the container but you had to throw yourself into this shocking uncomfortable new-ness (or is it just newness?).
This is not how I felt about the song, thatās just what I was thinking about when thinking of discovering something new, personally. I want to dive head first into stuff without any kind of care in the world and only focus on that one thing.
Anyways, the song feels obsessive and desperate, in a wonderful way, maybe thatās why I like it so much. Itās like looking at something under a microscope and studying it, feeling that building excitement. Though, I find obsessiveness within myself very annoying. Itās fun but too dangerous when left to run wild, with me at least.
If it wasnāt obvious, will I listen to this album again? Absolutely. Itās a collection of the best of No Doubt from 1992 to 2003, of course itās awesome. I love it very much hehehehehe. There are definitely more hidden songs within their discography.
Once more, if you find anything interesting or have something to comment on, share below, thank you for reading this review. I currently have 6ish albums I have listened to and would enjoy sharing.
renters should get the house they live in and landlords should kill themselves
Pikachu in a scrunchy outfit (literally, those are scrunchies)
I thought Pikachu looked like a mushroom and my friend thought of those old fashioned clowns.
One of those 3D Stickers, found on the ground of a bathroom entrance. It kinda reminds me of a Soot Sprite. Very cute.
If anyone knows what sticker pack itās from, that would be neat to know. I am not particularly interested in buying one but I enjoy knowing and seeing what other stickers it came with.
My first physical media post:
I rolled a d20 to see what CDs to go through, I got a 17 and a 6.
The 17 was to see how far down to go on the CD Tower I have and the 6 was to see which side I was picking (Even was CDs I bought and Odd was CDs gifted to me).
Most of the physical music I have(and physical media I have in general), I havenāt listened to or looked through, it feels so overwhelming to just pick, so I let the dice decide.
[Sidenote: I also have two other CD Towers, one that has CDs Iāve inherited and the other is empty cases. Iām currently sorting through boxes and finding random cases and disks alike. Also Question: Do books count for physical media? Because I very much am.
I also have records but no record player. I do not care about the price, I just want one that I can record the music playing off of it & have the least damage done to the vinyl itself. Also what do music boxes count as? Anyways]
It picked the album āMarchā by Michael Penn. I hadnāt listened to this album, I think I got it from a thrift store that has since sadly closed :(
My favourite song was the fourth track, āBrave New Worldā. The fifth track was good too. The album itself wasnāt really my type of music that I usually listen to but, I enjoyed listening to it.
Will I listen to it again? Probably not, but I do want to upgrade my laptop and get something(mp3/4 player? Idk what people use, I just donāt have the space on my phone or laptop to download all of it) to download all my CDs onto so I donāt have to rely on gosh dang music platforms that donāt pay the artists enough.
The rest of the pages were lyrics to the songs. Also the second photo isnāt washed out because of the lighting, it just looks like that. Oh also the booklet is the front cover, usually itās a little booklet, in case ya didnāt know.
Yeah, it was alright. Let me know if you know more about this album, the art on the cover, or anything interesting about the musician.
(Sidenote: I donāt know SQUAT about this album besides looking at the cover and thinking āNeatā & āthe ides of Marchā¦ā¦ mmmmmā )
Also I wish there were more colour to highlight words, Iām on mobile and these are the only colours. I want yellow or a grosser green, or cyan or whatever. Itās fine tho
Edit: it could also be that Iām tired, Iāll see if I like it better when Iām more awake.
print āhello worldā
Anywho, hi. Iām most likely going to use this blog to post about:
physical media(that I have and want to preserve),
going over that media and just saying āyea, itās alrightā or something of the sorts,
me attempting to repair/take apart electronics,
posting photos of whatever, thought it will most likely be my cat or any interesting bugs/plants/art,
asking questions about shit that could easily be found out with a search engine,
Oh hell yeah bullet points
However, it will probably VERY quickly devolve into me yammering on about: [character] from [whatever media is a current worm taking over my brain] & whatever dumb stuff Iām doing that day. Teeheeeheheheeee
hello world, momoishii here. Or momo, or oishii
Oh wait you can colour the fuckin words??
Iām gonna be so annoying lmao, this is awesome.
Also I like stuff but usually not enough to delve into extreme research, unless yall count goddamn YouTube and Wikipedia as deep dives. I like stuff passively but Iām extremely forgetful until Iām reminded. Then Iām like āoh SHIT I LOVE that :0ā (most of the time).
- momoishii (I donāt think Iāll end my posts with this, idk what Iām doing)
Edit: oh also my current icon is the back pocket to a pair of jeans I own and the banner is my delightful cat
