“Watchfully waiting” for women to die?
I learned when I was 15 that when a fertilized egg implants, it’s THERE (save circumstances that lead to loss of pregnancy). Normally it implants in the uterus, where it should implant. Then, barring any of the circumstances referenced earlier, it grows into a viable fetus.
In ectopic pregnancies, the fertilized egg implants in Not The Uterus (usually Fallopian tubes). This means it’s not going to move. This means it’s never going to be viable because it’s fixed in the Wrong Goddamn Place.
This means it CANT ever become a baby, and it WILL be life-threatening for the person carrying the never-able-to-be-born embryo. This isn’t about “saving the baby’s life” because it can and never will be a baby. It’s 100% about controlling women’s (and other ppl with vaginas) bodies.
And I know this all from 9th grade biology. That’s how pathetically uninformed pro-lifers are.
Fun fact: The chance of ectopic pregnancy increases with many forms of sterilization, particularly tubal ligation. So even if you go through the trouble of finding a doctor who will perform sterilization of you, fighting your insurance to cover the procedure, and probably paying for the everything out of pocket just so you can’t have kids, the pro-lifers will still try to fuck up your life cause you have a vagina C: Source: my fucking life
So many eptopic pregnancies resolve themselves... This is why doctors would 'wait and watch' rather then treat through 'abortive' medicines or surgical removal.
And in cases that surgery or medicines are used, the unborn is already dead (not developing), rather the embryotic cells are simply cloneing themselves (unlike a living embryo that does develop) based off the little energy they have originally and can pulled from the tub walls.
So eptopic removals are not true abortions in the same way that miscarriages (and removing miscarriages) are not abortions.
And waiting and watching isn't controlling a woman's body until she's too far gone. Rather it's an observing period to see if intervention is even needed, so as to not put unnecessary stress on the woman.
