Post-Seine Javert riddled with suicidal existentialism finding out Jean Valjean has been on purpose starving himself to death because he doesn't think he deserves to be able to see his daughter anymore because of his criminal past, despite him being reformed and no longer in any legal danger, and despite her being the only thing that gives him the will to live (because he has such little regard for himself that he relies on others for any sense of self-worth or purpose, but due to the effects of his past is also incapable of reaching out and forming genuine connections with literally anyone except by accident or divine providence)
