A Shattered H e a r t || ImmortalinMemory
It may have been a good job that Lea knew so little about the keyblade as, if he were to know the true severity of things from Moonlight’s point of view, then the teen would have been likely to worry much more. For now he was going simply on assumptions he made about other, which were largely incorrect, but as long as he could tell himself that then he would not be forced to grow frantic with worry about Moonlight as well as Isa. Green eyes remained closed as he continued to hold the child close to him, almost seeming to wrap partly around him in a protective manner over time. Nonetheless, the redhead did not fall asleep easily, though he laid motionless if only to give the impression that he was asleep.
If Moonlight could help it, Lea would never find out just what happened to blades without a Master. He knew that once Isa regained his heart, he would be able to be more complete than he was now, and would actually be useful. But for now he could only attempt to wait for the gash on his side to become a scar and some of his strength to return. Moonlight was well aware that the only person that could really help him was the teen that was holding him so tenderly. Moonlight stayed close, and like the redhead he pretended to sleep, knowing that if he kept those big luminescent eyes open and on Lea, the other would never get to sleep. He would simply need to wait until he felt Lea’s body lax and fall into slumber before he could even do anything. However he made the decision that if he was not asleep in a few minutes, he would cast a gentle sleep spell, just to ensure he got some rest.
A Shattered H e a r t || ImmortalinMemory
Usually liking to spend time with Isa alone, the redhead still did not know all that much about the keyblade, despite the connection he felt to him. As a result the teen did not know Moonlight would not truly require sleep and so in his near unconscious state he simply assumed it was a necessity for the blade also. Although, had he known the truth Lea likely would have insisted that resting would do him some good nonetheless, simply out of a desire to be at least some help to the other. Holding Moonlight close to his chest as the child cuddled up to him, acid green eyes closed, trying to force himself into sleep. However, before he was able to doze the redhead nodded his head lightly and responded in a quiet tone. “You too…”
He could rest, but he could not sleep - not that either would truly amount to anything. He was going to remain broken for some time. Until his Master regrew or regained his heart, Moonlight would not be a complete being. He was not complete in general, since he was not a real person, but a blade without a Master should lay within the abyss, until it is somehow summoned again. The fact that Moonlight was still managing a physical form, even after all of this should not have been possible. Yet, he was still laying there, practically clinging ot the young man that was perhaps the closest being to his Master. The blade only smiled when Lea answered him and nuzzled into his chest. His fingers did not loosen and he continued to practically cling to the other's form, hoping that him remaining close would make Lea be able to fall asleep.
A Shattered H e a r t || ImmortalinMemory
A light nod of his head was all that was given in response to the keyblade’s instructions, having planned to do so regardless of being told to. Even in his current state, Lea was not foolish enough to try forcing his body into staying awake when it was unnecessary and so clearly unhealthy. Although the redhead suspected that he would be unable to sleep soundly, lying in bed would surely be a better rest than being awake and active. Nonetheless, it was likely that before long the boy’s body would simply give out due to exhaustion and he would be forced to sleep, though how long that would last was uncertain. Clinging Moonlight close to his chest, Lea carried him to the room he and Isa had been staying in. Carefully laying the boy down, the teen then climbed into bed beside him, his arms instinctively wrapping back into place around him.
"Mmm..." The blade murmured, still holding onto Lea as if his very life depended on it. Then again - if he was dropped from this height, at this low level of strength, Moonlight could very easily break. He would rather avoid that if he could. His Master needed the bit of heart that existed within him - to take that away would surely doom both Isa and Lea in the long run. The blade was going to need to be careful. Sleep was not a thing he was truly going to need, but resting was indeed important, especially now. It would put Lea at slight ease if he was able to pretend to sleep. Or at least he hoped so. If the redhead could not sleep, the blade could stay up and keep him company at the very least. A little whine left him once he was put down, and he needily crawled back into place once Lea was back down. He would rub into the other's chest, making sure that they were both safe together before he whispered "Sleep well, Lea..." He was tempted too to do a Sleep spell, but he was never too good at magic - he was not sure if it would truly do the redhead any good.
A Shattered H e a r t || ImmortalinMemory
Lea had long since tired himself out emotionally though only now was it having a physical effect on him. Finishing up plating the purple locks, the redhead attached a small tie to the end of it to ensure it would stay in place and not unravel as they slept. A small sigh fell from his lips once he was done and the teen shifted from Moonlight’s side to pick him up again, cradling the boy close and protectively to his chest. Although he did not view the keyblade the same as his best friend, the similarity between the two would have to do for now.
The humanoid reached up, and tucked away the bangs that would not fit into the braid behind his ears, offering Lea a little smile of thanks. He knew that it would probably tangle a little while they slept anyway - if Moonlight was to actually lay down - but he appreciated the sentiment all the same. He wanted to protest as he was being picked up. He wanted to tell Lea that he was okay, and that he did not need to be carried and babied at the moment, now that they were away from the things that had harmed Isa in the first place. Yet he did not seem to. Instead he reached out and gripped the front of Lea's shirt with one hand, and his scarf in the other. He pressed the side of his face to Lea's chest and let out a sigh. "Lets go to bed, Lea." Moonlight said softly, wanting to prompt the other to move.
A Shattered H e a r t || ImmortalinMemory
Nodding his head lightly, after a moment Lea spoke again in a tired and weak tone, giving only a simple answer in response. “Okay…” The part of the redhead that longer for a sleeping abyss was pleased to hear the other’s answer, however a voice in the back of his mind told him that he would be unable to sleep. In all honesty, the latter of the possibilities seemed more likely, unfortunately. How was one expected to sleep when their most beloved had been taken away and was lightly fighting with himself or others to no end right at that moment. A hopeless sigh fell from Lea just a moment later as he finished up with Moonlight’s hair. Retracting his hand along with the brush, the teen began to loosely plait together the lengths of purple hair, knowing it would work best to keep the hair in order as they slept and hoping Moonlight would not mind.
Composure was currently a hard thing for Moonlight to keep up at the moment. He was far too tired to keep doing this, and he knew that Lea was reaching that point now too. Both of them were exhausted and if they did not sleep soon, surely things would just feel worse and worse. Sleeping was either an escape, or a worse place than reality. Since Moonlight did not truly need sleep, he knew that he would probably just have to lay in bed and hold the other while he slept. He knew he was not Isa, and that Lea would not see him like that either, but it was all he could do right now. Resting was truly needed for the redhead and if he could help lead that, then he would. He could whisper things into his ear to help him rest, or try to cradle him if that would help. Once Lea started to plait his hair, he sat there quietly, hoping that Lea would tire himself out if he stayed up a little longer.
A Shattered H e a r t || ImmortalinMemory
As Moonlight did, Lea remained in silence as he continued to work the brush through the long purple hair. For just a moment the teen wondered how the other’s hair had remained so long even though his body was much smaller now, though the thought left his mind almost as quickly as it had arrived. Beginning to get to the hair at the to of the keyblade’s head, Lea was sure to be more careful with his hand movements, being sure not to accidentally catch his face with the bristles of the brush. After a few minutes, the redhead spoke up quietly again. “Do you want me to help you wash it tonight, or in the morning…?” Lea could not deny he was growing more tired and powerless by the moment and the hair would survive waiting until the morning to be washed, however, if Moonlight wanted him to, the redhead would help him to clean it now.
The blade wondered briefly – if he was Isa would he know what to say to the other? Even if he was to cycle through the blunet’s memories he highly doubted he was going to be able to find something to calm him at the moment. There would be nothing except his Master’s presence right now that could help, so Moonlight would only be able to keep an eye on him for the time being. The strokes to his hair were starting to make him sleepy, despite himself. His humanoid body was worn, and he knew based on Lea’s voice when he did speak that he was growing just as weak. “We can in the morning.” He murmured. That would give both of their bodies time to scab over their injuries, so the water would not burn it or wash away any of the ointment (at least in Moonlight’s case). He turned his head a bit, trying to look at his Master’s love’s face “We can go sleep now, if you wish.” The blade doubted that sleep would do himself good, but it was better than nothing.
A Shattered H e a r t || ImmortalinMemory
Instead of telling Moonlight there was no need to thank him as he had done earlier, Lea simply chose to give a small nod of his head in acknowledgement. However, nothing else was said on the matter. All the redhead truly wanted to do at that point was give himself into reckless abandon, though he knew doing so at present would not bode well in his favour. Moonlight had said much the same things to him, though despite the area of Lea’s mind that longed for his bluenette just could not accept it as so. Keeping silent, the teen collected up more of the boy’s hair and continued to work the brush through it, occasionally picking out small bits that had been caught in it on the way to Ienzo’s home.
Why was this bothering him so much. He was not supposed to be one to feel or even think about feeling. But the fact that there was little spark between the two of them, and the little ember of energy that was usually burning as a bright flame in Lea seemed to be diminishing with every passing moment. As long as it did not go out the other would be okay, but there was no telling what kind of lasting psychological effect this whole thing was going to have on him. Moonlight would just need to keep an eye on him, make sure he did not give in to that reckless desire. If Isa was to return only to learn that Lea was foolish enough to follow him into the Darkness without waiting. Moonlight just let out a sigh, bowing his head as the other got closer and closer to the top of his head.
A Shattered H e a r t || ImmortalinMemory
On any other day, the redhead would not have hesitated in returning the smile to the other, however in the current situation his expression remained blank, void of all emotion. Moonlight was right in his thoughts concerning the other’s state at present, if left alone Lea would surely crack and crumble entirely. All that was holding him together at the moment was his current need to care for the keyblade. Only a while longer and he would be free to break and accept his pain in its fullest. Moving across the kitchen back to Moonlights side, who was still sat on the counter, the redhead collected the ends of his hair together. After doing so the teen started to work his way through the long locks of purple, trying to be a gentle with it as the mess would allow.
No smile, no nothing. He knew that was what he should have expected but even still, he hoped that after a while a bit more of the redhead would come back. This was a near horrid thing to watch, and Moonlight wished that he was not going to have to see this. He wished that he could do something more, that he could hold Lea in his arms and say that it was going to be okay, even if he no longer knew that for a fact or not. He turned his head a little to watch Lea for a moment. He knew that he was going to have to wash his hair at some point, but getting a brush through his hair was the first thing that was going to have to happen. "Thank you," he whispered, thinking that Lea would probably want the silence, yet he could not stop his manners from wanting to come through.
A Shattered H e a r t || ImmortalinMemory
Although he knees still stung slightly from being cleaned and bandaged, Lea pushed on in silence to tidy away everything he had used to care for the both of them, throwing the used cotton into the bin and placing everything else back into the first aid box. After doing so, the teen picked up the box and took it back to its place in the bathroom, knowing it would not be wise to leave it somewhere else in case of an emergency. Heading to the room he and Isa had been staying in, Lea pulled off the ripped pants and pulled on some fresh ones. Picking up a hair brush and the teen headed back down to Moonlight, intent on now carrying out his promise to help the other with his hair.
Lilac eyes followed every movement that the other gave, almost as if afraid that if he was to look away, something might happen to him - perhaps his knees would give way, or he would run into his emotional wall and suddenly all he would want to do is cry. Moonlight did not know what he would do in that instance, but he still readied himself for it. Only when the other walked away did the small child-form make a noise of protest. How could he keep an eye on him if he walked away like that? True he could have gotten up himself, but the more he sat there the more he felt as if his body was made of lead. If he was to try to walk now it would be he who ended up collapsing. He waited until the other came back, smiling almost as soon as the signature red hair came into view.
A Shattered H e a r t || ImmortalinMemory
It seemed that it was understood by the keyblade that Lea did not want to take any help at the moment, which the redhead was pleased about. Although he did not enjoy taking help from others, that did not mean the teen would not accept it when completely necessary, or when he had no other choice in the matter. However, something as simple as his current injuries did not warrant such help, at least not in Lea’s eyes. Only Isa would likely be able to convince him otherwise, and even then it would only likely work as he knew his boyfriend would likely do a much better job of it. And so, keeping silent again, the redhead began to clean the wounds, wincing a little at the sting caused by the contact with the raw flesh. He tired not to show that on the outside though. Before long the teen was done cleaning up his knees and wrapped a couple of bandages around them until they began to heal.
He wondered if ‘unease’ would be what he would use to describe the current situation. Moonlight did not feel any good, and he had a feeling that Lea felt even worse – him being able to feel genuinely and all. He watched the blood slowly disappear into the bandages, and barely flinched when he heard the other give a whine. There was no point in putting on a show if Lea was not going to buy it. Part of Moonlight thought that it might be better for himself if he went and rested elsewhere – near Kairi or another Princess of Heart perhaps. Yet he could not seem to raise the idea to the other. He needed him, and Moonlight was in no danger of fading into Darkness, so surely he could lay off being around such an unblemished bit of Light for the time being and comfort the other. He reached up, and started to tread his fingers through his matted hair.
A Shattered H e a r t || ImmortalinMemory
Lea did not give the wanted reaction when he heard Moonlight’s words. Shaking his head lightly, the teen muttered quietly, at the same time collecting what he had used to clean up Moonlight and toss it all into a bin. “It’s okay… I can do it…” For almost all of his life the teen had not liked having to rely on others for assistance. Although, over time, Isa had become an exception to that rule, the same still applied to almost all others, including the keyblade before him. Maybe that was why Lea wished to find his own way of getting to the bluenette and helping him. If he managed to do things on his own, then others could not view him as weak, as they so often did. Lea wanted to prove to others that he was no longer simply a weak and helpless child and he would do everything in his power to accomplish that, even if it meant not accepting help for such a simple matter. Without another word, Lea gathered a few more balls of cotton to clean the blood off of his own knees, noting that he would need to change after and that the pants would need disposing of.
The humanoid frowned when the other refused his help. He knew that he was small and hurt right now too, but the blade could handle pain better than any human. And he was all patched up now, surely he would be able to stand it. In the back of his mind he remembered that Lea was simply not one to ask for help. Moonlight just wanted to help somehow. He shifted a little, frowning, wanting to say something to argue, but the other was stubborn just like Isa and Moonlight himself. He knew that Lea wanted to prove himself by doing most of the things by himself, but a strong person, Moonlight knew, was someone that knew when it was time to ask for help. Lea seemed to have not learned that yet, and Lea would probably not listen to Moonlight if he tried to tell him so. With a sigh, he could only watch as Lea began to dress himself. He stayed quiet though, not moving unless Lea looked as he needed help.
A Shattered H e a r t || ImmortalinMemory
Silence remained as the redhead continued to clean up and take care of the other’s wounds. He didn’t feel any need to speak, though even if he had Lea doubted he would really have anything useful or important to say. His mind was empty of any and all original thought, all that truly remained at that point was worries of his best friend’s well being. With his lack of focus on speech, it took Lea a few moments longer to realise that Moonlight had actually spoken to him, and also there were added moments on top of that for the redhead to process what he had been asked. Placing down the last of what he’d needed to clean up the child, Lea gave a small nod of his head in response. “Okay…” In truth the redhead had not noticed how much of a mess the other’s hair had been until that moment.
It was okay to be quiet. If they spoke too much Moonlight had a feeling that he would start breaking down. Moonlight did not want that. Isa had never understood how to comfort people, so that reflected on the purple haired being in front of Lea now. Sometimes talking was good, but when one was overloaded with so many thoughts it could prove to be dangerous. Not that Moonlight has his own personal experience with such things. He did not want to speak of his Master right now, which is what he knew would happen if they did end up talking more than required. He would not be able to get the other to laugh, and any smile he could summon would surely be short lived and that would make Moonlight ache more than any of these wounds. He stared up at the other until he answered, knowing that his mind must have been elsewhere, where Moonlight could not properly reach him. As soon as Lea finished aiding him, he tried to give yet another smile. "Switch places." The blade instructed, wanting to get Lea off of his feet so that he could try to help with his scraped up knees before any infection set in.
A Shattered H e a r t || ImmortalinMemory
“Don’t need to thank me…” Lea muttered quietly in response, his voice sounding in a tone little above a whisper. It didn’t matter if Moonlight had wanted his help or not, the redhead would have made sure to clean him up regardless, much like Isa had done to himself countless times in the past. Once he had finished dressing the wound, the redhead reached back into the first aid box, intent on getting some more cotton wool, soaked in warm water, to clean up the other’s more minor wounds. His own could wait until he was sure the other had been properly taken care of.
He gave a small shake of his head. Perhaps the thanks was not necessary to the redhead, but still. He felt it needed and polite to do such a thing. Lea was always so kind to him, even if it was just because he had a piece of his love's heart within his being. But that was okay. A weapon did not need nor deserve kindness, especially when he had just failed the only duty he wanted to fulfill. Yet he knew that Lea would not hear him say such things. He shut his eyes and just stayed quiet for a moment. He wanted to rest, and he wanted things to be okay. But for a weapon to dream was truly useless. He needed to be one of action, not one of wishes. He closed his eyes, and let the other continue to wash away the hurt. While the humanoid body still had its aches, at least it was not as filthy. Eventually he opened his eyes, and glanced down at the one mess remaining.
"... Would you please help me clean my hair?" He asked, almost shyly. "After we tend to your own wounds..." Leaving Lea's injuries as they were was not a good idea. The blade knew that much.
A Shattered H e a r t || ImmortalinMemory
Already with it aching, Lea felt a small twinge on his heart as he heard the other whimper. Even if the blade was not Isa himself, the redhead still held him close to his heart, although he often did not show that as openly as he likely should have done. However, little may have been done for that at this point in time. Quietly, Lea uttered a soft apology at the pain he had caused the other, not liking the requirement of such things to clean up the wound. Although, as Moonlight had also thought himself, it needed to be done.
After cleaning away most of the dried blood, the redhead placed the cotton down, intent on throwing it away once he was done, and then took some anti-bacterial spray from the first aid kit. Lea did not know what kind of effect an infection could have on Moonlight, or even if a keyblade could even take on any form of infection, so he felt it best not to risk such a thing. Before spraying it onto the cut, Lea muttered quietly. “This might sting a bit…” Waiting for Moonlight to ready himself, the redhead soon sprayed it onto the area around the cut before then placing it back down and beginning to dress the wound. Maybe getting so many injuries when he was younger was finally beginning to play off, he actually knew what was required to properly take care of a number of injuries at that point.
Of course the blade knew full well that any discomfort he showed would only cause Lea more pain. He should not have been able to feel at all, yet he was trying to act as a human would. It was silly, really. Lea knew he was a Keyblade as opposed to a real person, so he should not have been bothering. Yet still, the young blade could not seem to bring himself to act in such a fashion. He was already going to be around people that lacked their hearts, the least Moonlight could do was pretend, try to convince the other he had some emotion so he would not feel completely isolated. “It’s okay.” Moonlight said softly, trying to give Lea a little smile.
His lilac eyes watched in near wonder as Lea continued to clean the wound. He had never really seen a person bleed before – not like this. So seeing it and essentially feeling it for himself was peculiar. The blood had a colour of red Moonlight had never seen up close before, and the smell was not something he wanted to get used to. He felt the contact of the disinfectant, and he only gave a small cringe. It stung all right, but not as much as he might have expected. Physical things he could feel pain from; emotional pain was the ones he knew little about. “I-It is not so bad.” He whispered as Lea started to dress the wound. He lifted his arm a bit too, to try and make getting to his side a bit easier. “Thank you.” He murmured after a moment, trying to flash Lea a small smile.
A Shattered H e a r t || ImmortalinMemory
Unaware of Moonlight’s thoughts, Lea truly did appear to resemble a zombie, even though he could not recognise it himself. His green eyes, while still bright in colour, were dull and void of all emotion, if anything his eyes were that of a dead person. Usually, the redhead’s eyes were one of his better features, so bright and full of life, however now it was almost as if Lea himself had lost his heart and the ability to feel instead. Although that was not the case, if it were there would not be such a heavy weight of worry and sadness pressing down on him with every moment. And then the teen’s mess of hair did not help to lessen his zombie like appearance. Lea had neglected to brush out his spikes before going to bed, and so they had drooped and pointed out in all directions. Then there was the matter of of harsh wind which had only added to the knots and tangles his red hair had come.
When he heard Moonlight’s answer, Lea simply gave a small nod again, feeling no true need —or maybe it was no desire— to speak aloud. He had been able to see the other’s initial answer himself just by looking at him, though he had been about to ask for something more specific when the second was given. Reaching out, the teen move to pull the other’s shirt off to allow him better access to his side. He would need some clean and warm clothes anyway. A small frown came to the redhead’s lips as he saw there really was a cut down the boy’s side. Pulling away, Lea went to fetch some warm water to help clean the wound, dampening some cotton wool with the water after bringing it back over. As gently as he could manage, the redhead began to try to clean up Moonlight’s wounds in silence.
Moonlight supposed he should just be happy that the redhead was alive. If he was gone he imagined that he would not like it too much. He would feel the ache that Isa would have without the redhead. The redhead now was the only light Isa would have despite the little light that was in Moonlight. Lea was more important than the blade. He could do things, he could feel, he existed truly – Moonlight was just a useless piece now. But seeing him look so dead now pained him more than he could properly comprehend. He wanted to reach out and stroke his face, but he knew that his arms were not long enough to reach him, and the wounds on his body would cause him too much strain if he was to try such a thing. If the situation was any different, he might have laughed at the way that his hair was pointed. It was almost silly, clown-like. But he would not say that. Now was not the time for such jests.
The silence that was going between them made him more uneasy, or at least he imagined so. He reached down and tried to undo his kimono so that removing his shirt would be easier on the redhead. Once Lea moved away Moonlight looked down to see the cut for himself. it was not as bad or deep as he first thought, so he had some relief on that part. He would not need stitches he hoped, so it would be fine to heal on its own. Blades could heal, though a mark would remain, especially on his weaponized form unless there was some magic healing that could be done for Keyblades. But he would not hold out for that. A small whimper left him once Lea started to clean his injuries, yet he held his tongue to keep from protesting. It needed to be done, and Moonlight simply needed to take it.
Young, weakened - but brave. That was what he was getting from Moonlight. “Then guard it.” he responded simply. “Guard it with your life if you must. I know such valor had been usually reserved for older blades, but to see it in one so young as you - your Master must be truly remarkable.”
Hn. Master? Yes, his Master never allowed them to reveal their existence to anyone - not that he really cared. This young humanoid was like him, wasn’t he? Perhaps telling him the truth would be of no harm.
“I have kept my existence secret as directed by my Master, but since you are just like me, I suppose there isn’t much of a problem. My Master is Xemnas - Superior of Organization XIII, if you’ve heard of them.” He paused slightly. “I’d rather this remains a secret between you and me.”
He was curious. How would a human behave if they had received such words? Perhaps he ought to tell Void that he was normally in an adult form, and he was simply so tiny in order to concerve his energy. Then again, he had not asked, so Moonlight had no reason to tell. He was not one to have loose lips, usually.
Lilac eyes widened when he heard the name of this blade’s Master. He had known by the aura, but to have it confirmed… he did not know what to think of it. So he simply ridded his face of any surprise, and simply nodded his head.
“I know of them.” Moonlight answered. “And I will keep your identity a secret.” If he did not, well… He knew full well what might happen to him. He needed to play it smart regardless for Void was correct; this was not something that would be meant for a blade as young as he, but he was all his Master had left beyond his redheaded love. But that too, he would not utter if he could help it.
