Happy May 1st! As usual, I’m joining #maybookstagram18 and #allthebooksmay and here’s my May TBR. I only chose one book, What If It’s Us by Adam Silvera & Becky Albertalli because I’ll have a busy month what with work and a holiday and I don’t want to overwhelm myself. Also I won’t be posting daily from now on, I just can’t keep up and I would rather go quality over quantity. 😄 Okay, enough rambling, how does YOUR May TBR look like? ☺️

Originally inspired by the most loveliest @hannybstudies~ hahaha I tried to make it a darker theme like the one she did inspired by the LY: Tear concept, but I just ended up using some gold accents and craft paper… I did a little reflection log, which isn’t something I usually do but as this roller-coaster month comes to an end, I thought it was appropriate. Here’s an excerpt,
I’m still scared and young but I’m a bit less of the both now. In time I think I’ll get to see who I genuinely am. For now, the person I know I am and want to be is someone I think I can grow to love. That’s enough.
19 November 2017: future goals ♬♪ red velvet - peekaboo i aim to be able to get into my uni of choice. (⁄ ⁄•⁄ω⁄•⁄ ⁄) as such, i really want to be as productive and efficient as possible for my final year in ib. i want to do well, and i want to still have the time to do art for fun, so hopefully, these all happen (ღ˘⌣˘ღ) | 42/100 days of productivity |
no matter how hard high school is, it’s important to always take care of yourself. here are some of the ways I’ve found to keep me a little happier and healthier during the school year.
sleep. getting enough sleep is SO SO SO important, especially in your teens. I definitely struggled to get enough sleep in high school, but I definitely performed best when I was well-rested.
sleep deficit adds up over time– one short night isn’t as bad as 5 short nights in a row.
the best way to consistently get good sleep is to stick to a schedule. Set a time for yourself to go to sleep and wake up, and stick with it.
keep your phone away from your bed at night. it’s distracting, and blue-light interferes with sleep.
if you struggle to wake up when it’s still dark outside, find a sunlight alarm clock like this one. the brightness will gradually increase, slowly waking you up.
try lavender essential oils geared towards helping you sleep. you can use these in aroma diffusers, baths, or put some on your pillow.
do the things you love! don’t do activities you hate just because you think it will help you get into a good college. sign up for clubs, try out new sports, find volunteer work, play an instrument. find something that makes you happy and stick with it! genuine passion shows through on college apps.
take breaks and give yourself scheduled time to unwind. I find I am able to relax best when all of the tasks I needed to do are complete. take a bath, get some fresh air, spend some time with friends and family, read a book. do things that take your thoughts away from school for a while.
exercise is also a great way to relieve stress. it clears your mind and brings more oxygen to your brain. find ways to get moving that you actually enjoy, whether it’s running outside or playing badminton with friends
make an effort to spend time with people you care about. Hang out with friends, family, extended family. Don’t waste your time on toxic people or relationships– it will just add more stress and unhappiness in the long run.
save money. it’s easy to feel like you need to buy all these new products because you see people on instagram and youtube using them. just remember it’s part of their job to recommend those things, and you don’t actually need them.
track your spending with apps like Mint. this will help you become more aware of where you are spending your money, and keep small expenses from adding up without your knowledge.
make a budget plan and stick to it.
use programs like Unidays and Honey to search for the best deals and discounts, but don’t use coupons or sales as an excuse to spend even more money.
I hope these were helpful! let us know if you have any more questions about high school and we will do our best to answer.
is it dodie yellow tho?
How many pigeons does it take to use a drinking fountain? In Brisbane, Australia, apparently the answer is three! Earlier this month, a trio of industrious birds Down Under figured out how to operate a water fountain by observing humans and then making their move when the coast was clear. The feathered friends reportedly spent 10 minutes bathing and sipping from the fountain, taking turns pushing the lever for each other until all were quenched. Who are you calling a birdbrain now?
uhmazing.
Weekly study schedule printable
After releasing my monthly calendar printables in several colours, I decided to publish my study schedule with a few different options in design and colour! I’ve had so many people say they’ve been really helpful and that makes me so happy! I’m just pleased to know that something small I’ve done has the ability to help someone who needs a little bit of organisation in their lives.
For ease, I’ve created entire Google Drive folders for the timetables starting on either a Monday or Sunday. You can then go through to pick whether you’d like it with or without times on the left-hand side. Then you can pick a colour, download it and print! Click the links below to access the PDF files.
Monday start (includes with and without times, and four different colours) Sunday start (includes with and without times, and four different colours)
If you need some inspiration on how to use your new timetable, check out my sample! Other examples you can see on my blog or on my tagged photos on Instagram!
I hope you enjoy using these and if so, I’d love to see them in action! Feel free to tag me on Tumblr with #emmastudies or on Instagram with my username @emmastudiess in any photos you upload. If there are any problems or errors, please let me know via my inbox.
Disclaimer: This printable is for personal use only. You may edit it yourself if you like, but please do not redistribute without my permission. Thank you!

I know you’re tired bitch but keep fucking going
Quick reminder, especially for you younger undergrads: Discipline is a skill, not a character trait. And just like any skill, it can be practiced and improved upon incrementally. Try not to get discouraged if you have a day, or multiple days, where you are less disciplined than you would like or need to be. Don’t quit. Don’t spend the next week binging Netflix because you think it’s a hopeless endeavour. Just get up the next day and try again. Each day you try is more practice, and each day you practice, you’ll get a little bit better, and that continual improvement will pay dividends in the long run.
Keep at it.
Here’s the final piece from the Incredibles episode!! I LOVED filming with my family and I’m so glad I got to spend time with them :) Also just recently watched the movie and it definitely lived up to all the hype. GO SEE IT! ✨🎮
