She thought on the question for a long moment. “Okay, a woman of means, of power, tends to be lonely. Judging by your budding romance with Kolya, I’m not your type, so I wouldn’t try to seduce you, unless I thought I could offer you what no man could, completely and utterly. Which means I would assert myself in a place of subordination to you, offer you companionship but make you feel as if I were the one who was in need of a friend, make you feel more powerful make you feel necessary,” she said, nodding to her words. “But those games get old, and I find nothing and no one to be necessary.”
The mention of the Russian spy caused her smile to falter, though only for a moment before Toni made sure the expression was back in full force as she then turned to refill her glass.
Listening to the woman talk was...irritating but only because had she not explained what her old habits had been like ( or that she was no longer interested in such games ) as it would be nice to feel necessary for once -- for more than just her inventions or money. “It sounds like you do need a friend, but I’ll have to disappoint you and say that I’d make a poor friend. Ask Rhodey.”
