𝑴𝑬𝑬𝑻 𝑩𝑨𝑫𝑹𝑼 𝑳𝑨𝒁𝑨𝑨𝑹 ... people often times cannot run from their history, no matter how hard they try. someone that was determined to make it out on his own was just shown the path that was laid out for him. this 27 year old son of medusa must decide where he lays in the battle.
BADRU PRAYS TO MEDUSA BEFORE LEAVING
maybe he shot himself in the foot. naade, reyla, and the other gorgon heir was something he needed to handle alone. the basque hills were also something he started on his own. his journey seemed to be a little more self interested than he initially thought. after the giant constrictor snake was downed in battle, he also realized he needed to protect them too.
in order to protect them, to see through what he was working on, he needed power. he collected the skin from the snake after they shed and went off into the woods. again, close to night fall, he let out another whispered prayer.
" medusa, goddess and protector, i call upon you once more. it's time for me to break out on my own and go help out reyla, naade, and angel. they need me more than the island does. i know i can help them, but i need your help first. " he takes in a deep breath and he gets down on his knees. he doesn't look up to the skies, but the ground around him.
" may you bestow another blessing upon me so that i may be strong enough to break them free. i am forever grateful to you and all of the connections you've given me, the power you've already blessed me with. i just know with a little more i can save all those waiting on me. "
" well. " reid takes a moment to consider how he feels about being called an old soul — the son of hinenuitepō offers an acknowledging nod and grin at the thought. " i guess, you're right. i like to consider myself pretty considerate, usually. methodical, even. but sometimes, even i don't get it right. probably where the old spirit comes from. "
huh? reid usually was pretty wise when it came to understanding sayings but now, with badru's insight — he had nothing truly to share as a comeback or an addition to their thoughts. " oh. so what are you using it for? just a mere observation? two good looking guys who enjoy the ebbs and flow of the ocean? "
"it's not an insult by the way, in case you think it is." some people are sensitive about that sort of stuff. even though badru doesn't get it, he doesn't want to hurt anyone's feelings. "not everyone is going to be perfect on their first try. it takes a lot of trial and error to get something down pact unless you're a prodigy. don't stress yourself out too much."
that caused a grin to form on the man's face. he loved this part of speaking with people. seeing exactly what he could say to make them trip up a little bit. "exactly that. in the future if someone asks for an attractive half god that's kind of an old soul, now i know who to connect them with. always good to have that information and observation stored."
riah continued to rub badru's back as he spoke. everything he said was a bit of a boost for him. " i'll try not to let it all go to my head, " he chuckled. he continued to massage the other's back. badru's shoulders were broad. the man had muscles, which riah was now currently feeling as he started to move down the other man. oil running down the back, he started to rub it on the man. " yea, i want to help. i'm not the most athletic, but i got brains. at least i can help you all there. and i can create a shield now, so that's something cool. " zachariah continues to massage badru, wanting to make sure he felt comfortable. " yea. i know everyone would end up killing if it meant protecting their love ones, it's only instinct. "
riah thought about the abilities. it was honestly so different from person to person. some of them just controlled things, others produced things. riah was with the former. he was fascinated though, with the things that badru could do. " so like, me touching you isn't going to poison me, right? " he teased. riah moved his hands lower, rubbing the oil on the man's lower back, eyes just studying the man's back muscles. the other really was physically beautiful, and his muscles on him made him aesthetically pleasing. " well, i like the way you're thinking, but i also want to be the one that can protect others. "
the man's hand's were soft and his voice was sweet like honey. badru was going to have to remember that when it came to future missions or just who to hang out with in general. " good, the last thing we need is another daughter of zeus running around here. " he moved his head over to the other side when riah started to work up his back. then he moved his hands down to the seat, curling his fingers around the edge. " sometimes being a brawn is overrated. you can probably go in and out of a mission without even being detected. that's a good thing. " he let out a pleasing noise at what was starting to be a massage. " exactly. some people just need to be pushed. "
whenever he told someone what he could do, he almost always got the same reaction. he couldn't blame them. snakes were known to be dangerous for anyone that was around them. their venom could even paralyze some opponents. " unless i produce the venom or acid you're going to be fine touching me. don't worry. " he smiled at the touches before the massage was done. then he turned around to face riah, wanting to see the other man again. " you said you can cast shields already, right? that's already one form of protection. i'm sure someone like you can come up with other unique ways. "

" 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐛𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠. but i don't need the whole queen bee going to my head. " he laughed. " plus, i don't think they can carry my weight. and i don't want to hurt them. " maybe in the future he may be able to fly like them. but he loved that he could communicate with them. hearing badru say that he'd end up being popular he chuckled. " you think so? i don't know, i'm not much of a fighter, but i guess i'm learning to be. i'm just glad i can help shield people now. " zachariah remembered the first time he used honey to create a shield. it was so interesting how everything worked for him. he was curious what else he'd be able to do later on. " well, that's admirable. wanting to protect those you love. i can't lie, i would do anything for my family. "
when badru finished, zachariah turned to look at him. he took the boottle from the other and he twirled his pointer finger to have the other turn so that he could apply the oil on him. " your turn. " he smiled. he was curious about everyone's abilities. he has only seen a few but still, it was all so interesting whenever he got to see them do what they did. " that sounds painful, is it painful? " riah asked. he squeezed the bottle lightly to get oil on his hand before he started on rubbing it on badru's back. " it's interesting. they can understand me, and i them. it sometimes does feel like i can be like a queen to them. it's strange, but cool. "
" i don't think it needs to go to your head necessarily. you can control bees and sometimes they need a leader to tell them where to go or what to do, right? i'm sure if it's enough of them and you can harden honey, you can find a way to make them lift you up. " to each their own though. he lifted his hands up in the air after he was done massaging the oil in as a sign that he was backing off. " you don't have to be a fighter to be in the midst of war. some armies have medics, shields, and people in the background to help them even the odds. " there was so much all of them could do. he witnessed it firsthand with naade and reyla then at the training with lev and his shark. " everyone has a trigger. someone or a couple of people they would risk it all for. those that say they don't are liars. "
since it was his turn, he turned around on his heels and then plopped on down on the beach bed. when zachariah started to massage the oil onto his back, he lowered his head a bit so that the man could get access to whatever it was that he wanted. " more weird than painful. my body naturally produces it now, so think of it as you sweating, crying, or doing anything else of that nature. it can come out of my fingers and my mouth. " still strange, but badru knew he had to get used to it. seeing reyla use it herself in the form of a venom spit really did help him get accustomed to his own powers. " you see! they are the bee and you are the queen. embrace it. don't run away from that connection. they need a leader to protect. "
updates andreas + researches xeres
after an immersive experience and meeting gasper, trixi, kai, and angel, badru stops by to update andreas. he recaps everything about basque hills, so much for that confidentiality clause. hey, he didn't have to sign an NDA!
then he goes into further detail on three names. angel, the potential recruit that gave him a warning. gasper, the one that seems to be in charge, at least on the main floors, and that wants his talisman. then xeres, the one that's probably really in charge and the boss battle.
finally, with or without andreas, he heads on over to the library to do some research on xeres. he wants to know the history of that person and whether or not what he finds can help him in conversation. he knows this is much bigger than him and will take some time, but he's patient.
badru contacts reyla + naade
not wanting to let them think that he forgot about them, badru goes back out into the forests. at this rate, he feels like he lvies there. he tosses his ring on the ground and summons his giant constrictor snake. at first, he has a casual conversation with her, but then he gets down to business.
"do you think you can send a message to reyla? just that i prayed to medusa and it seems like i'll have to earn my power, but i did find another community to investigate. basque hills. i feel like i'm ready to help her and naade free the others, but if they want me to wait i'll stay back here for a little longer. i just don't want them to die if i'm too late."
"i appreciate your restraint." forest laughs softly, confident that he could handle himself against, well, almost anyone here. still, he'd rather not engage in combat with any of his peers, he wasn't the type to make a fool of himself.
"amateratsu." he throws his head back, sighing as he gives himself a moment to just... relax, soak in the relative peace of their current location. "i'm the only representative we've got as of now," it was starting to feel foreboding, like something bad was coming. "but i'm enjoying it. it can be fun."
"you don't have one of those punchable faces, so you should appreciate that about yourself." he also just didn't see the point in attacking anyone on the island. weren't they all on the same side? or so he thought.
"ahh, now it all does make sense." he could sympathize with being the only one, so there was a silent nod from his side. "it doesn't get much easier than, being the only one, does it?" on an island so big, he thought they weren't going to need to worry about that. "i'm glad that you're having fun at least."
To be fair, anyone could come to the library, but the man who entered didn't seem the type to read whatsoever. He didn't judge, though, reading was nice, and the quietness of the library was inspiring, too. So maybe he had come for the same reasons that Eryx had: inspiration.
"I'm trying to write a poem for my blog," he explained. "The silence of the library helps plus, if I grow bored, I can pick a book. What about yourself? Looking for something in particular to read?"
Often times he still had to remember that creative outlets still exited. Just because he couldn't keep stripping on the island didn't mean that others had to throw their dreams aside. He did raise a brow at Eryx's revelation, looking him over. He was going to have to find that blog one of these days.
"Do you know what's the main message that you want for it? I've heard that also helps." He grinned slightly. "Sounds like you have a solid game plan. I'm just here to read more about how to help my cousins, or who I think are my cousins, get free from a spider goddess."
was it really so bad to be someone who let himself be driven by the heat of the moment ? aleki knew that not thinking things through could lead to mistakes. to dangers. to unforeseen circumstances. but it could also end things before they could get any worse. or maybe, it could also make way for things that he would otherwise let pass by him after some thought. aleki preferred to keep of all the thinking... and pondering... and reflections in his moments of solitude ────── ruminations could sometimes be paralyzing, and he'd rather just act than contemplate every choice... every meaning... every punctuation. so, he splashed badru once again. " i mean, who even really cares about how things connect ? it's all just sentiments, and emotions, and seeing what you want to see. " aleki shrugged. and maybe, it was just another reason why reid decided they weren't meant for each other. it hurt him to think about it. he was always ruled by impulse, actions, and gesture, while reid was always so far away... in his head, with his emotions, at a palace he was never quite allowed to breach. " i'd rather put my hands to work than get lost in something so... i don't know, whimsical. " a chuckle as he swam closer towards badru until they were just a foot apart, hands reaching for the other demigod's shoulders. example i of aleki putting his hands to work : he jumped and playfully pushed badru down underwater. but aleki immediately dived under the surface, too, a huge smile on his lips as he watched the other demigod's reaction. " sorry, couldn't resist. " he said as he shook off the water as soon as he resurfaced, laughing lightly.
people often times thought that badru was much smarter than what he gave himself credit for. perhaps it was because he was such a good liar, at least when he wasn't speaking to a sentient body of water. he was right alongside anyone who preferred the more reckless side of life. making connections and throwing yourself into something head first without thinking. so far, andreas had been the only one who made him slow down a bit and actually put his mind to something before heading out of the island. normally however? he was all for just letting fate do its thing as one followed their impulse. life was much more fun that way. " a lot of people care about how things are connected, but a lot is also left up to interpretation. do you know how hard it is to convince someone that the sky is blue only to then find out they're colorblind? " badru was going to retaliate by sending another wave of water over to splash aleki, but then he was submerged underneath the water. he quickly had to hold his breath and felt his fight or flight kicking in. luckily for the redhead, he could tell that they was all in the name of fun. especially when he dove underneath himself as well. when he was finally able to swim back up and take a deep breath, his eyes basically shot daggers over to the redhead. " i'm starting to think that you're more trouble to have around than anything else. what do you mean you couldn't resist? do you want to kill me that badly? " he needed to think of ways to get back at him, but for now he would just continue floating.
"hammocks. smart." he grinned, showing just enough teeth to give a taste of what would otherwise be a near-blinding smile he unleashed the full might of it. the solution given would allow him to pass the time but soak in some time in the sun simultaneously. he didn't need the latter but he loved to do it all the same. before he knew his heritage he was a california boy, through and through. he just hoped the thing could handle him with the extra weight of the breastplate armor. that shit took too long to get in and out of for him to risk getting that comfortable.
catching the fingers toying with the ring, his eyes linger on the other's hands for a moment before flicking back up to his face and giving the generic 'hey' head nod greeting. "gabriel, by the way."
"once you find a comfortable place to relax around here, it'll be hard to let it go." badru wasn't one to make most places his home. he was used to shedding his skin, metaphorically, and quickly moving on. yet, the whole point of being in ark island was to make connections. be a bit more stable and find ways to work with other people. after all, they were fighting for the same thing. right? that's why he was grateful for the training simulations. he hadn't been on a group quest quite yet, so these were great to show him how to work in a team.
careful not to summon the giant constrictor snake, badru drops his hands and stops playing with the ring. he needs to be focused and thinking for naade or reyla wasn't going to help. "nice to meet you. i'm badru."
" you think i'm old? " reid makes a little face, an embarrassing acknowledgment that it wasn't something he ever considered before. did he act like an old man? was the youthfulness of his spirit sapped by his own eccentric curiosities, oh no.
" i think there's space for everything in the world. it's the complexities that make it spin with destiny and freedom so intertwined. " it's why he knew that he was to experience whatever was in front of him and took it on the chin ; even the hurt, yearning, or frustration. " does flirting always work for you? "
" not physically. you just have an old soul surrounding you. some people would take that as a compliment. " now he's starting to wonder if reid is some people. the face is endearing, yet again, but he can't get the best of readings on him. he really wished he paid more attention to people in the daytime now.
" if there's space for everything, then surely there's also space for nothing. one must be careful as it's a blurry line. " badru doesn't know what the hell he's saying. he's just trying to sound as wise as the other one across from him. " no. also, for future reference, just because someone calls you attractive doesn't mean that they're flirting with you. "
prays to medusa for power
in preparation not only for basque hills, but also to end up going back to reyla & naade to help save the other gorgon heir, badru feels it's time to step his game up. he collects a couple of items and then heads out to the mountains near the temple. he doesn't go into the temple, instead he twists his ring and summons his serpent.
he smiles softly at the serpent and starts speaking in a language only them and those related to them will understand.
"i'll try to commune with her so i can help out our friends some more."
after setting the bowl on the ground, he props the mirror against one of the tree. beauty is a part of her domain and he finds himself beautiful. then he places a fish net shirt from his exotic dancing days, one that looked like he could do a snake's makeup if he used it. finally, some frankincense and he lit it inside of the bowl.
"medusa, thank you for putting me on the right path to save those connected to us. now i humbly gather here with my new mate to ask you for power. bestow with me that which you see fit to go back and kill arachne's army, to help save the last trapped. to go to basque hill and get answers. to continue to protect those that cannot protect themselves. please, mother."
badru researches the basque hills
after his conversation with andreas, badru quickly gathers his things and heads on over to the library. he tries to collect any information he can on the basque hills and then sits down with their guidance. he takes out a small journal and his own pen, jotting quick notes on anything that he can find. he looks for anyone that might be a good ally for them there or any way to convince someone from that region to join ark island. this was going to be fun!

𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 been a struggle for zachariah. " i'm good with animals, but when it comes to winged ones–– yea, i struggle with those. unless it's my bees. they seem to be the only ones that like me. " he chuckled. every single time, he has been struggling with the winged creatures. riah let out a soft sigh when he felt the fingers dig into his skin. " please don't say that. i'm not manifesting it. i want to enjoy some down time. " that's all riah wanted for the next couple days. sometimes they deserve to enjoy the beach and spend time away. the mention of being a lover, riah laughed lightly. " yes, i guess i'm more of a lover. " he said, looking over his shoulder to look at badru. " what about you, are you more of a lover or a fighter? " he asked. when he heard the godly parent, he was surprised. " medusa. wow. so like–– you can control snakes, or you got the extreme beauty, cause certain stories said she was the most beautiful women in her day. " he smiled. " my father is ah muzen cab. his domain was bees and honey. "
they were going to have to get creative if they wanted to survive the war. " in the future, you should just ride your bees to battle. make a chariot out of them or something. " would that hurt them though? he didn't know, but he was just there to shoot ideas not think about the semantics of them. " i won't say it, but at some point you're going to be so popular that everyone's going to want you on their mission. you should get used to that. " badru continued to massage the sunscreen into riah's body and then he made it down to his lower back. finally, he finished the massage and then closed the bottle. " i think i'm more of a fighter, but it's because i'm trying to protect those that i love. " a shrug of his shoulders. he didn't know if that was the best explanation. " neither, at least for now. i can just produce different types of venom from my body. " he grinned. " that explains the bees comment. how does that connection go? "
