TONIGHT from 8-10pm in the Reading Room! be there!
My Strathmore Artist in Residency month is coming up in April! I'll be performing two different sets on April 8th and April 22nd and I'll be leading a free workshop on April 15th.
On April 8th, I'll be performing material off of Dérive and will collaborate with some of my fellow AIRs as well as my AIR mentor Allyn Johnson.
On April 22nd, Ethan and I will bring back our extended chamber ensemble to highlight songs from my upcoming album Spirit House.
During my workshop on April 15th, I'll be talking about my songwriting process and how I harness intuition and imagination as well as stream-of-consciousness.
Ethan and I had our first rehearsal with the full ensemble this past Sunday at The Fold!
This coming Sunday, February 22nd, we will give our most ambitious concert yet, an evening of music entitled Land, Air and Sea.
As part of the University of Maryland's Common Tone concert series, we have brought together some of the best classical, jazz, and rock musicians in the area to play new arrangements Ethan wrote for my songs. Joining us will be the absolutely stunning Excelsa Quartet (just back from Graz, Austria, where they were finalists in the Schubert and Modern Music Competition), as well as drummer Alan Kayanan, trumpeter Neil Brown, trombonist Matt Hotez, and multireedist Brian Falkowski. The concert is at 7:00 p.m. at Busboys and Poets in Hyattsville, Maryland and it is FREE. Please join us as we traverse a vast landscape of styles and sounds, bringing intimate songwriting together with kaleidoscopic ensemble arrangements to create some truly powerful music.

Made it to $4000 on my Kickstarter today. Can we make it to my end goal of $6000 before time's up at midnight tonight? By backing my project, you can help me get there!

I had my first rehearsal yesterday with part of the ensemble that wil play on Spirit House. Because it's really hard to get ten musicians with crazy schedules in a room together at once, we've decided to run through the songs with different sections of the ensemble.
Ethan spent the past three months churning out arrangements for these songs and I've been practicing along to the midi versions. Hearing these melodies come to life from these skilled musicians made me elated.
Later on, we went through some other songs to develop grooves and electric ambiance, and on Friday, we're getting together with invoke, the string quartet, to go over their parts.
Our prep work is almost done - now I'm looking forward to more full days of creating, recording, and performing!
Also - DCist ran their interview feature where I talk about music and the long way to the top if you wanna rock n roll. Check it here!
I know it's a pretty pricey reward, but for $500, Ethan & I will come and play a private concert within a five hour distance of the DC/Baltimore area, and for $1000, I'll be able to bring a cellist and and a violinist with me. Part of thatreward money would go towards Spirit House, but other poritions would cover travel expenses as well as go towards the musicians performing. (Photo credit: Seanie Blue, J.W.
