I’ve seen a few moots reblog this one. I almost did myself when I saw it the other day, but something about it just felt off.
The flat shading on the skin
Aside from skin, everywhere else is very streaky when you look a bit closer. Usually ai trying to be “painterly” renders out like this
Usually you can tell something is ai just based off the vibe. Ai seems to love a warmer palette for some reason. It also love to add soft lighting (ie that headlight was a huge giveaway. Both the light itself and the way it’s rendered around it)

where’s the spirit portal? Most people, drawing this era of korrasami, with republic city in the background, would include the spirit portal. It’s of course completely possible that an artist could forget it or simply not want to put it there, but considering everything else… “put waterfront city in front of mountains in background”

I went to their profile, checked to see if they mentioned anything in their bio about ai or being an artist. Nothing there. Most (not all) artists that I’ve seen on here have something relating to being an artist in their bio. I scrolled down a bit. This person has been inactive since about 2018 also. Then this.
this is so egregiously ai lol. Remember what I said about warm palettes and random glowy light
those string lights. Especially below the feet. Where tf are they going
if an artist could render this well then they wouldn’t make the mistake of the light source and the shadows not aligning at all. I know we all joke “never ask a man his salary, a woman her weight, or me my light sources” lmao but come on. Even we wouldn’t put the fucking sun behind the subject and then render it like the light is directly above it

its still muddy in places
still flat or downright no shading on the face, especially compared to the rest of the body
her right hand is unsettling. I know hands are hard even for us but why is there a forefinger where her thumb is meant to be
buuuut yeah. I’m not telling anyone to go pick a fight but unfortunately you just have to be aware of what you’re looking at these days. It fucking sucks that I felt like I kind of had to make this. Mutuals that I know want to rip out ai’s fake water guzzling throat with their teeth havent noticed it. I miss when I could look at things online and not have to question whether it was real or not.
