man I can put all my drama here and it's better than twitter
a friend pointed out, I have a weird way of coping for a break-up
I suddenly become diligent
you see it coming, but you always hope it doesn’t
Poem Dump/Rejects xD
How quick is it? that people jump to soc-med to vent rather than talk about it?
I've forgotten every name and all I remember are faces of ghosts that used to call me a friend. I do not know if it was me or them who was at fault, but I guess after parting we severed everything into wild gestures and unannouced meetings, yet I cannot be sad for them not trying, I didn't even try myself, but as much as they didn't try, the more I felt insignificant in their lives. I've always thought that befreinding someone would mean having a meaning in their life, but acquaintanceship and friendship are two different things. Here I wallow on my own shortcomings.

Seriously what the fuck you spent money on those donate to a homeless shelter instead you fucking demons
This is more common than you may think. Many urban areas that have high homeless populations are using “defensive architecture” more and more. Sloped and divided benches to keep the homeless from sleeping on them. Spikes placed in sheltered areas where they tend to stay. City planners argue they are only trying to relocate the homeless, pushing them to see out shelters and homeless centers. But that rings hollow. They just want them out of sight. I don’t have a simple, easy solution. But this isn’t it. Making things harder for the homeless does not help them.
All these corporations have so much money to spend it on putting spikes on places where homeless people sleep yet absolutely NOTHING goes to those who are homeless. This country really doesn’t give a fuck about the well being of homeless people at all
this is heartbreaking fr .
By the way you can remove these spikes with wither a sledgehammer and a heavy metal spike (sharpened crowbar with a downwards slant and the handle removed or something similar) or a concrete saw if you’ve got one of those. It’s illegal to do but it also only takes about an hour if there aren’t too many spikes.
Alternatively, if you put a mattress over them they become useless, although you do risk having the city take the mattress. Normally they don’t reinstall the spikes if you keep removing them.
As for the benches, a concrete or hand held circular saw can cut off the arm rests of the benches with too many arm rests to sleep on. Just remember: Wear protective goggles and practice proper safety if using power tools. All of this stuff can be bought at Home Depot or your local variant of Home Depot.
For legal purposes I have to advise you that this is illegal and I’m not advising you to do this.
remember: they can’t catch you if you’re faster than they are!
Also!! If you wear a hard hat- orange construction vest and carry a clipboard people are more likely to believe your legit and not call the cops on you
ok, that last one is pretty good advice
Also, it is literally cheaper to house a homeless person than to build one of these. We need to get together enough of the people who decide to put these things up and get it through their skulls that together if they put the money they would otherwise spend on each building this into actually housing the homeless, it would be cheaper and they would look good doing it and it would deal with the homeless using their buildings and benches as shelter. (I would use the argument of compassionate and human rights, but as evidenced from these devices, rubbing two empathy cells together is too much for these douchebags)
Prosperity gospel and extreme protestantism are the real issue.
They don’t care that it costs more, because housing people would be giving people something they haven’t earned.
And dealing with that cruel element in our society is inevitably going to take time.
I just read an article about a town that went, ‘well, treating homeless for Covid, etc is really hard.’ So they bought an empty hotel to house people, so they can treat them (for Covid, & other problems). They literally realized it was cheaper & more effective to buy a hotel & stabilize housing than try a homeless shelter (many of which use large room dormitory-style beds) or try to chase down transients to get them treatment.
Multiple programs have proved, solve the housing 1st & the rest will follow.
Housing first is the solution.
Look.
I don’t like seeing people sleeping in the street either. I really don’t.
But I don’t want them to be moved on to anywhere but a bed.
And lets not forget, hostile architecture isn’t just a discriminatory waste of money against homeless people, it’s also ableist as fuck.
The first “Sloped bench” is so impractical, it doesn’t even look like you can sit on it comfortably so it’s useless as a bench. All that just to hide the homeless…
I do voluntary work of assistence to people who sleep in the streets, in a city that thankfully does NOT implement such measures. And if it did, it would be a disaster because the main reasons homeless people don’t go to shelters are 1) there aren’t enough spots available and 2) mistrust towards the competent institutions. Spikes and modified benches would definitely not resolve the first point, and probably worsen things with the second. I doubt that, in whatever country these pictures have been taken, things would go much differently.
If anyone is interested to an actual way of taking care of the homelessness problen, check out the Housing First program, they have a lot of research supporting them.
Sadly I think this is in the US where in most places you can even be arrested for vagrancy (Homelessness).
@thenightling This is absurd. For all the problems my country (Italy) has, we don’t have any law against homelessness, I mean, we even have ‘avvocati della strada’, ‘street lawyers’ in charge of assisting homeless people who can’t afford legal help in the case they need it. Pretending to punish people for not finding a job that pays enough for a home is complete nonsense.
Oh, America has some f–ked up laws. You can even be fined or charged with a crime for giving food and water to the homeless or leaving food out for them without a license. Priests have been arrested for doing that near the Mexican border because it “encourages” illegal immigrants.
@thenightling WHAT. Distributing food and water (and, since February, masks) is exactly what we do for voluntary work, and the only license we need is the one that explains why we are around past curtfew since the pandemic started.
What can I say … I’m sorry for this situation.
Yeah, you need a “license” to legally help the poor in the US otherwise they find an excuse to consider it a crime. Handing a hotdog to a homeless person in most US citiies is a crime unless you’re an official charity. It’s stupid and corrupt.
I just looked it up, and apparently the Romania one has also disappeared.
The aliens are messing with us.

chadwickboseman It is with immeasurable grief that we confirm the passing of Chadwick Boseman.
Chadwick was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2016, and battled with it these last 4 years as it progressed to stage IV.
A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much. From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and several more, all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy.
It was the honor of his career to bring King T’Challa to life in Black Panther. He died in his home, with his wife and family by his side.
The family thanks you for your love and prayers, and asks that you continue to respect their privacy during this difficult time.
