Okay Harry dear let me tell you how he knew your name:

He bought you your first knit sweater, it was red because he knew red brought out your mother’s eyes.

He was there when you got sick for the first time. He comforted your parents because he was the first person they called. “Moony come here right this second, Lily’s freaking out” 

During your first winter you liked being in his arms the best because he was warmer than the other Marauders

He took care of you so many times when mama and dada were having a date night

You were the only thing that made him as happy as chocolate after a particularly rough full moon

You liked to ran your little hands over his big scars, you were the second person he didn’t mind doing that. Sirius was the first

You made him smile even though there was a war going on and there wasn’t much to be happy about

All he wanted was you after he lost it all, he was denied that right.

He thought about you and all his friends on full moons, how all of them sat on the living room floor of the Potters and played with you, no one had died or betrayed each other

He knew your name Harry, because the moment he opened his eyes in that compartment, he thought James was sitting across him and they were back in their 3rd year.

He knew who you were because when he looked into your eyes to say “sit still” he saw Lily Evans’ eyes.

He knew your name, Harry, because you were all he had left as a reminder that everything they went through with Marauders were real.

And the worst part is you knew him,too. You loved him at one point and now you didn’t even recognise him.

        He could only ignore what was going on for so long, while the fear that he would lose his friends was there—this was wrong. Evans’ voice at least gave him time to stall, but he was the prefect and frankly they should have stopped taking advantage of how he wouldn’t tell them no. Just because he was their friend didn’t mean they got a fee pass, right? 

I don’t need help from filthy mudbloods like her. 

Remus grimaced at those words, watching Evans storm off, before he heard James’ next words. “Who wants to see me take of Snivelly’s pants?” 

That was it, while he was sure that James wouldn’t listen to him, if he didn’t listen to the girl he fancied why him? But he set his books down and stormed over, mustering up all the courage in him he could, hand at his wand. “Put him down, James.” An order, not a request. 

He wasn’t going to let this go any farther, wasn’t going to let James do whatever he planned on doing. Because if he did, it could go to places that Remus knew he would regret not stepping in and stopping. James’ shock gave him enough time to cast an expelliarmus, breath easing from him when at least Snape wasn’t levitating there anymore. 

Summoning the want to him, he held it in his grip, straight backed. “I will be reporting this to McGonagall,” which prompted a low whistle from Sirius. James tried to say something, but Remus held up his hand. “I’ve had enough of you thinking you can get away with breaking the rules, and bullying people, just because you’re friends with a prefect. Perhaps you should take some of what Evans said to heart and reflect on your own actions.” 

With that said, he turned to Snape, walking over to him and offering him a hand, already prepared for any harsh comments the boy may have. But with Evans rightly pissed at him, he needed someone on his side. 

What he didn’t expect was the other to kiss his cheek once he was on his feet, making Remus go still before touching his cheek with one hand.

He doesn’t like being touched on his scars, especially not the self inflicted ones. Some of the ones that ran deep are still tender, despite the nerves being long dead. 

Despite how young he’d been when it happened, how it’s long healed, Remus can sometimes swear he can feel Fenrir’s teeth sinking in where that scar is (his left arm). That one, he only lets those he trusts see or touch it, as it’s the one that made him what he is. 

Otherwise, the other scars he can’t exactly hide, and will sometimes flinch away if someone goes to touch them. Self conscious about them as it’s a reminder of how he’s an animal, seen as a monster by the wizarding world. How he has no control when in the werewolf form.

He barely noticed her enter the living room where he was sitting, lost in his thoughts. Remus had pleaded with Dumbledore to let the twins stay with him and Sirius, at least it would give Sirius some company, but the old man insisted Harry be with his aunt and uncle. Something Remus knew was wrong, at least here they had a secret keeper, Harry and Aimee had people who loved them. 

Remus startled a little at the touch, looking her way with a weak smile, “’Lo, didn’t hear you.” He pulled her over for a hug, sighing against her shoulder. For as long as he could, he would keep them safe, of that he was sure.

        He looked down at the feeling of something touching his leg, adjusting Harry in his arms as he smiled at the boys sister. “Patience, it’ll be your turn in a second, where’s your useless godfather anyway?” Sighing he moved to set Harry in his high chair with some food before grabbing Amelia. “Well at least I’m not useless, right Amelia?” There’s a smile before he gets her set up in her high chair so he can get her food.

        “I’m sure just the thought of muggle technology sends them running either way. I’d suggest kidnapping a Malfoy to test that theory, but you and Sirius may take me seriously. And for that I might add; I don’t condone kidnapping purebloods and scaring them.”
