Winter has semi caused me to go into hibernation mode- that and having to push myself to study...so in order to distract myself from both, (and to procrastinate) the knitting needles and crochet hooks come back out...phalanges have been busy.

to kyoto 京都市 aug 25th - aug 28th
kyoto is 456.5 km from tokyo...via car it would be around 5+ hours and via shinkansen - around 3-4 hours. renting a car was outta the question as no one had an international license (and pretty damn expensive). we were in a dilemma...do we shell out the 500$ for shinkansen tickets or just not go to kyoto?! (course there was no way we were NOT going...ahh kyoto, ive been dreaming of you a long long time...)
my "brilliant" brother did some googling and found a sweet money-saving alternative. hecks yes! the full info can be found here: TOKYO TO KYOTO FOR ONLY 2300 YEN?!
i do love me a roadtrip but train hopping?! why not...from tokyo to kyoto, for around $190 roundtrip for 3 people! ( i ended up taking the shinkansen back from kyoto to tokyo while the other two used the remaining 2 JR passes to train hop back home.) Overall - travel via train hopping was about 8-9 hours. Coming home via shinkansen took me about 3.5 hours (i snoozed on the way back...and luckily caught myself from over-drooling >_>)
the train hopping was quite nice and pretty smooth. the japanese countryside is gorgeous and brings an air of melancholic serenity and calm .. i love landscapes in general, but something about greenery, rolling hills, clouds rolling atop the mountains just calls to me. really glad we did the hopping.
awesome.
ive always been a fan of classical paintings so these are gorgeous!

so beautiful, makes me yearn for all the seasons, missing how quickly lately they've been all blending into one another and before i know it...another year gone.
WANG WEN (惘闻) – WELCOME TO UTOPIA
Post Rock band from Dalian, China. Digging through my music and having a craving for some good music....
김C (KIM C) - 사랑 LOVE... haven't listened to this in a long while and somehow, i managed to accidentally pull it out and it's still as haunting as ever.
how would I explain love to you, my dear? at times, love makes you shed a tear for no reason and to stare vacantly...the moment your heart feels so full and the moment you realize it can't be helped, that's when, as the saying goes, you've fallen in love.
recently had an itch to knit and crochet again...something about mindless knits and purls is kind of soothing and a good alternative (distraction) against the more pressing things i do have to do. though i lie, the mind does wander a lot during the process...
because i am me, i put my good "souvenir" from japan to good use.
special reducing, reusing and recycling -- for one of a kind wrapping paper. heck yes! and not just an excuse to show off one of my perks these summer. (SOOOO not obsessed...just enjoying a little bit of shameless fan-girling...bahahhaa)
trying to sustain and work hard...
well yesterday was back to tkd...and surprisingly it wasn't too bad (coulda been worse). before i left a fellow classmate and i were both working on a kick...he's done it albeit sloppily whereas i forgot said beginning steps. oiiii legs felt a little bit better after a near 6 weeks hiatus. i remember how inbetween breaks, coming back would be extremely painful but also refreshing..sore and injured muscles having recovered a bit. friend used to say: be kind to your body please.
note to self: continue to stretch daily!did 45 mins of cardio. studied a little bit...im so gonna ace you gre! hopefully!
Bucket[ful] List: where are you going to go?

in search of the best taiyaki 鯛焼き // Bungeoppang 붕어빵 --
there's nothing like street food! while in south korea and japan, we did not hesitate to try any (and all) foods we could stomach. nothing beats WARM freshly cooked taiyaki. while in japan, also found a lot of variations in filling (custard, sweet potato, green tea to the traditional red bean paste) as well as different bread...croissant taiyaki anyone???! green tea bread ??
what if...i don't want to come home anymore?
and the quest for cold ice desserts continued as we ventured onwards to japan! definitely a little bit different from the korean patbingsu but it satisfied our hunger in the (more) hot and humid japanese weather.
as the least likely coffee shop patron...while in japan, had no choice but to try this Chocolate Brownie Matcha Green Tea Frappuccino from starbucks. if you havent noticed by now i love nearly green tea anything. and why oh why, in america must we only have such boring flavors ?! though i suppose it's a good thing cos then my money stays in my pocket and the pounds don't layer on. lol.
couldn't help squealing/jumping up and down/giggling like a fan girl. attempted to do some rk moves on the walk home since the trains had stopped by that time..bahaha. nothing beats actually seeing it in the theater and in japan...Q_Q i almost cried. i am just so so disappointed the second movie won't be released until ive left the country. WHO PLANNED THAT?!!?!??! so so unfair....life is cruel, taunting and tantalizing like so...woe is me, woe is me....
Meiji Shrine (明治神宮, Meiji Jingū), located in Shibuya, Tokyo. Beyond the train station and space full of people where harajuku was situated...it was a rainy day when we decided to stroll through here. Yet the rain only added to the ambiance.
