17/08/2026 — an eclipse, a glint of moonlight and the Perseid meteor shower all overhead. I watched it from the roof with my partner, and wanted to draw something to commemorate.

In Norse mythology, Sköll is the wolf who chases the sun — so during the eclipse, his teeth finally come close enough to graze it. His brother, Hati, chases the moon, but now he rests, holding his sliver of moonlight until night reclaims it. Overhead, the Perseids fall like tears. An old European folk tradition connects the meteor shower with the tears of St Lawrence, shed for his martyrdom.

Pretty cool to look up into the sky and to see the same thing as so many before me and wonder.
