Part 1 Notes and Details

So in this comic I focused a lot on the ideas that a comic @ditalini2 posted about Rockie and Pete brought up:

- Rockie doesn't have any friends outside of Pete which they mentioned was due to his aggressive nature/attitude

- from what I interpreted (which I'm not sure was intentional or not), Rockie stood still lost in thought— well more so the realization that he's alone

I noticed that this was similar to how I have my character Dahlia (their situations are similar at least)

Although, Dahlia is just more so just excluded when it comes to the people she chooses to hang around (NWCC and The club; not being a member of either group)

The first page is meant to show the similarities visually when Pete and Jerry leave to attend their club meeting.

Extra details: I think Rockie talks with his hands a lot— like with motions to emphasize his thoughts. So the bottom left panel was mostly to show Rockie thinking about Pete without having to write it out.

Rockie's behaviors

So I tried to make Rockie come across as zoned out until Dahlia bumps into him, which he reacts harshly to. Even after she apologized, he still looks upset

Extra details: Something I also took into consideration for this part was how Dahlia associates herself heavily with the NWCC. (I'm pretty sure Rockie doesn't have the best opinions about them which I assume would then extend to her)

Also I decided to use blank paper for this comic instead of lined to portray the loneliness they both felt— but this was more so me being extra about something that could be easily overlooked.

- this also makes Dahlia's crowded thoughts seem louder against the background

This comic is also meant to reference a hypothetical storyline that Evan Dorkin had mentioned about Agnes and Jerry. (Basically if Jerry or Pete miss a club meeting for Dahlia/Rockie, Bill and the other club members would retaliate and ruin their relationships somehow)

I wannna make an eltingville Oc and get in on the funnsies and silky times but I’m so lame and new to this- any advice?

Not too sure I have any advice other than have fun and don't be an asshole to others who are also trying to have fun

I'd love to see your OC if you do end up making it! Honestly, it's so cool seeing everyone having fun and making stories with the eltingville club characters and even other OCS! Good luck man

Did you guys know that Dahlia is Iffy's northwest comix collective counterpart? Probably not because my dumbass forgot to mention it🥀🥀

They're supposed to be opposites— and they were at first, but now they've grown into their own characters separately.

Like how Iffy isn't in the EC, Dahlia isn't actually a member of the NWCC. Although Iffy declined her offer and wants nothing to do with the club. Dahlia is the opposite since she begs the collective members everyday to join and is a bit obsessed with them.

I haven't drawn anything in a while, let alone had any IDEAS of what exactly to draw

This isn't the best— especially since I don't know if I drew them right💔 but I wanted to draw them for @ditalini2 because I don't see fanart of them often

(I was listening to a song and this lyric made me think of them— although I'm not too sure if it's accurate or not)

I was thinking about how a comic introducing Iffy and Kevin would play out

A bit of background information on the two:

Jamie Watts (later known as Iffy) used to be friends with Bill before the club was founded. She was originally intended to be the second member, but she declined. As Bill spent more time with the club members, him and Jamie drifted apart. They're both very bitter about it (both blaming the other instead of themselves).

Kevin Watts is Jamie's older brother. While he didn't personally grow a friendship with Bill, he was around when Jamie and him were close. Bill had thought of offering him an honorary spot, but since Jamie had already declined he decided not to.

Hypothetical Plot:

When arguing about who met who first and the rightful order of the club name, Bill accidentally reveals that the guys hadn't been the only members.

I might digitalize this to make it look more like an eltingville club comic cover— I also might sketch out the comic if I feel motivated enough. It honestly might be an interesting story, but maybe I think that because they're MY ocs🥀🥀

I've made another Eltingville Club OC and I feel like talking about them🥀

Casey isn't a very detailed character as I plan for him to be similar to Willoughby. (As in he'll see the club frequently, even interact with them— but they won't have any major parts in storylines)

I think of him being close enough to everyone to hold a conversation but not much more than that— and in terms of the club, they're probably closest to Josh.

Casey isn't really a fan of anything, but they do enjoy learning bits and pieces of different medias from whomever buys bootlegs from him.

I'll have more to say about them at some point, this is all just surface levels things I've thought up while writing my different ocs.

I like to scribble down notes and ideas before making any of my comics, so here are all my Pocky notes from my most recent comic‼️( @ditalini2 )

Pete defends Rockie

There's a few times throughout the comics that Pete passionately defends his interests and opinions. (This includes the bit about the sharp teeth btw— bc whenever they're feeling strong emotions, I draw the club with sharper teeth)

I thought that this would extend to Rockie in some way. So in the comic, Pete gets upset that Rockie is being brought up (and being used against him in a way)

I also included the spiked bracelet showing in the last panel of the 2nd page (Nothing big, just thought it'd be a nice visual to add to show how close Pete and Rockie are during this part)

Usage of Names

So, I might sound insane... But the way names are thrown around in this comic matter somewhat.

Jerry and Bill's names are thrown around as an accusation or a way to place blame— Rockie's name is used like this once from Josh.

When Pete and Rockie say each other's name, it's used as a way to catch and keep each other's attention— closing off their conversations from any other present characters. (Well yes.. this is just how names are normally used but wait💔 I'm not good at explaining) It's more intimate ig.. I think that's basically what I'm saying

Holding Hands

Previously existing Pocky art mentions Pete seeks out Rockie for comfort (Going to his house and such)— so even though they're not together in this comic, Pete still ends up holding Rockie's hand after he yells at the club

I don't know what to call this part

So this might be a bit out of character for comic/pilot Pete, but since I was focusing on Rockie's and Pete's dynamic at this point— I decided to just trust my gut (so the next bit is based off of Pocky art)

So Pete has trouble putting into words how exactly he feels about Rockie. (That or he just doesn't say it aloud so he doesn't have to accept it)

When talking to Rockie on the last two pages, Pete keeps the argument that happened and what was said during it very vague. I feel he did this to avoid having to tell Rockie that he (Rockie) had been brought up and to hide the fact that he (Pete) had gotten so defensive over it.

There's probably more (my handwriting is a bit illegible) and definitely unintentional details that just worked out, but if anything needs further explanation please ask🥀 I know I'm not too good at wording things
