Paypal Invoicing: Seller Beware

There’s been a lot of posts going around lately about Paypal and their policy on fees, and I’ve seen a lot of people suggesting you move to invoices. What you might not realise unless you have a closer look at these payments once you receive them, is that Paypal is expecting you to ship an item. This remains the same regardless of whether you use the default form, the ‘services’ form and charge by the hour, and whether you put 0.00 in the postage section.

After a call to customer service this morning, I have confirmed there is actually no option on invoices for a seller to indicate that postage is not required if you are invoicing from the main paypal website (ie. you don’t do paypal checkout through your website, there may be a work around if you have a purchase button on your website, which isn’t entirely practical for commissions as prices can often vary and most do payments through the site directly). This means that if you don’t provide shipping / tracking information on that payment, Paypal may freeze the funds and/or your account.

Apparently the way to avoid this is to include in the notes section of the invoice that the invoice is for goods and services, and that no shipping is required. 

They also said that the buyer should indicate in the notes when they pay that they have received the goods/service, however this is going to cause issues with commissions as most are either paid upfront or partway through. 

If anyone has any further solution to this, reblog and or message me, but otherwise this has been a PSA about Paypal invoicing. Seller beware.

Guys the struggle is real and I am learning this now.  Make sure you write that your goods are digital in your invoices so your account does not freeze.

The way I manage my invoices isn’t just to specify under the note,

But also to choose this option when the payment has been sent and the commission has been completed 

So it can be counted as complete.

My baby Severin. He is a Akriri/Birdfolk, a closed species by Kel-Del

He is made out of minky and faux fur, with embroidered details. The wooden beads and headband are handpainted. The plushie stands roughly 45cm high and he can sit perfectly balanced on his own, even without the tail. His special feature is a voice tube inside his belly, that makes peeping noices when he is moved!

I think this is my favorite Umbreon so far. The black and pink combination looks dashing and the eyes have a stronger glow.

Plush maker's pet peeves

-When the fur fabric gets stuck in the seams or under eyeballs etc. and you have to spend ages brushing it out.

-When you’ve run out of thread on the bobbin but don’t notice for at least 5cm

-That cheep icky “fun” fur fabric that goes awful after about 2 seconds, and seeing other people use it to make otherwise amazing plushies just because they don’t know any better.

-I personally hate leaving any unfinished fur fabric edges exposed on finished plushies, and it makes me cringe when I see other artists do this because I just know it’s gonna shed or fray.

-When you cut pieces out and the fur is going the wrong direction because you messed up. You checked so many times but still got it wrong.

-Fur sheddings everywhere. Up your nose. In your bed. In your PC.

-Threads breaking. Sewing machine chewing things up. AAAAH.

-When the stuffing doesn’t go where you want it to, or when it clumps.

-When it comes out wonky for no reason despite pinning, tacking, making sure the fabric is perfectly mirrored, all pieces cut out neatly and evenly. Still, it twists to the right.

-Glue+fur fabric. Just no.

 - Dropping a needle and it disappears into Narnia. Where will it show up again? Embedded in your unsuspecting flesh, no doubt … 

- When safety eyes with slit pupils are just slightly crooked resulting in permanent derpface.

 - The first ear is perfect. The second one looks like it was sewed by a baboon using it’s feet.

 - Trimming fur beautifully and then suddenly WHOOPS too far.

- “Where did I put that pattern piece?” the Game

- Sewing the wrong bits together, unpicking it, then doing the exact same thing again.

- “Maybe I can just get away with sewing this bit without tacking first”

-When your embroidery machine makes a gap in its stitch for no reason

-when you run out of stuffing half way through a project because you “swore you had another bag”

-stuffing and then finding holes in seams you nicked when trimming

- accidentally snipping outside of the seam while trimming and having to redo the piece after it’s all sewn together

- running out of bobbin thread halfway through an embroidered piece

- not cutting perfectly on the grain line and pieces come out twisted

-FABRIC.COM PUTTING STICKERS ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF MINKY

-not realizing there’s an imperfection in your minky until after you’ve cut the part out

-no perfect color for your project

My newest creation is a small Jolteon. I always love sewing my favorite Pokemon <3

I tried out something new for the eyes. I trimed the minky down for this and used a normal sewing mashine to embroider the stars (which sounds way easier then it is). I really like the simple look of it. It is perfect for small plushies that are supposed to look simple.

the current bane of my life, is the sheer amount of goddamn dust that fabric produces

I’m dusting everything I own once a day, and it’s just not enough ;____; everything has a constant, fine coating of fuzzy dust and I can guarantee that this isn’t good for my lungs

Are you talking about minky,or are you currently using something else? Because I never realised minky produces any kind of dust, beside the bigger fluffy chunks when you cut the fabric. Maybe the dust comes from something else, like the stuffing you use?
