We’re throwing our own RoyEd week this year and we’re keeping the formatting the same as previous versions of the event, just moving our event to May.

But worry not! @royedweek2023 will also be hosting their own event so there’s plenty of opportunity to participate!

Royed: Roy protecting Ed from mind games and political warfare from other creepy people in the military, Ed protecting Roy from physical threats and weird alchemist psychos. I just love seeing them each being protective of each other as a power couple.

And like they're both technically capable of protecting themselves from such things when it comes down to it but those particular threats are the things they most dislike having to deal with.

Ed is fucking smart and even though he does have his blind spots he can normally spot manipulation from a mile away and while he understands that politics are A Thing he generally doesn't have time or the desire to care about them unless he absolutely has to. Plus his reactions might not always be acceptable on like a massive damage scale. So Roy stepping forward to handle the politics and scheming of it all is perfect.

And Roy can fight, he's a capable soldier and alchemist. But god it's not what he likes doing, it's not his passion, never has been. And the war ruined a lot of his love and drive for alchemy too. So Ed picking up that slack, letting Roy be something besides a weapon like that, letting him have someone else ready and willing to step in, besides Riza, who can go toe to toe with that kind of crazy on even ground without losing themselves to it is perfection.
