Sandworms. Massive, long insectoid-worm like things. If crossing deserts wasnt a pain enough, having to deal with these buggers lurking underneath the hot scorching sands surely gives you a sense of hurry and dread. 1, 2, 3...! and you're absolutely dead! They enjoy pulling their prey appart with their raptorial claws and pedipalps, and dont even think about hiding- they got plenty of peepers on their backs, and they see you very well!. Additionally if they werent absolute nightmare fuel already, despite them being freakishly huge, they seem to start out as itty bitty little worms. Little parasitic itty bitty worms. Their hosts tend to be herbivorous grazers, living inside their guts, using something similar enough to a scolex to keep themselves stuck to the intestine walls. that is until they're ready to burst out of the rear end- gross. Sand sharks (Despite their name, obviously not a shark. Closely related to other piscine wyverns) are also a pain in the ass. They hunt in shivers, sticking out their dorsal fins while gracefully digging-swimming through the desert heat... though...? they dont have an interest on human flesh. If anything, they're on the lookout for livestock. Sand sharks are the definition of killjoys if you got a nice good ol' Cockatrice herd.
