Assorted headcanons that also double as notes for me (it's long):
Monoyoshi
Between him and Naki, he’s the one who interacts with the rest of the toudan most when checking on their tasks, so more often than not, he’s the one who ends up listening to any complaints or settling arguments.
Sometimes, he can be strangely and suddenly blunt. Monoyoshi is, generally, a pretty honest and sincere guy, so this sudden bluntness is not typically out of maliciousness or lack of awareness, but the exact opposite. Sometimes you have to say what a person needs to hear VS what they want to, is how he thinks of it.
He’s the closest the honmaru has to a face since Naki is Naki and his saniwa is very determined not to show his unless necessary.
Although he’s not a good direct liar, Monoyoshi is not above omitting info if he deems it necessary (like tricking Houchou into actually doing his chores). Monoyoshi’s poker face isn’t the usual expectation of stoicism but rather his ability to be smiling and pleasant while keeping tabs of things in his brain.
Extremely good memory even by sword standards
Good with kids and babies!!! I will take this bit from the mihotose musical and inject it into my bloodstream. Whenever I think of a modern au I keep thinking of him as either an elementary teacher or aspiring to be one if high school/college au.
Less headcanon and more calling myself out: Sometimes I can’t decide if he’s just a happy go lucky ball of sunshine or a cheery dude with a granny’s soul so I’m so sorry if I seem to flip flop between both vibes.
Out of all the other Sadamune, Monoyoshi would probably find it the easiest to approach Kikkou first compared to the other two, then maybe Taikogane second, then Futasujihi.
He would feel the most unsure around Mikazuki and Norimune but still try to get along with them, and somewhat indifferent to Magoroku but tries not to let it show too much.
It’s unclear if he and Namazuo actually get along as friends or if they simply got used to each other after centuries of being together, which isn’t quite the same thing.
Actually enjoys clothes shopping quite a bit but the mun knows nothing about clothes on a technical level I'm so sorry my son
Struggles to fully live for himself, but he's learning to be a bit more selfish. He still tends to put aside he own wants/desires to please other people, especially his masters, but can stand his ground if he feels strongly enough against something. If left to himself, he can sometimes feel a bit lost.
Nakigitsune
His whole “silent, aloof” vibe can be so quickly and immediately crushed by his own hands. The moment a job is done this man is operating on whims and the occasional intrusive thought that wins.
Likes being depended on, especially by his saniwa (saying this in general not just Uchuu in specific). One wouldn’t expect it on first impression, but Nakigitsune does like taking care of people, but usually does so in the background. Without Ichigo though, this side of him has been drawn out to the forefront as the Toushirous certainly have noticed his efforts despite himself and now he’s been adopted into the uncle role.
Nakigitsune honestly wears his heart on his sleeve. He isn’t very emotive, but that doesn’t mean he still doesn’t feel strongly or have desires. He may struggle a little to turn something down (unless you’re Uchuu, then he has no problem in doing it at all), but he will never hide what he loves.
Yes, he likes fried tofu. I’ll get back to you on what specific dishes though.
Sudden touch affects him a bit more than most. Just the very idea of suddenly being hugged makes him uncomfortable, but…he can make an exception for the little ones and Ichigo.
Sometimes he will just casually follow Kogitsunemaru around when he’s bored. Kogi has gotten used to this.
(maybe) Crack HC: he has a horror gaming channel, but think more manlybadasshero in vibes/content, bro is scratching every corner of the internet for weird ass horror games to hyperfixate on. Every rare 1% of the time he speaks his comments loses their collective minds. Doesn't stream.
not crack: he does genuinely find horror media very fun tho, and probably has bought a gaming laptop with his own savings (that or Uchuu got it as a gift) alongside building up a movie and book collection.
Monoyoshi & Nakigitsune
Nakigitsune is the senior between them and the one dealing with Uchuu’s bullshit the longest. While they’re not Close, Nakigitsune is probably the closest Monoyoshi had to an older brother figure until his actual brothers showed up, and Monoyoshi was assigned to his squad after manifesting until he gained more experience. So Nakigitsune is still someone he respects a lot.
This actually makes Naki one of the few people he can more easily vent to, besides Sohaya.
They casually hang around each other sometimes during breaks as well.
Monoyoshi has gotten a headpat from Naki at least once and sometimes playfully offers his head to him.
This isn’t even a headcanon but him and Monoyoshi are so close in height oh my god;;;….Naki you are so fucking short;;;;. King….
The Creature (Uchuu)
Uchuu is not very fond of cats or cat-like swords and yet it’s the cat-like swords or swords with cats he’s most curious about. Nansen’s curse, the way Gokotai’s history manifested his tigers…it’s all too fascinating but his flight or fight can’t calm the fuck down around them long enough to get anything useful.
He also used to be uncomfortable around Naki’s fox as well. He’s gotten used to them over time, thanks to actually being able to communicate with them and the fox rarely leaving Naki’s side anyway.
His puppets are more like visual measures to his growth. How many he can keep functioning at once, how long they can even move independently without his direction or a specific purpose— these are improving over time with practice.
Uchuu’s obsession is also fueled a bit by a lingering regret— he could barely speak yet when his owner died, and couldn't even give her a proper burial, so he spent quite a bit of time with her body in a then silent house. When Uchuu had first brought something to life, it was out of that loneliness, but I feel like he would’ve attempted to do the same to Granny’s body soon afterwards. Thankfully it wouldn’t have worked, but it was one of the first steps in his obsession with refining his abilities and, in a sense, deconstructing life. To what end, he is extremely tight lipped about.
There are two libraries in the honmaru— one for public use that also doubles as a hangout spot for the swords, and a private collection behind Uchuu’s personal quarters. Only Monoyoshi, Nankaitarou, and Nakigitsune are allowed inside.
Despite all that, he wouldn’t actually intentionally do anything to harm his swords (though he was a little pushier and apathetic to them when first starting out, seeing his duties more as a punishment with a silver lining, but he chills out over time). Him and Nankaitarou get along rather well for obvious reasons, even if their focuses are a bit different, but he still gets something useful out of Teach’s research.
*Uchuu rattling the bars of his cage* HOW ARE THEY CREATING THESE AMALGAMATIONS. HOW???
So while Uchuu doesn't like people being in his business, one) he's a hypocrite, and two) he doesn't actually mind his swords visiting other saniwa or even going out into the modern world (within limits, mainly government based bc honestly he wouldn't actually care enough as long as they don't get in trouble with the law). It's just visitors he doesn't care for.
The intention behind him is that he’s supposed to be kind of shady, but more so when you don’t know much about him or even his face. Once you do, he’s still shady, but he’s also annoying as hell and. A mouse.
All the mouse dolls have small differences in their painted marks to help him tell them apart.
Fun fact: he’s based on a tandemaus design I made a few years ago. He was divorced in that universe.

Bobbins click against one another in a rhythmic fashion, fingers working deftly across the slender ivory, the loom set gently upon her lap. The sound is comforting, a dull clacking just hardly interrupting the air around her, the shifting and placing of needles bringing moments of silence before work continues.
Though she usually reserved the lacework for kimonos, today, she found herself with something else as the primary goal. Having recently shared discussions of collars with Kasen, an idea came to mind that she couldn't ignore — a dainty collar for Nakigitsune's fox, complete with a golden bell she'd found within her collection of miscellaneous antiques. The very concept brought a small smile to her face, risking the chance of perhaps even a slight laugh of amusement, though it never truly came.
Seated on the engawa with a view of the blades freely playing in the courtyard, Suigetsu remains undisturbed, though the ruckus this time was more soothing than distracting. Legs are tucked beneath her as she focuses completely on the task at hand, so much so that the world around her seems to fade away — that is, until a familiar flash of yellow fur catches her eye, now seeing the aforementioned fox brushing against her hand.
Raising her palm, she strokes his head softly, her gaze rising up to Nakigitsune, who now stands to her side. A polite smile rests upon her lips, tilting her head to the side as she addresses him politely.
"Nakigitsune-sama...," she begins kindly, hesitating with her words before resuming, "it's a bit unusual to have you approach me on your lonesome.. was there something you required?"

The fox’s eyes close, pleased, as Suigetsu pets him. Nakigitsune doesn’t answer immediately, maybe doubting his request now that he came this far, but the fox thankfully answers for him:
“Nakigitsune was just curious about your work, Suigetsu-dono! Would it bother you if he watches?”
With the tantos playing and his chores mostly done for today, Nakigitsune was maybe, just maybe, a little bored. There was a genuine curiosity though, since he knew nothing about making clothes or accessories beyond quick patches when the little Awataguchi get a bit careless, but half of that curiosity was genuinely about Suigetsu herself. While Nakigitsune was an overall shy person, he couldn’t deny that he found his saniwa a bit…hard to grasp? At least in his opinion. One might find that hypocritical coming from the sword constantly wearing a mask, keeps to himself, and rarely even speaks, but it’s what he felt regardless. Should that necessarily mean he shouldn’t try to get to know her better, though? Especially if it means of being some use. “And what is it that you're working on?” The fox adds, tails lightly swaying. Nakigitsune stays standing, in case his request is denied, but he tilts his head slightly and nods along with the fox’s question.
The library?
Oh what a time for their Master to sit this one out. He would've adored being in a fellow saniwa's library, just to see what sort of materials they have.
"I was hoping to say our Master would be joining, he would've loved the library honestly. But he didn't want to be too imposing to the master of the house for now. I guess it'll just be me~ But consider the flowers his calling card."
Kashuu steps closer within a good distance, giving Monoyoshi a little grin. "Don't worry, the next time if we ever visit again, we'll probably bring extra treat for you and your Master. For now I'm okay with a lil tour on our Aruji's behalf."
"Lead the way, then."
“I see,” Monoyoshi responds, his tone showing neither relief nor disappointment, but he thinks it was probably for the best. At least for now. “Then, I hope we get to meet him someday,” He hoped so, at least. Even for his Master, surely, holding himself up like this isn’t healthy…
But Monoyoshi tries to shake those thoughts away for now— the tour! “Well, follow me. Sorry in advance that we don’t have much to show.”
But what this citadel lacks in size, it certainly makes up for it in energy and…a few oddities. Starting with the fields and stables currently being tended to by some of the other swords, to observing those working or playing in the inner gardens, Monoyoshi answers anyone curious enough to ask about their new guest with a simple explanation— “He’s just visiting, that’s all!” Were normal guests really so rare? And on top of that, if looked closely, swift little flashes of white scurried against the walls and beneath the flora. A wakizashi probably would have noticed it easily enough, but Monoyoshi seemed completely unfazed as if used to it.
“Since your Master let you come here alone, I’m guessing he must trust you quite a bit.” Monoyoshi suddenly asks, finally getting the chance to pass off the vase to someone on cleaning duty as they finally came indoors. “If you don’t mind, what is he like? Did the other Shinsengumi swords join you as well? Or-” Monoyoshi hesitates for a moment, going over his question in his mind. “...Is there a ‘me’ there, too? Or my brothers?”

Notebooks (Monoyoshi)
Monoyoshi has two! A small one for reminders (for himself to then remind Uchuu about stuff, ranging from actually important things to smaller stuff) that he usually keeps in his pocket, and a normal sized notebook that functions both as a diary and a sketchbook.
At first the personal notebook went mostly unused as he mostly bought it on a whim and simply just…forgot about it. He just didn’t think about recording his life, honestly, as he’s used to just keeping his thoughts and experiences in his head, but I think after the first year and a half Monoyoshi starts making a more conscious effort to record stuff. Both have clover designs on the front and back, but the reminder notebook is slightly more detailed— he doesn’t want to bring too much attention to his personal one, especially since he shares a room with the other wakizashis (not that I’d imagine them to actually peek).
His doodles…are not bad, honestly! Simple and cute, lots of round shapes, and he’s probably drawn most of the toudan in this honmaru at least once, but his personal favorite subjects are plants, animals (especially the little mouse dolls Uchuu has running around and I feel like he’d have at least one doodle of Kasha’s cat nibbling on something every few pages) and— for some reason —Hasebe, usually looking exasperated.
Coat pockets (Naki)
Candy. Not for himself (he’s not a sweets person) but for the Toushirous, or that’s how it used to be. Originally Naki bought them just as a reward or something to help cheer them up, but somehow he’s become the candy guy to all the tanto (not that they have many outside of the Toushirou anyway) + Honebami and Namazuo. At this point, it’s routine for Nakigitsune to decide what kind of flavor of candy to carry around alongside the typical sweet ones for today— something sour or bitter for Namazuo, Yagen, Sayo, Maeda, and Imano? Or spicy for Aizen, Hakata, and Midare? And the extras are stored and locked away high in the kitchen as well, so certain people (Houchou) won’t get to them.
Other than that, Nakigitsune prefers to keep things light and his pockets empty unless it’s important, as constantly having something in his pocket just weirdly bothers him. And of course he doesn’t keep candy in his uniform pockets, so he’s not bringing them to battle or something unlike CERTAIN PEOPLE (also Houchou).
Also, he 100% would try to give Ichigo candy too. Responsible big brothers should get a treat sometimes as well.

I miss forums, but I also miss the story events structure of pre-discord (and pre-ai bullshit) dA groups too and made a lot of ocs I still kinda love to this day because of them. I'd still say forums though.

Female or male?: male, at least for fandom rp Fluff, angst, or smut: fluff, but I do love my character drama sometimes as well. I'm awful at writing smut though that's where being an artist kinda sorta makes up for it but i'm bad there too Plots or memes: I'm fine with both, but if I wanted to explore something specific, plots I guess. I haven't been around long enough to have a strong opinion one way or another Long or short replies: Short. I can do long replies if inspiration is nice, but short to medium is better. I just don't have enough words most of the time and the longer the post, the more I overthink things Best time to write: mornings and afternoons Are you like your muse(s)?: I don't think I'm anything like Monoyoshi tbh, and only kinda sorta for Naki...? At least on a surface level. Uchuu is harder to say bc this blog's honmaru is inspried by the fact I hadn't touched tkrb in years up until I found out about Kashagiri and went like "I gotta get him" so I started the blog trying to come up with reasons why a saniwa would only have like 47-50 swords and seemingly just sitting on their ass. So in that way...yeah, kinda!
He just chuckles lightly at his enthusiasm. "Hey, no pressure. Just knowing we got more comrades in different houses is a treat for us. No two honmaru is the same, that kind of thing, ya know?"
"If the master of the house doesn't mind it, I'd like it if you could give a short tour. We won't impose for too long, promise."
It would seem Kashuu is implying there's another person that might be joining them...?
"Ah..."
Monoyoshi catches on, and his eagerness dies down a little with it. "I suppose not..." He did make the offer, after all, and his master probably expected something like this, right? And maybe he should have as well. Regardless, they'll be aware pretty soon.
"Alright then," his smile returns, and he even looks more visibly relaxed. "If I were to think of the most interesting place here…it would probably be the library, which means I can show you everything else on the way there.” And maybe he can find somewhere to put this vase while he’s at it, if not pass the task to someone else if need be. But first, he has to ask:
“Who else is joining us?"
