˗ˏˋ monet — what do your parents want you to do for a living?“ they had aspirations of me becoming something great like a doctor or a lawyer, of course, but those ideas were set aside pretty quickly. growing up, they always said that the biggest thing was to try and find a job that didn’t make me hate mondays, which is a really awesome mindset! ”

˗ˏˋ rockwell — did you know from a young age what you wanted to do with your life?“ actually, no ; art has always been my deepest passion, but i like doing a lot of different things, so i didn’t really decide until i was almost done with high school. ”

˗ˏˋ pollock — how do you define ‘art’?“ to me, art is something that makes you feel. good, bad, alone, excited, scared, happy ; whatever it is, i think art should bring some emotion with it. ”

˗ˏˋ botticelli — what would you say your ‘trademark’ is? in either appearances or personality.“ probably having paint on me somewhere no matter what i’m actually doing. that actually encompasses both my appearance and my personality — i’m all over the place but having fun with it! ”

˗ˏˋ dürer — do you take a lot of selfies?“ yeah! selfies are a great way to make a memory, and they’re even better if i have friends with me! ”

˗ˏˋ kahlo — do you want to have children? why or why not?“ i absolutely wanna have kids! not for a while, of course, but i literally make working with kids my full time job so it kinda goes without saying that i like spending time with them. my childhood was so important to me, and one of the reasons i decided to work with kids was to try and give them better ones, so the same will go for my future kids. ”

˗ˏˋ van gogh — would you rather become famous after death or famous in life but forgotten after death?“ i think i’d rather be famous after death, just cause i’ve seen how fame can change people, and i’d rather not become anyone like that! ”

˗ˏˋ magritte — would you rather fall in love once and have it last forever (while wondering if there was something better) or have many relationships (but never settle)?“ fall in love once! i do tend to, as my brother says, ‘flit around’ for a lot of things, but not really with relationships. ”

˗ˏˋ chagall — what ‘style’ or ‘clique’ do people typically associate you with?“ the art club, maybe? or just with artists in general. then again, i do know a lot of people, so i don’t know if people stick me in just one clique or not! ”

˗ˏˋ titan — if someone could give you a title, what would it be?“ like, a royal title? maybe a duchess? being actual royalty sounds like too much pressure, but i don’t know what on earth i would be duchess of. it’s a fun thought, though! ”

˗ˏˋ renoir — what has influenced you most in regards of your character?“ my mom was a huge example to me, and still is ; in all of my memories of her she had a smile on her face, and she always had time to listen and was genuinely interested even if i was rambling about nothing. ”

˗ˏˋ dahlia — describe your ideal house / apartment.“ somewhere with wide open spaces, lots of windows to let in light, and maybe a designated place for me to paint! ”

˗ˏˋ sunburn — what is your favourite hobby? what do you like about it?“ painting, of course! i love everything about it ; the colors, the ability to either paint realistically or more abstract, the way things blend together, just everything. ”

˗ˏˋ daisy — what is your favourite perfume / cologne scent? floral? fruity?“ my mom always smelled like jasmine and lavender, so that’s my favorite. i don’t wear perfume myself, but i still have an old bottle of hers that i’m saving for special occasions. ”

          towering   at   a   tall   six foot   three   akira   lim   entered   the   deja   brew   as   none   the   wiser   to   the   DRAMATIC   halloween   decorations   .   unaware   of   the   banner   and   faux   cobwebs   that   ADORNED   the   threshold   of   the   cafe   akira   was   unable   to   DUNK   his   head   and   spare   the   decorations   from   their   ill-fate  .   the   banner   snapped   upon   contact   to   his   forehead   the   spiderwebs   fell   upon   his   shoulders   .   after   a   string   of   VERY  COLORFUL  words   all   he   could   do   was   chuckle   .   ❝   please  tell   me   you   didn’t   see   that   .   ❞   he   pleaded   to   another   patron   of   the   cafe   whilst   removing   the   webs   from   his   shoulders   .

            sunny’s mouth opened unconsciously as the ( very tall ) man got caught in the decorations, though it closed a moment later when he spoke to her.    “ see what? ”    never quite able to stay serious, her faux innocence was punctuated with a wink and a grin.    “ i’d be happy to help you get off some of the stuff you definitely didn’t run into, if you’d like — though you’ll have to sit down or something, cause i won’t be able to reach otherwise.”

“i think it’s easy to forget to be careful of yourself when you get so caught up in a project and making sure you’re careful when crafting it,” rowan mused. at least, that tended to be what he experienced. it was so easy to get caught up in the act of potting and putting together bouquets. “luckily, i don’t work at home so the mess is pretty much kept to my work space.” at her question, he was ready to respond only to immediately seal his lips as she requested to guess. waiting patiently, he wondered if she would get it right, though it didn’t take long to confirm that she did not. he couldn’t help but let out a soft laugh at her guess, though it was in no way at her expense. “i’m afraid not. i actually own moon gardens. the flower shop down the street,” he answered, eyes turning to crescents as his smile brightened at the mention of his job. the shift to his book had to listening to her thoughtfully, eyes flickering to her canvas. “it’s one of my favourite things to do,” he admitted, returning his attention to her face. “however, i spend a lot of time at work so i often bring one with me to give myself a break.”

            a slight pout formed when she learned that her guess was wrong, but it disappeared as he continued talking about his job.    “ really? that’s so cool! flowers are one of my favorite things to paint — especially with watercolors — so i totally appreciate all of your work! ”    thinking back, she’d actually bought several bouquets from that very shop before back when she was experimenting with still life, but she wasn’t sure if that would come off as creepy or appreciative, so she chose ( for once ) to listen instead, only interjecting when the other was finished.    “ oh, breaks are so important! it’s kinda backwards for me, though ; if i wanna take a break cause my hands are cramping up or something, i can’t exactly spend time doing my hobby to let them rest. then again, i’m not actually an artist by profession, so i guess any time i paint i’m taking a break! ”

At the woman’s reaction Tobi couldn’t help feeling a little bad for her, pursing his lips as she apologised for bothering him. “I- hey, no. You’re okay,” he tried to reassure her, a soft smile appearing across his lips. “What if… I can’t make any promises. But what if I took a look at it for you anyway, see if it’s an easy fix?” Tobi hoped the suggestion would at least cheer the other up, even if he wasn’t able to find the source of the problem. He’d hate to see her leave looking so sad.

            at the other’s offer to help, all the energy which had vanished returned in an instant.    “ really? thank you thank you thank you! ”    she half pulled, half shoved the bike so it was in front of her, something rattling dangerously as she did so.    “ i’ve been taking the bus to work and it’s been lame, so i’ll take any help you can give me. ”    as she finally finished maneuvering things so that he could take a closer look, her grin only grew.    “ i like your accent, by the way! oh — i haven’t introduced myself, have i? i’m sunny! ”

❝   pink tulips with white roses or something more complex like yellow tulips with red roses, creme de la creme roses, craspedia billy balls, and a touch of thisle   ?    ❞   she said this hoping to get an answer from someone sitting close enough to her table to hear the thought that effortlessly poured out of her glossy lips. she was at a crossroads with which to pick    ━   a path she often traveled down when wanting an event she was planning to turn out perfect.   ❝   it’s for a wedding anniversary and i can’t choose between them for the centerpieces. the last thing i need is for a married couple to be     P I S S E D    O F F   with what i’ve come up with at our next meeting. the wife’s a firecracker.   ❞   she said this while wrapping a hand around the clear glass that contained her usual mochaccino, getting ready to    F I N A L L Y   drink some now that she snapped out of being hyperfocused on the other tasks for the job at hand.

            sunny looked up at her friend’s words, chin resting on her hand and fingers tapping on the side of her face. as bri kept speaking, however, her mouth only opened wider, and not in a good way.    “ i honestly don’t know what at least half of those words in the second option mean, but it sounds way fancier, so probably that one! unless, of course, a wedding renewal is supposed to be more chill than an actual wedding. then you should probably do the other one. but if it’s supposed to be more fun and interesting, go with the second! ”    her pencil tapped idly against the sketchbook which lay between her elbows.    “ i had no idea wedding planning involved this much work. if i ever end up engaged, remind me to elope, yeah? ”

“  i  better  get  credit  for  the  idea.  ”  she’s  kidding,  obviously,  even  if  her  narrowed  eyes  might  state  otherwise.  her  phone  is  now  long  forgotten  as  she’s  too  engrossed  in  the  conversation  —  which  is  unexpected,  but  she  WELCOMES  it  —  and  she  takes  cognizance  of  the  fact  that  the  stranger  is,  for  some  reason,  eager  to  continue  talking  to  her,  if  scooting  closer  is  any  indication.  jasmine  was  kidding  about  channeling  travolta’s  essence,  but  doesn’t  say  anything  to  mention  it  ;  she  can’t  complain  about  a  stranger  having  that  kind  of  first  impression  of  her. “  mmm,  mostly  old  movies.  we’d  watch  them  on  DVD,  me  and  my  dad.  ” it’s  not  typical  of  her  to  talk  to  someone  about  it,  but  it’s  been  years  —  the  heartache  isn’t  as  suffocating.  it’s  easier  with  someone  she  doesn’t  know  as  well.  “ sometimes  we’d  rent  some  newer  ones,  but  he  was  a  big  fan  of  the  ones  we  already  had.  i liked  the  godfather  and  fight  club.  ”  probably  unusual  for  a  young  kid,  but  she  enjoyed  those  nonetheless.

            “ oh, definitely — i’ll make sure he references you in his graduation speech. ”    sunny is far less talented at keeping a straight face than the other, and a smile appeared practically from the moment she began talking.    “ though, actually, i’d need your name to do that, and i don’t think we’ve introduced ourselves ; i’m sunny! ”    she nodded attentively as the girl continued speaking, though she bit her lip thoughtfully before responding, a bit unsure of which how to encompass the two very different cultures that had been her childhood. still, the unifying factor had been her siblings, so that was the obvious solution.    “ my brothers and i watched a lot of chinese movies when we were little, plus a bit of studio ghibli with subtitles, but as soon as we got to the states i pretty much dove off the deep end as far as american kids movies go ; lots and lots of classic disney, space jam, e.t., spy kids, home alone — the whole package. ”    a fond grin grew on her face as she spoke, each movie title bringing another memory with it.
