BarricadesCon is MERE DAYS AWAY and I'm hosting a panel about drawing the Amis as part of it!
Grab a pencil and a piece of paper and join me in the absolute whirlwind of information that is me trying to explain what I think about when I sit down to draw these punks.
By the end of the session you will hopefully end up with 3 or 4 basic Amis busts designed by you! And the skills to approach making future designs you might one day want to add to the big beatutiful world of Les Mis fanart.
Below are drawings I made to illustrate a point I talk about, but they arent on the screen for long (apologies in advance for how fast I talk when I'm excited!) so sharing here!
My panel is on Track 2, July 25 at 6pm UTC
the only documented case of anyone ever ACTUALLY having a gay agenda was george blagden on the set of les mis 2012
For those who were interested by my recent announcement of the publication of my book on Les Mis locations in Paris, you may be interested to know that I will be speaking about my research for the book at Barricades 2026, a global virtual convention, dedicated to Les Mis in all its forms, which this year will take place on 24-26 July. My session will be at 3.00 UTC on 26 July, and the full programme is now available at
https://barricadescon.com/schedule-2026/
There is a £12 registration fee, and registration ends on 24 July. For those who sign up, recorded sessions are available online for a fortnight after the convention ends.
It's been long time without drawing them...
IT'S HERE! The list of panels , activities and meetups for Barricades Con! I'll be posting more info about each panel over the days to come, as well as a text list of the panels! You can register to see them all right here!
victor hugo was out of paris when his beloved novel les misérables was first published, so he telegraphed his publisher “?” to inquire about the book’s reception, to which his publisher promptly responded, “i still think you should have made inspector javert an elf girl”

❤️Bossuet L'Aigle/Jean Prouvaire❤️
"Prouvaire’s love poem mentions lawyers and Lesgles has a very sad paragraph about 'oh no I wish I could read poetry like he could' after Jehan dies. And I think the softhearted poet would go well with the very unlucky guy :)"
