Just remember:

Cursive is an outdated practice and one usually INSISTED by those of upper echelons. All the ‘best’ looking autographs are done with cursive. It looks more formal, more special.

However, we, as children, most likely hated it, because it goes against our natural love of things we can actually read or process. These letters are not clear or easy to do; when we learn cursive, we do not have the dexterity to learn it, so it’s pretty awful to make small children learn this when they’ve yet to master being able to pronounce their ‘th’s’ instead of as ‘t’s’.

So imagine a posh boarding school sort of deal. Making kids learn this archaic practice in torture. You’re an orphan, a street rat even, brought in to become like all these posh little jerks at the behest of your sponsor. You have to become as good as them -- hell, BETTER. You work hard, you pretend to be happy and great at something that makes your hand cramp just doing it ONCE a day. Your flourishes are beautiful; they’re intricate and legible. Your handwriting is perfection.

But it’s not you. It’s not all the edges you’re used to. Hard edges that represent you more than these soft curves really do. You were a kid from the street, not raised in soft comfort like these namby-pampy rich bastards. But you’ll play their game, because you know the alternative.

But in the end, you much prefer the harder edges. The clarity of your sense of self with every blocky letter you used to write. Because that’s you. That’s something that belongs to you, your sense of identity.

So signing that special league card in edgy, blocky letters felt so much better than that pretentious wannabe card you had before.

Hello folks. Been not around much because A. Sessionbox quit on me and I had to figure out all my.logins again. B. I am.considered an essential worker at this time and the mental.stress has honestly been keeping me from.roleplaying anywhere. Like I am trying? But it's very difficult when you are tired from entitled people. C. I don't feel as welcomed as I used to be but maybe that's just me being insecure. Ahahahaha. I don't have many people I can talk to on Tumblr honestly. If I had to count the people I actually talk to from Tumblr outside of it....I can literally count only one. Like I do try but you know it's a crisis and I understand we all have priorities. I do too so I am blaming no one. So rather than be a grumpy fuss gremlin I gave myself space.

For the record? Spikemuth in old Galarish is Béalsleá, literally translating to Spear Mouth. And the name ‘Diarmuid Ua Béalsleá’ is the name that has the most meaning for him as this was his true home, his true origins and the name his mother used.

Walking with an authority in his gait, he puts a lot of energy into each battle. His nickname is ‘Mallie’, as a certain young Fae gym leader says his actual name is very cursed in Galarish.
