I wish you good luck!
Monoyoshi Sadamuneโs character revolves around luck. This is due to the widely accepted tale that whenever Iyeasu Tokugawa had Monoyoshi with him in battle, he was sure to win. Monoyoshi himself makes it a point to keep that good luck going, even after he had manifested in the citadel with a new master.ย
He is very obviously singing to someone here, and with confidence, I know that itโs you, the Saniwa. However, unlike his promises of bringing luck to you in the base game, he promises happiness. In a way, that is luck itself.ย
It seems that he had developed quite the attachment to the Saniwa, evident in the chorus; โIโll never forget the feeling that is surely your happiness / Iโll send these overflowing emotions to you / Which I hope will never be forgotten.โย
He makes a point to savor the now; โThe closest happiness is here // Letโs sing our songs aloud / even if it eventually becomes / a nostalgic memory.โ And that it is his job to bring you happinessโjust as he brought luck to Tokugawa; โIf you wish for happiness, then I will give everything I have to make it happen / What can I do for you?โ
To be fair you can interpret this song as romantic just as well as platonic. I say this because he mentions handholding a couple times, as if alone with you, listening to the joys of the citadelโs noise. Either way, Monoyoshi knows that mortal human life is fragile and short, unlike his and the other Touken Danshi.ย
This song is very bittersweet and sentimental. Itโs like reflecting on a life that was lived well and itโs close to time to say goodbye; โEven if we are apart and my voice canโt reach you / I will be watching over you.โ
A few lines that also hint to the fact that a goodbye was inevitable include:
โBefore we knew it, time had passed / then we let go of each otherโs hands / and went our separate ways.โ
โThe look on your face / as you made a pinky promise / was so sadโฆโ
โI want you to never forget that we were definitely here.โ
Monoyoshi will never forget about you, so donโt forget about him.ย
The overall vibe of Yushu no Toki is melancholic in nature, and Iโve said it before in other analyses. However, each song does not leave you with just a sour taste in your mouth, but instead soothes it with lessons of hope and love and encouragement. This time around, itโs about finding happiness in the benign.ย
Thank you for listening!

Once again, I went to a museum (the British Museum in London) to find and gawk at some lovely beautiful swords. However, this time, I got surprised by a familiar little guy!
What are you doing here Mikazuki ?! XD one of the curators must have been a saniwa like us. (The second picture is from the gift shop where can actually just buy a kiwame mikazuki nendo from the museum ! Lol)
This is from the Samurai exhibition that the British Museum is currently hosting for the month (February 2026). There were lots of beautiful swords and armour, and even a collection of tall yaris and naginatas !! I went with my mum, who really adored the aubergine-shaped helmet that was showcased haha. There were main beautiful paintings to accompany a lot of the history being talked about (I remember Yoshitsune getting his own section and my brain couldn't stop hearing Imano saying Yoshitsunekko). There were even a couple artifacts on loan from the Osaka Castle Museum and the pieces of armour that the British royal family had recieved as diplomatic gifts from Japan throughout the years. I went on an extremely crowded day, so it was tough trying to focus and admire everything at my own pace but I was so excited seeing and reading about everythingโI even bought myself the catalogue so I can read more about it. Even though the exhibition was focused on the history of samurai, the very last section was on the modern impact, featuring a very tall statue of Darth Vader. And, of course, a figurine of Mikazuki Munechika himself. I'd love to go again just to see Mikazuki haha. It just caught me off-guard !!
Here's Touken Ranbu's own little section in this massive catalogue I carried all the way back home:
The Mikazuki figurine was listed as "private collection"... which one of you donated your figurine to the British Museum ?!

Another twist in my artistic identity crisis, where I donโt like anything I make. So, trying out a new brush and the good old "learn by watching speedpaints" method.
