#I think in this scenario marge would actually be the source of conflict #at least in the earlier seasons idk if this has changed since I kept up with the show marge is always depicted as like #supportive of people right to do what they want but gets way more uncomfortable when its someone she actually knows #shes a suburbian housewife who got married & had kids straight out of high school & never left her hometown #shes consistently shown to be uncomfortable with things that exist outside that narrow normal & the most aware of societal expectations out #of the family #I think shed be initally supportive but quickly buckle under having to actually back up that support #yknow like the parent who says theyre happy for you but struggles to use the right pronouns #shed have a run with ms.lovejoy whod sprout some terf bullshit & start worrying for barts safety #until at the end of the episode she meets a group of trans people who have been helping bart who teach her that gender comes in many forms
