This is the final outcome. Originally the haircut was botch. I made it look a little better with this hairstyle.
This is the final hair color application. I put a level 7 intense red hair color using 6% developer. I think the color turned out magnificent.
This is what the hair looked like after it was lifted and dried. The bleached damaged the hair. It became soooo very brittle. It also thinned it out. I notice when I was washing it it would tangle so badly. I had to put a color stabilizing condition on it to put the hair in a better condition. The hair porosity also change. The hair that had been lifted has high porosity. It didn’t take that hair very long to dry, but the hair that had not been lifted took forever to dry.
This is Victoria who has a very botch up hair cut. I decide to play around with bleach. She is an NL 4 with less that 25% gray strands. What I am doing is a double process hair color. Victoria has very thick low porosity hair. It doesn’t get wet easily, but when it does it is very difficult to dry. I lifted Victoria hair around the front, top, and crown area. BTW: I love haircolor.
This is a botched hair cut that I did on October 18, 2015. Take notice to the hair color. I read somewhere that this is a NL 4. BTW: Meet Victoria. She is my latest manikin. My goal with her originally was to learn how to cut a bob haircut. What did I learn from this haircut? Well, you can’t cut a bob using a 90 degree angle. I want to thank #thesalonguy on Youtube because his knowledge has been soooo very helpful. I am a part time cosmetology student. I have to study on my own. His resources are wonderful.
This is a very bad haircut that I created. The goal was to create an A line bob. The back hair is cut all wrong. I should have cut the hair in a 45* angle. I cut it in a 90* angle and wondered why it did not look the way that it should have. I guess I am back to the drawing board. I am going to use this manikin I call Victoria, I am going to bleach and color her to see what happens. Issues with the manikin. The hair is extremely thick and coarse. It is low porosity. YOU CAN’T FIX A BAD HAIRCUT, you have to wait and left it grow out. They call her a natural level 4.
From left to right: Processed with Volume 40, 30,20, 10. Volume 10 developer does not lift. The primary ingredient in developers is hydrogen peroxide. This cause the the pH in the hair to become acidic.Â
This hair was the hair of choice I used when conducting my little experiment.
I use this product to conduct a little experiment. My goal was to test the strength of various developers. I use a product called Divina as my developer of choice.
The is a shampoo and set with fingerwaves in the top and a frenchroll in the back. This was a lot of fun!!!!! Practice makes perfect. I know its not perfect, but failure is not an option.
This is an updo that I created. This is the first french roll hairstyle that I have ever tried to do. I am not pleased with it but I will try again later. I will keep trying until I nail this hair style.
How to do a permanent wave.
Read the manufacturer’s directions and follow them. Tis all. I did a permanent wave on my manikin. It took quiet nicely. I use the Naturalle perm from Sally. Why did I chose this perm? I chose this perm because I had previously color the hair with a permanent hair color. So it was consider damaged. The perm that I use is an acid balanced perm with an average pH between 7.8 and 8.2. The active ingredient is glyceryl thioglycolate or GMTG. The hair processed at room temperature. The result turned out well. This was the first time I have ever used a permanent wave product. This process is somewhat different for afro textured hair. I created a bun up do using Marcel irons to curl the hair. It looks terrible. I’m still learning. See pictures elsewhere on this blog site.
This had the potential to be a very pretty hairstyle. I am still learning. :(
This is my first attempt at using a Marcel curling iron. It doesn’t look good, but so what. I’m in school, and I’m learning. Products used are shown in the above pictures.
This is after I finger styled. I have a few noticable gaps, but nothing that can’t be fixed.
This is what the hair looked like after the removal of the flexirods.
I decided to do a style on Chelsea. This is what the flexirod look like. Products used: Generic leave-in, setting lotion, EcoStyler gel, and a tail comb.
