taeyong had seen his younger brother exactly once since the younger male arrived on campus. and that was the day that he had helped him move his stuff into his new office. the interaction itself had been pretty short and awkward – much like all their other interactions. it had occured to him that now that they were in the same vicinity maybe they could work on creating an actual relationship with each other. however, he didn’t really know how to even begin with that. they had been so distant from each other for such a long time that it seemed impossible for them to bridge the gap now. and since the death of taesung’s girlfriend things had gotten even worse with taeyong being the one to reach out periodically when before it had been tae. he didn’t know how to even approach his brother any more.
he was supposed to be writing lesson plans at the moment. but he was distracted. somehow he figured that was going to be a theme throughout the year. or rather a theme for as long as he was conflicted about reaching out to tae. which would definitely be a while considering the tangle of emotions that he had regarding his little brother.
and then as if summoned by the force of taeyong’s thoughts taesung was slipping through his office door. he must’ve knocked but taeyong had been so consumed with his own thoughts that he’d missed it. the first thing he was aware of when his brother entered was that his own wings were visible, he folded them slightly closer to his back feeling oddly self-conscious. he forced a smile, pushing the thought out of his mind quickly so that he didn’t have to think too much about it. “hi, tae.” he said it came out a little stiffer than intended, as his words always seemed to around his little brother. “are you settling in well?”
tae had the hope that this interaction wouldn’t go at all like their first. he didn’t want to only be there a few minutes for talking to taeyong to end up going awkward and south as soon as they opened their mouths. he wanted to actually.. be around the elder honestly. he wanted to try and speak to him like when they were kids before all of this had happened, before they realised their powers. it always made him wonder, if neither or only one of them had received a power, would their relationship still be as awkward and near nonexistent as it was now? it was a thought that tae couldn’t help but have often honestly. but either way, he had the feeling, worry, that if he didn’t try anything now whilst they were both in a vicinity of being able to meet more, then they’d probably never speak too each other much.
when he entered, there was probably a slight look of worry on his face really, concern, more for how all of this would go anyway. but he watched when taeyong’s wings folded more, took it in without really meaning to honestly-- it was a stupid thought, but sometimes he envied the fact that his brother could hide them. in tae’s case, he couldn’t stop them being on show unless he hid them under his clothes completely. but is uncomfortable, almost painful for him. but maybe it was the price in the fact that tae only had wings, whereas his brother.. well, he had other things that modified how he looked.
“huh?-- oh. yea, i am.. yea.“ he mumbled, rubbing at his neck a little sheepishly at the fact he’d let himself get distracted in his thoughts for a moment. the younger hovered by the door for now though, not actually sure if he could walk in and take a seat, or wait and see how this was all going to go. “it’s weird-- teaching, i mean. or being back here, i guess.“ it made him think back on his past in imperium honestly. whilst others were questioned on their gleam status’, no one had been able to fault tae on his. not that it meant he’d ever flaunted it anyway. but well, for the angel he was right now though, he looked pretty awkward trying to talk to his brother like nothing was wrong with them.
