Option A: The Reindeer Race
Elif held up a finger towards the other as if to convey that she was going to need one more minute as she chugged back the can of beer in hand. "Okay," The birthday girl smiled brightly over, moving to wipe her lips off on the back of her hand. Crushing the beer can in hand and tossing it over in a nearby trash can, she decided, "Now, I'm ready." After all, she was thoroughly tipsy and decked out in a cute, however not winter appropriate, outfit with an antler headband perched on top of her head. Now all she needed was to get to the starting line to crush this race. Only, blinked around she realized, "You wouldn't happen to know where the starting line is exactly, would you?"
Option B: The Polar Express Experience
"What the hell was that?!" Bri exclaimed. Leaping forwards in her seat, she instinctively latched onto the arm of the person beside her for dear life. The moment the train left the tracks, Bri squeezed her eyes shut. Her mind kicking into worst case scenarios- This was it. They were all goners! The train was going to crash and then she'd wind up dead, again, and it would all be her fault for being peer pressured into going on a rickety train that likely hadn't been expected since the 1910's. Only as she cracked a peak out the window, she realized that the reality of the situation was worse than she could have imagined. "Oh hell no," She gulped back, squeezing the person beside her's arm even harder as she could feel her stomach drop out from under her. Bri had always hated heights. One might describe her severe hatred of them as a fear or phobia. But, the proper definition of her hatred could be defined when she wasn't sitting on a moving train propelling itself up into the air. "I want to get off now, please and thank you," She whimpered out as she squeezed her eyes shut once more.
Option B: The Polar Express Experience
☾⋆⁺₊⋆ The old train felt so familiar to Austin, like stepping back in time, or more like stepping back into his own, old life. He'd remember days where he might catch the train to see Cora when the pair first started seeing each other, and even though it reminded him of her now, it was a happier memory that wasn't filled with guilt or grief. From the seat where he was he looked out the window, admiring the scenery that passed by until there was a more unexpected jolt of movement and he felt the hand suddenly clutching at his arm. Looking to his left he couldn't help it, but a small chuckle left him as he smiled a little too. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have laughed. This is very unexpected though isn't it?" he says as they gripped his arm tighter and he took a look out the window as the train was elevating into the air. "It's alright though, I assume it is perfectly safe."

☾⋆⁺₊⋆ Selin had been trying to find everyone that had signed up to one of her recent classes that was unexpectedly cancelled and unfortunately hadn't found everyone. She had still been feeling quite bad about the class being cancelled so last minute and had hoped it wouldn't deter anyone from coming to the next one. Whilst browsing the trees at Just in Bloom she did notice out of the window one of the participants that she had briefly spoken with but not seen since. Selin quickly stopped what she was doing to rush outside of the store in hopes of catching them quickly. "Hey -" Selin started to call out until realizing she didn't even know their name. " - you..." she tapped them on the shoulder. "Um... Sorry, do you remember me from a few weeks ago?"

☾⋆⁺₊⋆ "I'm sure this whole thing will be rigged." Anna says eyeing up the sign for the reindeer race to which she would surely be at a disadvantage. "Any vampire could just sprint to the finish line in like, what, a second?" Anna folds her arms over, considering if it was even worth her time entering. "What do you think? It's either this or heading straight to straight to A Bao Time cause I am seriously hungry and I hear they're doing some kinda half off deal thingy."
Something about that remark seemed to just about tickle Culver, and the witch threw back his head, giving a hearty laugh. "Come now. It's all mighty safe, I swear. The secret is just to heal the person before they wind up dead. It's a speed thing, I reckon. Like a short order cook, you know what I mean?" His eyes twinkled with mischief. "But I hear you. Don't worry. I ain't in the business of cojolin' folks into shit they don't wanna do. And I probably ought to look into printin' out a waiver before I start tossin' knives around, huh? Or maybe we just toss 'em at the inanimate instead." Toothwheel's case thumped in response, as if the metal puppet were tossing itself at the lid from within. "Oh, quiet down, you," Culver chided, turning back to give another smile. "Practice? That's a tough word. What I mean is, well...I ain't ever done it from start to finish or nothing. But I'm sure it'll be fine. The fire extinguisher would be a good look, though. Adds an element of danger. Spectators love danger. Besides, I've been a smoker for nearly thirty years now. How different can a sword be than a cigarette?"
☾⋆⁺₊⋆ "When you print out the waiver, maybe i'll think about it... maybe." Selin was sure that Safiye would throw a fit if she knew Selin was doing anything too risky anyway, so she'd have to still think about if it were worth the risk or not. Just as she was thinking about it the puppet seemed to make some sort of movement inside the case that had Selin's eyes drawn down towards the case in Culver's hand. " Hmm, I'd feel a whole lot better if you hadn't just admitted that." Selin's eyes look back up to meet Culvers. "People love to see someone risking their life, which is kind of disturbing if you actually think about it. I suppose it's better if I'm there with a fire extinguisher than letting you do it without one though."
“I haven’t either, but did you hear about the attack back in July and this Catalyst person? Because it’s making me second guess everything the town brochure is selling,” He explained as if he was a concerned citizen himself and not one of the dangers she should be afraid of. “Oh yes?” He asked, sitting up as he caught the glimpse of curiosity in the other woman’s eye. “Oh, yes! I believe it is. It was the owner’s sister who told me. I believe Dilan was her name? Why do you ask?”
☾⋆⁺₊⋆ "Mhmm," Selin mumbles as she nods her head, brows knitting further together as she became increasingly worried. Dilan. There was Selin's answer. The answer she hoped that she wouldn't get. She felt her skin prickle with goosebumps now piecing things together. He was talking about Leyla, or rather Leyla's boyfriend. "Oh god," Selin gasped, wondering if Leyla knew about this? Maybe she did? Selin didn't know if she should say anything more as she suddenly started to move. "Um, no reason. I'm so sorry, I do have to get going though. It was lovely to meet you Cypress, and... um, stay safe..." Selin tries to excuse herself as politely as possible as she rushes to leave to think about if she should say something to Leyla about this or not.

"So, what gift do you get your sister that doesn't fully say I love you and you're super cool, but also I know you don't really need anything right now, and all I can think of are gifts for your dog? Because I'm stumped." All of Noel's ideas felt so small and trivial, and she wanted to really wow her siblings. Her parents were much easier to gift. She'd always added a personal and quite goofy picture, and sent them some necessities for each year like underwear and more practical things. But for her siblings she wanted joke gifts or actual meaningful gifts, but this year, she couldn't think of anything. "What did you get Safiye?"
☾⋆⁺₊⋆ "Hmm, that's a tough one." Selin hums, wondering what she would also get for her sisters. Safiye was easier to buy for, but Leyla was the difficult one since still felt like she was just getting to know her again. "So far I've got her a mirror that is shaped like a crescent moon. I thought it was cute and kind of fitting, you know? What does your sister like? Personalized gifts are always cool too." Selin suggested as the pair strolled through the holiday market.

BACKGROUND.
Trigger Warnings: Death (+ death of children) Blood, Fire, Grief,
Austin Lishan was born in New York in the early 1900s. In his early teens, he met Cora, and from the moment he saw her he knew she would be the girl that would one day marry. Of course, he was just a kid who had no idea what direction life might take him in at that time. However as the two grew as friends, he eventually plucked up the courage to ask her out for a date one day, and it wasn't long after that they fell in love. The pair married in their early twenties, and Austin couldn't believe his luck, that he had married his best friend. Before they knew it they were starting their own family. Their first child was a girl, they named her Viola, and she was a child with the brightest smile you'd ever see, so full of joy that brought happiness to the young couple. A few years later their second child, Jacob, was brought into the world. Even from such a young age, he was a character, so humorous and creative. A perfect addition to complete their little family. Austin was so content, he had everything he could ever need in life with his loving family.
However, the first disaster struck when Austin was returning from a long day of work during a snowstorm that hit New York and left him stranded. He knew that out there alone in the cold with no shelter, and nowhere to go for safety, it wouldn't be long until hypothermia started setting in. He tried to take shelter beneath the trees, though he'd been out there for hours, his clothing providing very little warmth he waited out the storm with his jacket wrapped tightly around him. Austin slowly began to realise that death was coming for him. However, he had faith that he would be okay no matter what happened because he knew his family was home, happy, healthy and safe. That was all that mattered to him.
It was by some stroke of luck, or a curse depending on how you look at it, that the fates were not done with Austin just yet. He was close to death, cold, skin ashen as his heart worked hard to keep the blood pumping throughout his body and before he knew it there was someone there and he wasn't alone. Perhaps they were there to take him to shelter and find warmth. He thought he was saved, but what he didn't know was that as they pressed their wrist to his lips and the first taste of that odd metallic-tasting liquid touched his tongue, something wasn't right. Death was inevitable and Austin knew this. He had made peace with it as he'd waited long, long hours out in the freezing snow. There was a moment where he thought he'd passed out and when he came to the entire world felt different.
The sound of each tiny snowflake falling against the ground seemed louder to him, and somehow the wind felt colder yet it didn't seem to have the same effect as it did before. His heart was beating strong and steady and he was no longer dying. Somehow he was alive but he didn't understand how he could feel more alive than he ever had and how suddenly it had all happened.
There was so much confusion. He was different. He had died that night, and he came back a vampire, turned against his will. Although his maker had the intention of saving his life, little did they know they changed it forever. This was the first event in Austin's life that set the cogs in motion.
The vampire that turned him explained everything to him; all of the supernatural species, the myths that were real and what this now meant for him. Austin wanted to go home, see his wife and be with his children, but he couldn't as his maker explained why. He wrote to his wife, letting her know that he was okay and that he was safe and wished to return home soon. Cora was filled with concern and as days went by she could no longer sit and wait. Whilst Austin had spent time with his maker learning every day and trying to understand what this new reality meant for him and his family, Cora searched, and had the neighbours out looking each day. Months went by with no trace of Austin.
In the beginning, the bloodlust was the hardest thing to understand and control. Austin hated the fact that he had to drink the blood of humans now, but this was what he had to do to survive. Eventually, when his wife found him she could see the internal battle in his eyes as he tried to keep his distance so that he wouldn't accidentally harm her, though he missed her terribly and Austin soon parted ways from his maker.
As he returned home with Cora, Austin told her everything. Understandably, Cora was shocked and horrified at first. Who wouldn't be? However, this was nothing that the love the two of them held for each other could not overcome. Their love was strong and it would stand the test of time.
As the years passed conversations cropped up now and then about their future, how he was unaging as his wife started to show the signs of years gone by on her face. Eventually, they knew that she and his children would age beyond him, so they talked about their options and making Cora a vampire first. Then, when his children were old enough they would make them vampires too, this way they could all live forever as a family.
Cora wasn't sure as she'd seen Austin struggle with bloodlust, and leave suddenly on occasions when it was too overwhelming for him. She did not want that for their children and so they kept putting it off as long as they possibly could. Though their time ran out too soon. Austin had made a mistake on more than one occasion. A blood trail that led right to him and his family. When Austin was out for another day's work hunters came looking for him and instead, they found Cora and the children. If you asked the hunters, they'd have told you it was a dreadful accident. A mistake of their own. They never intended to kill his wife and children. Only him. They had no idea they were in the house that they burnt down to the ground until it was too late.
When Austin returned home there was nothing but crumbling buildings, ash, smoke and flames where his home once stood. The life they had built had been burnt down to the ground and was nothing but rubble and dust. Austin was alone again. Distraught in his grief he went to seek out his maker, blame them for turning him instead of leaving him to die. However, he had no idea where to go as they'd since left the state when they parted ways years before. Austin could not imagine how he would live on without his wife and children but had very little choice. He left New York with no destination in mind, moving from town to town and city to city. With so much pain in his heart and grief and guilt that crippled him, he found himself unable to control his bloodlust. It was a dangerous time for anyone that crossed his path. It was the darkest time of his life.
More years went by, and he remained alone aside from the occasional company that was only there until he drained them. He didn't let anyone in. He'd heard rumours of the place close to what was once his home. Lunar Cove. A safe place for supernatural beings like himself. Eventually, he made his way to Lunar Cove only to see if that was where his maker had gone. When he didn't find them there, but instead found other vampires he stayed for a while, settling in, and this was when he met Meena, who soon became the first person that he let in. In their way, they became family, and some of that grief was alleviated, as he found somewhere he might belong. Years and years pass by and Austin starts to come and go from Lunar Cove as he still carries the guilt of his family's death to this very day. He'd visit the place where their house once stood, though by this time it had been built up into a department store of all things. It wasn't the same. He ignored the odd looks he would get every time someone would catch him laying flowers outside in memory of his wife and children. He'd spent some time refamiliarising himself with the city that was always changing, and during one of those times, he'd met a witch named Anna, who he found out to deal blood to vampires. It was an easy way for him to start controlling the bloodlust again instead of harming others and the young witch helped him with that. Through Anna, he met Arlo, another witch who wished to become a vampire like him and whilst at first he'd tried to talk them out of it, he couldn't help but empathise with their situation. Perhaps it was their shared anger towards someone who'd hurt them or some sort of need for revenge. In the end he agreed, turning Arlo, creating another being like himself, though after that, they too had parted ways until Austin returned to Lunar Cove once again.

"Je sais," 'I know,' he groaned. He'd been putting the task off for some time now, pretending to read the posters when someone looked at him funny. His knees popped as he stood. He wasn't getting anything done just waiting around outside for an actual reason for his presence to magically appear. No time like the present. "Autre que ça, tu sais ce qu'il y a faire dans les alentours?" 'Other than that, d'you know what there is to do around here?'
☾⋆⁺₊⋆ "Eh bien, ça dépend" (Well, that depends) A slight raise of her brows as she speaks, since she could probably list of reels of things to do. Lunar Cove was pretty decent like that. Every corner had something for just about anyone, though Anna hadn't done everything or been everywhere yet. She had a few favourite spots. "Qu'aimez-vous Faire? Touristique? Achats? En buvant? Patinage?" (What do you like doing? sightseeing? shopping? drinking? skating?) Anna listed a few things to get the ball rolling. "Si vous êtes nouveau ici, faire du tourisme est une bonne façon de procéder." (If you're new here, sightseeing is a good way to go.)
“Hey, I get it,” Silas said placing his hands over his heart as he nodded along as if to say he agreed with her. He didn’t, but it didn’t hurt to establish a common interest or so he had been told. “The fact that this, Silas person,” He gave the folded newspaper in hand a flick as he continued on, “is on the loose now and likely coming here is unsettling. Isn’t it? Our safety is on the line here. Which can’t help but make you wonder, how safe is Lunar Cove really? I mean if that café owner’s boyfriend can get off scott free for murder, who is to say this Silas person won’t either?”
☾⋆⁺₊⋆ Her lips pressed together as she breathed though her nose, shoulders visibly tensing slightly more as he seemed to echo her thoughts. "Well, I haven't lived here all that long. I thought it was safe but..." Selin trailed off again as she was becoming more unsettled the longer the conversation went on. And Cyrpress bringing up the boyfriend of someone at the cafe again had her dying to ask who because she feared that it might be Leyla. She couldn't just go and ask her, they weren't at that stage yet. They were just starting to build bridges. "I'm sorry, but I have to ask," she couldn't hold it in any longer as she was far too curious, perhaps too curious for her own good, "which cafe is this? The Daily Drip?" Immediately, she started to wonder if she shouldn't have asked at all. What if it was Leyla's boyfriend?
With a snap of their fingers, they smiled. "Pizza party, I can do that." Then they playfully rolled their eyes, and shook their head. "So you're a planner." She stated before taking a deep breath. "That's the thing, though. Whenever I sit down to fully think about it, sober and all, it's a bit overwhelming. I do have some like drafts and ideas. I took so many samples from the store, it's... a bit of a mess." They had always tried to decorate their homes to make them feel more like, well, them, but usually they had roommates and people who could help with the decisions. Right now it was all Noel, and they were struggling to settle on an idea, settle on a texture or design. "Yeah! Totally. I like it better because if I change my mind or decorate for a holiday, it'll make it easier. Plus I do love white, black, and red. I'm kind of basic with that, and a maximalist with everything else." A small pause, "What's your house reno experience? Are we both going in on the dark? Also, do you want us to do some renovations to your place? Because I'd be more than happy to return the favor."
☾⋆⁺₊⋆ Selin nodded her head, her smile stretching a few millimeters more across her face. She liked to plan, or at least try, just to make herself feel organised. "I am, but there was nothing wrong with winging it from time to time. I could help with that too if you wanted. I don't want to step on your toes, but I'm happy to do it."
"Oh, I'm total novice, unless it's painting a room white, that's easy enough, but this -" Selin pursed her lips a shook her head as she leaned her back to the chair, "- this is all new. There's nothing we can't do though, with a little help from DIY videos on the internet and a little planning, or at least a few idea to get started with." Selin liked simple and plain looks brought to life with a little bit of colour here and there, the odd plant or two, but not too many that she'd never have time to water them. "The apartment's pretty much done, but my workspace is a mess! Super disorganized. I could do with a new storage system. Actually, do you like shopping?"
"Well, in that case, we should have samples prepared at once. Have you try all of them and then make your decision from there," She offered up, heading up to the counter to greet the employee before she could say no. After a few pleasantries, the mayor had returned to Selin's side with a smirk toying at the corner of her lips. "We're all set. We can sit at that table over there and they'll bring out a selection for us to try. But, even if you didn't sample the selection, I can already tell you have impeccable taste. Passionfruit without milk happens to be one my favorites."
☾⋆⁺₊⋆ Selin waited back a moment whilst they went to order them samples to try. It was a good idea really, when Selin wasn't able to make a decision without really knowing all of her options, why not try as many as possible? "Okay, that's so nice of you, thank you." Selin says with a kind smile before heading to one of the tables to take a seat. "Are you sure you can spare the time for this? I mean, I really do appreciate the help, but if you have somewhere to be it's okay, I don't want to keep you from your day with my indecisiveness." Selin chuckles a as she get's comfy with taking off her jacket and hanging it over the back of the chair.
"Hey! It doesn't sound like it's your fault. No reason to be sorry," he offered with a weak smile, shrugging his shoulders. Efe knew it was a thing people just said, of course, but he thought maybe he could be over-apologetic himself in some ways. Maybe he could help spread self-righteousness or something. "Yeah, I'll try. And I appreciate the sentiment, don't get me wrong, but I just feel like maybe I'm a little too...I don't know. Bulky? Square? I don't really bend the way all the good people bend." He laughed; flexibility was not quite his strongest suit. "That's a good attitude, but I don't think anyone would blame you if you had a stern talk with them all tomorrow. Unionize maybe."
☾⋆⁺₊⋆ There's a slight shrug of her shoulder in response because Selin would still feel bad about it. She supposed that it couldn't be helped, but maybe it was her fault as she was wondering if she'd forgotten to turn something off the night before that might have caused a fault. She wasn't an electrician - she really had no idea. "Well anyway, thanks for being nice about it." She appreciated that they weren't angry. "Oh, no, really, it's for anyone. I've seen people in their nineties participate in a class but they'd take it at their own pace. You don't have to do anything crazy, just do what feels right to you. How's your balance?"
Nodding at her personal requirements, Jonah glances back up at the board above, "I'm certain we can find something like that." He took his coffee with milk too sometimes, but more often than not it was black with maybe a little bit of sugar, not to say he didn't like sweet things, bitter coffee just worked for him. "How about the brown sugar flavour? That should be sweet and I think there's an option to add more sweetness too." He was out of his depth and just hoped the suggestion wouldn't entirely be off-wrong, but he had hopes, "I'll get the same, we can see together if it's good."
☾⋆⁺₊⋆ Selin considered his suggestion, thinking that anything with sugar had to be good. "Oh, you've not had that one before either? Alright, well I guess we can give it a try. What's the worst that could happen?" An eyebrow raised with Selin's question as did the corner of her mouth. She headed over to the counter to place the order for them both before turning back to them. "I'll get us these, and then if we don't like them at least you've not wasted your money."
─── · 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
“Yeah, why wouldn’t I? I mean I offered…” Trailing off as she raised an eyebrow at Selins’ questioning. Did people not offer to help her before. “That’s good. Trust me I won’t take it personal if you don’t.” She knew that her taste in coffee was rather basic to say the least. “Well right now,” She started and looked towards the board that had the holiday drinks listed. “A peppermint mocha.” She answered, then turned to Selin. “Does that sound like something you’d be interested in?”
☾⋆⁺₊⋆ The more time that Selin spent in Lunar Cove, the more she saw the kindness in strangers. Despite the news headlines recently, it really did feel like the right place to come to. And she was glad that they had. "Well, thanks." she says, smiling at the gesture. "Hmm, well it's definitely... different." Selin hadn't ever had anything like peppermint coffee, and even though she wasn't much of a tea drinker she had tried peppermint tea before and it really wasn't so bad. "I'll try it," Selin eventually decided with a nod, "Seeing as it sounds festive and in the spirit of the holidays."

When Selin waved off talk of being more vulnerable all Safiye could do was roll her eyes. “You shouldn’t be alone. Plus who are you going to call for help?” She asked, despite knowing the answer was probably her. “People around here have super strength, speed, and could use you as a blood bag if they wanted.” Or worse, she worried aloud. “I swear we need to get you a dog whistle.” She joked playfully. “That way I can always hear you.” Tucking her hair behind her ear, she crossed one leg over the other. “You don’t have too. Maybe I’m just not meant to be part of the pack?” Or maybe Nico didn’t want her to be apart of the pack. “Speaking of organizations you should look into the human collation or whatever it’s called. Maybe they offer some self defense training? Or at least can better prepare you for this town?” Suggesting with a slight smile. “I just worry bringing you here might be worse than if you stayed in Mystic. At least hunters wouldn’t harm you out there since you’re human.”
☾⋆⁺₊⋆ Selin's head turned to look at Safiye with a prompt response. "You." She grinned in a cheeky way, but couldn't always put that pressure on her sister. Selin would have to learn to defend herself somehow, but it would be far easier if she was also a wolf. That, however, was a topic of conversation for another day. "I'm sure you are. If I spot him around town i'll drop a couple of hints."
"That's not a bad idea. The self defense training I mean, not the dog whistle. I'll have a look into it and see if someone can tell me more about it -" though Selin didn't think there would be much point getting too involved "- there's got to be a pamphlet or a spokesperson who could tell me more." Selin pulled up her phone, checking the recent orders for her jewelry to see if she would have time to look into this more and whilst orders hadn't picked up as quickly as she had hoped it did leave her with some free time. "You worry too much Safiye, we came here together, and I'm not leaving without you. I'll be careful. I promise."
