“Ya think?” Leaf had never thought of it like that. She was always in such a rush, always trying to find the next thing to stave off her ever present boredom. It was rare for her to take a few moments and enjoy the surroundings, but something about his description made it just a little but more tantalizing. Enough so for her to take pause and close her eyes to try and see what he saw. 

She concentrated on the symphony of gentle noises echoing throughout the forest. A rustle of the leaves as the wind passed, a twig breaking underfoot, the calls of the array of pokemon surrounding them. 

It was actually kind of relaxing. Leaf with her expansive vocabulary replied back “Shit’s pretty nice I guess. Beats the smog of the big city fer sure. I dunno though. Guess it’s kinda hard to enjoy that stuff when ya grew up right next t’a forest, ya know?”

“Makes me kinda jealous. I feel like yer gettin’ somethin’ way more outta this than me.”

‘indeed. rustboro may have its charms, but forests have a symbolic meaning to me, you see. in one next to my home, my city, is where i started my journey, so i’ve made it a goal of mine to listen and feel forests whenever i find myself in one. ‘ 

he muses that he might’ve been a grass-type trainer had he not found beldum when he ran, and it’s an interesting thought that’s crossed his mind on several occasions. leaf held an interesting point, and had a forest not have been a significant part of steven’s life, maybe he would’ve treated it in the same type of manner as she did. 

it was something that the word tranquility could only describe, a word steven wouldn’t use lightly        ---------        but in this context, he found it only fitting.

it’s just something he’s learned to take in strides.
