Loving the new pillows and crazy warm February weather.
January at The Shy Place
My summer reading list. I'm almost finished with India.
It's that time of year again: pasta salad. Fill with your favorite pasta and veggies but please use Mrs. BentonS dressing recipe: 1 bottle of Newman's Olive Oil and Vinegar dressing 1 lemon rendered of its juices A sprinkle of sugar, more if you like it sweet And finally the marinade left over from a jar of marinated artichokes
The PDC where Chip, Walt, Hope, and Luci hosted Mr. & Mrs. Benton's 50th wedding anniversary. This is the same room they had the rehearsal dinner in 50 years ago.
This is my living room set up for Beth and her girls to get ready.
What a magical night!
Castle Douglas.Scotland.UK. A print from a pure watercolour painting. Chip and I are giving this to M/M Benton for their 50th. I found the artist on Etsy and she was lovely and very accommodating. I am so excited to give this to them. I hope it brings back memories of their many fun times in Scotland. Home of our Sams
The last days of summer. I will chop these into bite size pieces and pour heavy cream and a sprinkle of sugar on top for dessert.
This dead branch will be great fire wood this fall when we break out our s'mores ingredients.
The majestic center piece of the reception will be covered in lights. We are slowly trying to return this forest back into the pecan orchard it was originally. We are surrounded by these magnificent beings. I can't wait to get the pecans shelled and made into the important dishes of the holidays here in Georgia, like pecan pie.
This is the front deck where we will dance the night away with a few hundred of our friends and family.
I love my new windows at the barn. They've let in much needed natural light. When I look outside I feel like I'm in the woods out in the country and not six miles down the road from my home in town. I'm nurturing our weekend nest and preparing it to host my only daughters wedding in October. Welcome to the Shy Place.
