if you actually think about it Killjoys and Steven Universe are kind of the same thing.

Leader of the group dies and the rest of the team has to raise their curly haired child and they fight agaisnt evil people!! AND BOTH KIDS HAVE POWERS.

The only difference would be that the leader in killjoys is actually not dead but the killjoys die eventually leaving the girl behind.

While the gems are still alive and took care of Steven 😭

Canonically, in danger days universe, there's a superstition that you can't ascend if nobody puts your mask in the mailbox after your death. Party Poison's restless soul roamed the zones for 12 years before the Girl put his mask in a mailbox. What a pity that he will never meet his friends on the other side. Ghoul, Jet, and Kobra are doomed to wander the mortal realm forever, for their masks are lost in the sands of zones.
