“Yet, our friend, one of the most famous guys at our school, has grown very fond of you. After a while, he may even ask you out on a date~” Shiro chuckled as he gathered their bags at the checkout and walked with her back towards the hospital room. But when they arrived at the room, Leo was gone and Hope was staring at the ceiling, frowning.
The thought of a date with Leo made Madison smirk. A smirk that she didn’t intend on being so obvious, but once she caught herself, she cleared her throat & shrugged off the idea.
When they got to the hospital & Leo was no where insight, she frowned. “Where did he go?” Her big brown eyes scanned around.
Hope looked at the two as they walked in, “Oh, he said he had an important phone call to make. Then he left.” She sat up a bit. “He’s probably outside somewhere if you need him.” She reached out her hand toward the food in Shiro’s hand and he walked over to give her her food.
Madison looked at shiro. “I’ll go look for him.” Lord knows where he could have gone. She looked around & grabbed a pen off the counter. Who knows what trouble she could get into, but a pen is better than no weapon at all.
Madison stepped out of the room & looked down the hallways. If she were Leo, where would she go?? She took a right & started heading outside.
Leo stood in the courtyard alone. He spoke to the main contact from the Mob on the phone. He couldn’t just wait for that crazy guy from the previous night to fess up to his boss about the money, it’s not like he would anyway. Leo needed to clear up this misunderstanding the best he could.
“–Look, I’m telling you the truth, that guy stole it from you. He told me himself,” Leo spoke in a hushed tone.
“Why would one of our own steal from the boss? The consequences for something like that is worse than death,” the other replied. “I think you’re just lying because you didn’t have the money to begin with! I never took you to be a liar.”
Leo sat down on the bench, frustrated, “I’m not a liar! Just…believe me, please.”
The other line was silent for a moment. “Even if i did, nothing would change. He would only be replaced, and you’ll still have to pay.”
“Better than having one mix up ending with my family attacked,” Leo frowned. If anyone of them did this again, his mom and dad could be the next targets.
Madison slowly made her way through the doors. She wasn’t sure who he was talking to & barely caught the end of his conversation.
She didn’t want to startle him with her presence, so she gently touched his shoulder. Carefully she edged into his line of sight & knelt down to look up at him. Was there still someone on the phone? She leaned in close to listen.
The guy on the other line was silent again, pondering over the though, Leo assumed.
When Madison sat by him, he glanced at her and was about to move away when he remembered he couldn’t keep anything from her anymore. He stayed still.
The guy sighed on the phone, “You know what, Leo? I’ll...see what I can do about Saul. But if there’s nothing I can do, and he proves his innocence, there’s no way you be able to get out of this mess. Understood?”
Leo pressed his lips together before replying, “Yeah, I got it.” He hung up the phone and sighed, rubbing his hands on his face. “Madison...I’m so tired of this. I feel like I wanna...” he didn’t finish his sentence, knowing he’d regret saying that to her. He paused, “I just want this to end, but that’s nearly impossible.”
