Mindfulness and the Magic Within
In the depths of the universe we find ourselves at this very specific location in time and space… this presence is free-flowing and ever changing- a mere microcosm in the grand scheme of the cosmic clock, yet simultaneously everything we know. That’s exactly what every present moment you experience is.
Im here to tell of a short story I just experienced tonight. I was full of stress for reasons of odds and ends as all of us do at least every now and again. Here’s the thing- I hate stress. I will do pretty much anything to get away from it, and when it has the tendency to hover over me in certain situations I just have to feel pushed into a different direction in life- and trust that it’s the right one.
I recently got into yoga and purchased a book last week (Yoga Body & Mind Handbook by Jasmine Tarkeshi), in there are multitudes of poses, tutorials for them, their benefits etc. But there are also some guided mindfulness meditations at the end. I decided to give it a shot, and throw my phone where it could not bother me and whip out the yoga mat.
I tried the “Yogi’s Meditation,” and the “Cultivating Compassion Meditation” with my room dimmed and the window slightly open. It took a small bit for my thoughts to drift away, but once I did magic started to come about. Sparks began to fly. This specific time and space we are in is precious, and as I heard the wind rustle the leaves, and felt the presence of the full moon glowing onto the crystals being charged on my windowsill I just felt pure ecstasy in appreciating all of it. This might sound ludicrous, but the best things in life certainly aren’t perceived as mundane.
There’s is something, deeply rooted in the soil of human experience, so intensely soothing and beautiful about appreciating this exact moment, and I wish it didn’t take me 19 years to find this out for myself.
