We love the long and storied history of St. Stephen and the Incarnation Episcopal Church — they gave women the right to vote in parish meetings a full eight years before the U.S. Constitution recognized women's suffrage. In 1957, their congregation was first to be racially integrated in the District, and the progressive church was an early home to DC's iconic hardcore punk scene (Fugazi played there in 1987). Alas, now Josef is the first person to be photographed semi-nude* in this hallowed sanctuary.

Monday Brain Bang

After Sunday's epic GAYFACE photo party at The Dunes with star LGBT photog Ashley Kolodner, managed to completely ignore St Patrick's Day and we are ready for the week ahead.

Exciting news!

On Tuesday Josef will be among the panelists who will recommend the DCCAH whatever is to be done about the Lincoln Theater on U Street. Lisa will be there live tweeting probably. Tune in @bitchintweetZ around midday.

LATER THAT EVENING, off, to the premiere screening of Chris Palmer's Shooting in the Wild, at American University. Along with his film, winners of the eco-comedy short film competition will also be shown one of which may or may not be Lisa's unicorn documentary/propaganda film, UNICORNICOPIA.

Probably some other things will happen this week but most important will be Saturday's Leukemia Ball. No, we don't think its the best name per sé, but this benefit earns millions for blood cancer research each year AND means we get to dress up fancy.

And here's the fun part:

Our friend here in DC, Creative Director, has given us a table at the Ball, and has charged us with the task of filling it with some clever, social media savvy, formalwear-friendly blood cancer fighting champions. So, we want you to nominate folks that you think will either benefit from getting to go, really deserve a fancy night, or will just keep us entertained through dinner, to win two tickets each to the Ball. Think ER nurses, health activists, folks who have been affected by blood cancer, civil servants, Cinderella, your friend that bought a tux and the engagement is off, someone who knows magic tricks, a unicorn... You get the idea. We'll choose three winners, so six tickets total are ready for the taking.

Just FYI: these tickets generally go for $1000 each, so this is kindof a big deal for all of us baby philanthropists out there (ahem, Lisa). One small step for (hu)man...

POST VALENTINE CHOCOLATE APOCALYPSE

Today one of the bitchin' crew woke up to find a box of chocolates on their desk. Upon opening said box, it was discovered that someone (who knows who, really) had eaten exactly one bite of exactly EVERY chocolate in the box.

Then, that same person ate raw vegan black bean brownie batter for breakfast.

This is what it is like to be bitchin', people!

In order to atone for whatever mayhem (romantic or otherwise) you may have incurred on St. Valentine's Eve, our recommendation for tonight is to keep things POSITIVE by checkin' out the all-ages show (and corresponding food drive for wonderful DC food/love/everything justice advocates We Are Family) put on by Positive Force DC at St. Stephen's. Two saints in two days, in honor of His (Soon-to-be-ex) Popeliness, @Pontifex.

The great DC protest-punk duo, The Evens (with Ian MacKaye & Amy Farina) will be playing at 8pm, so bring some non-perishable foodstuffs and hang/rock/punk out with some of the best people in DC, who are like, actually saints.

Bitchin' and moanin' about injustice, bad fashion, rice with no pomegranate seeds etc

Shinin' a bitchin' li'l spotlight on artistic, rebellious, unexpected, and non-institutional projects

FABULOUS

But most likely a potent and highly flammable combination of all three.

As such, we now must take a moment to highlight NUMERO DOS, and invite all of you people to the premiere of our wonderful friend and producer Linsay Deming's new webisode series, THE SHWEBISODES. We didn't even know what "webisode" meant until now, so this is really saying something. We've gotten a sneak peek at the first few episodes of this series, and mark our words, this group is going to be a YouTube phenomenon very soon. Linsay's husband Ted is the editorial mastermind behind the series, but all four of the main characters have worked tirelessly to create something truly unique and optimistic (which we generally wouldn't relate to, but for which we are making an exception).

At the premiere, at the dubious Wonderland Ballroom (if you haven't been let this be the proverbial champagne bottle cracking over your hull) you will meet the cast, play their insane parlor game CORKPOKE (it is just like it sounds, but you need to see it for yourself) and see the artistic manifestations of all four cast members.

They are all total weirdos and all totally charming. You will need the good vibes after Mardi Gras, the "State of the Union," and Pope Whats-his-name's resignation...

Monday Brain Bang: District of Crapola??

Did any of you read this Page Six rant from Cindy Adams in the New York Post last week?

DISTRICT OF CRAPOLA

It is always interesting to see how New Yorkers and other opinionated non-Washington-dwellers react to the District, with all of its extremes and contradictions. Adams delegitimizes herself by coming off like a hyperbolic madwoman but she has some points which are undeniable. For instance, how good we are at self-congratulating while parts of the city/country/population at large are marginalized and left to rot in obscurity.

She neglects, however, to actually open her eyes to any groundswell of self-reflection, or any glimmers of hope of creative or self-healing development in the District, much to her own detriment. Hopefully Bitchin' (with our new episode, "Bitchin' 'Bout the Battle of the Bulge" going live tomorrow) will be one of those unexpected shiny things that reflect some light on homegrown improvements and local revolutions happening here every day.

Last fall, I dated a guy who was really into yoga and convinced me to try out his hot yoga studio. I had not done much yoga before meeting him and in fact poo-poo’d yoga in general. I didn’t like the chanting and I didn’t think it was athletic enough for me. Plus, there were usually too many...

BREAKING INAUGURAL NEWS!!!

Two extremely important things just happened to us, almost simultaneously. 

We found out that FAUX MOT, the short film directed and produced by Lisa, Victor, and Hantz and starring Josef Palermo, Catalina Lavalle, Andrew Bucket, and Lauren Harper, won the Audience Choice Award at its premiere at the Corcoran's Mobile Movie Film Festival! Yes, FAUX MOT is now officially and award-winning film. Sundance next year, no doubt.

Second, and most importantly, we were just made aware of the existence of UNICORN LEGGINGS!!! Don't even THINK about bidding on these bad boys. Need... unicorns... on... everything...
