biography:
Monique's mom was only sixteen when she gave birth to her daughter, she didn't live with her mom for long. At six months she was given away to her aunt who was a little bit older and had her life together. She was in a serious relationship and suddenly, Monique had two parents. She was always aware of the family dynamics, though. It had never been a secret she was brought up with her aunt and uncle, plus it was better off. Maria never grew out of her immaturity, whilst it was easy for her aunt Alana to take the wheels.
Stability only came because of her aunt and uncle, and she did okay in school because of this, however Monique only really found her true passion when Alana enrolled her in dance classes as a child. You name it, she did it. Ballet, hip hop, contemporary, jazz, everything. And when she wasn’t doing that, she was doing gymnastics, and putting on homemade shows for her parents. In true only child fashion. She was spoiled and loved by both of them.
Monique enrolled into Juilliard and moved to New York straight after graduating high school. She enjoyed every minute of it and it only gave her more motivation to want to do this full time even though it wasn’t a ‘typical job” in everyone else’s eyes. She knew she was born for this and ttruly couldn't imagine herself doing anything else.
Monique was quick to move to LA after graduation and started to audition places, eventually landing herself on tour with Rihanna, she was that good. It always came effortlessly to her and she was quickly learning just how lucky she was to actually be living her dream. This started incredible opportunities for her and she spent her of her mid-twenties touring with the biggest stars in the world.
Over this time, Mon fell in love with one of her managers, he was much older than her and had a lot of money so it looked like a typical Hollywood relationship to the outside but the pair were very much in love despite what his children, who were her age thought. Neither of them cared, they just wanted to be together. Until a terrible hospital admission where they found out he was sick. At this point the pair were engaged, however, he died before there was a chance to put her in his will.
Heartbreak wasn’t over for Monique, not long after her fiancée passed away, whilst she was on tour a fan snuck up on stage and stabbed her. This did damage to her bladder and required her to have a urostomy bag. Being incredibly self absorbed, this quite literally ruined Monique. The doctors promised her that one day she would be able to have a reversal, but she needed to heal.
Unable to go back on tour due to the trauma of it all she moved back to Aurora Bay to somewhat recover. She danced at local studios to keep her stamina up but it wasn’t the same when she hated her body. It was a whole year later that her medical team finally agreed. So as soon as she was healed from that surgery, Monique was ready to dance again, becoming a celebrity choreographer and splitting her time between Aurora Bay and Los Angeles.
