Working on redesigning characters for my spidersona AU and started with Shocker/Montana.

I wanted his suit to be bulkier because quilt/shock absorption should not be skin-tight muscle suits. Inspiration drawn from American rodeo bull riders and those thick vests and chaps they wear.

Shocker in game is grumpy and kinda mean and willing to kick Spider-Man’s ass and then in the prequel novel he’s just:

Hammerhead and his gang have surrounded the apartment where Shocker was holed up with Silvermane. The current leader of the Maggia wants his mentor, Silvermane who is now a disembodied head, to be returned to him. Shocker realizes that he is outnumbered so he offers to give up his chatty friend but Silvermane doesn’t want to go back. From within the gym bag that he is being carried around in, the old man shouts “He’s not gonna give me up until you make him head of the Maggia!” This forces all of the mobsters to begin firing into Shocker’s apartment.

Seemingly trapped in his apartment, Shocker begins to devise a plan despite Silvermane’s insults. After figuring out just the right calculation he needs to be able to propel himself (and his disembodied friend) out of the window and to safety with his gauntlets, Shocker escapes the clutches of Hammerhead and his mafia and heads for a safehouse.

Shocker may look like a loser as he doesn’t get treated seriously by others but he’s actually an experienced mercenary and has knowledge in engineering.

Herman does not enjoy a lot of his criminal work. He sees it simply as his day to day job that he has to do to pay the bills

(This is based on canon) His ultimate goal in life is to open a cat sanctuary in New Jersey

Speaking of which, Herman is 100% a cat person. He owns a kitten named Mr. Pibbles

Currently is living with Dmitri/The Chameleon. Nobody knows how they get along, but they do. Their roommate status may blossom into something more romantic tho

He’s not mean, just tired. He’s actually quite nice when he’s not out in costume causing trouble for people. 100% owns a billiard bar & loves to play pool to wind down on his days off from being a notorious villain. He’s really good at it, too.
