How does one jump up AND down?

Jump up OR down I understand

To jump up is to jump with the goal of going upwards, the coming down is falling

To jump down is to jump off of a higher place with the intention of going to a lower place

So how does one jump up AND down?

I know it’s meaning is usually to jump up, and the “and down” part is just describing going down afterwards

But then why not say jump up and then come down? That would be more correct

It’s 11:02. I should not be up.

I hope I read this later and it shames to go to bed at a good time instead of contemplating random stuff
