For the first time since school started, Támar felt herself able to relax and breeze through her classes like normal. It'd been a relatively easy week, and she could not wait for school to let out so she could get her weekend started.
As she'd done for the past week, she met up with and had lunch with Landyn who was becoming a fast friend. While they both passed little flirty comments at one another, the two quickly decided that they'd be better as friends. Landyn wouldn't say it to her, but he could tell that her attention just might lie elsewhere, even if she didn't think or say it. He was also bisexual, and even though Támar showed no issue with it, he didn't want to lead her on should he find interest elsewhere as the school year went on.
Towards the end of the day, she met up with her sister and best friend to get a little gossip in. It had officially been announced the evening before that three of their favorite artists were going on tour together, and the girls were beginning their plot to get to the main event.
Selena, Támar's mother, would only say 'no' because it was over three hours away. Támar felt it would take nothing to convince her mother, she'd even rope her grandparents in if she had to since they lived in the city where the concert was happening.
Kerri's issue; her father, that still treated her as if she were incapable of making decisions for herself. Though she rarely asked Támar to assist, this was something she could NOT miss, and she'd go behind his back if she had to.
Maxine would be the one to have the least issues getting approval. Her struggle? Money. But she need not worry, Támar had a thought for that too, especially after talking things over with Landyn.
After school, and because she didn't have to work, Támar rushed home to relax and bombarde her mother with sweet talk. She took a moment to check the mailbox.
Pulling out a single envelope, she could only chuckle and shake her head. It had been years since she'd seen her father's name on any type of document pertaining to her. She reread it, just to make sure her mother's name wasn't addressed. Seeing nothing but her own, she shoved the envelope into her jacket pocket. She would be tossing it in the trash once she got to her room.
Once Selena got home from work, she took about an hour to herself and got a workout in.
Then ... she was attacked by two teenage girls. Lovingly, she asked them to calm down and allow her to instruct. Naturally, because she was her child, Támar got first dibs. This was okay with Kerri, since she was starving and wanted to eat and gather her nerves because she approached her stepmother with what was going to be a massive request.
Támar pounced immediately once she and her mother were alone, pulling no stops as she announced what she wanted and ALL the plans she had to make it happen.
Selena was reluctant. She used the fact that the main artist performing was a bit raunchy and explicit as an excuse, but truly she was scared for her babies to be away by themselves.
Then, Kerri approached with a more sweet and gentle tone. Her cheeky smile gave her away instantly, and Selena shook her head when announcing that Kerri needed to talk to her father on her own.
While their marriage was in a decent place; Kerri's father had made it clear years ago that major decisions about Kerri were to be decided upon by him and her birth mother. The very birth mother that rarely wanted anything to do with Kerri. Selena used to protest, but she eventually grew tired.
Every now and then she'd help Kerri as best as she could, but sometimes she felt it wasn't worth the fuss her husband would make over his child.
Kerri's eyes grew larger than Selena thought they could, her pretty smile tugging at her heart. It would be very unfair for the 17 year old to miss out, especially if Támar had talked her way into being allowed to go a good distance unsupervised by adults.
She made no promises, but she would try. Smiles were uncommon for Támar, and Kerri rarely frowned or walked around sad. She loved to see them full of life and excited for future plans.
Selena wanted both of her babies to be happy.
** this is tentatively the new format. I'll still insert additional dialogue if there's more I want them to say outside of the photo posts, but I want to see how this works out for a while. some posts will be shorter, some will be longer.
