The people who cry, "Violent video games make people violent," have found Record of Ragnarok.

I passed by at least two videos—tiktok obviously—where the original poster in simple terms, "disliked Jack," as in the fictional character and Humanity's champion for round four in Record of Ragnarok, "because he's based off of the real Jack the Ripper." Okayyyy. That seemed kind of valid, because Jack the Ripper is a real life killer, until I kept listening. Listen to me. If you hate Jack the Ripper, the real life historical murderer who committed real killings of real prostitutes/women, you are valid. I understand. But they gave no real reason to hate Jack, OUR Jack (RoR). It wasn't because of his design, outfit, physical appearance, role within the plot of RoR, his relationship with other characters, essentially they could not view and analyze Jack as a separate entity from his inspiration, as a narrative device on paper. Is he going to jump out of the screen and start killing women TODAY?
Personally, I would let even a shallow reason like, "I don't like his design" or "I don't like the art style" pass. But these people can't fathom that this Jack is fake, fictional, an imitation, an interpretation, and even within the Record of Ragnarok universe a counterfeit. A separate creation from Jack the Ripper. Jack Smith—I'll just use his last name from the Casefiles—is lines and color on paper written, drawn, edited, curated, and published by random Japanese people (I know the mangaka/art team, but that'snot the point rn), and subsequently consumed by the public for entertainment purposes (or sometimes even academic purposes, such as, writing an essay for English class 😃).
Jack Smith chose to become "Jack the Ripper," as in to take on his name/title, as a means to SAVE humanity. I will get to the JtR: Casefiles When I Get To It! 😤 SHUSH. I will find spoilers on my own time. I hate humans too, but for the sake of the plot, did you WANT Humans to lose Ragnarok, orrr??? If Jack lost, ths score would have been 3 Gods to 1 Humanity.
But also, stop reading a manga or watching an anime that depicts blood, guts, and violence if they believe it would make someone violent or influence someone to become violent. Get out of here. You (/nbh) made it to season TWO. Jack versus Heracles was the first fight of the SECOND season. That is 10-12 episodes. In the very FIRST fight, Lü Bu's head got smashed clean in half by Thor and looked like a pile of mush. Was that not already a red flag to you of what this series was going to be like????
