~~Hiatus~~
Hey lovelies! I’m on an indefinite hiatus - not due to anything here, only a lack of time and energy. If/when I do return I will be happy to pick up any arcs in progress.
In the meantime I will still be active as Negaduck over at the Darkwing Duck / Ducktales roleplay site Duckverse!

The question startled Morgana out of her focus. Of all the things she expected, it wasn’t an audience, but it wasn’t unwelcome either.
“My familiar seems to have gotten himself stuck up a tree.” Folding her arms to eye the familiar in question. “Being a spider, he could get himself down at any time, of course, but sometimes he can be rather stubborn.”
Oh yes, talking about the situation as if it was as normal as a mere cat stuck up a tree. Well, much stranger things had happened.
⊱🎀⊰ —my familiar? does that mean a part of the family or a friend? or maybe that’s a combination of ‘friend of the family’. whatever it meant, that means that she must be friends with a spider!
❝oh gosh, does he n-need any help? i can g-get a ladder or… or a little net so he c-can jump into it!❞
A smile. “That’s an awfully sweet suggestion.” And she meant that as a positive.
“He can get himself down fine though. He just needs some reassurance that he won’t see the unfriendly end of a newspaper if he does.”
Honestly, he could come across as grumpy enough without people hitting him with hairspray. What was that even about?
“Some Norma-- non-magic users are quick to squish that which they do not understand.”
A fact of which applied to more than just spiders.
Morgana dear, what on EARTH is the hideous thing on your face? Oh... wait. It IS your face.
"Why, Malicia, what brings you out from under your rock?"
While technically delivered with a smile, it wasn’t the sort you would call kind.
"Bulk anti-ageing potion shipment?"
Tutu shook her head earnestly, hair and feathers bouncing. “Oh, no- of course not!”
Not if the sorceress was accompanied by, and vouched for, the princess. The castle staff and guards- though still somewhat wary of and more than a little exasperated by the constant stream of animals and people she brought in and out- had more or less grown used to it.
“Knowledge has no purpose if it isn’t shared, after all- at least, that’s what my tutor says.” She smiled, cocking her head to one side.
“Your tutor sounds wise.”
Stepping alongside the girl, assuming she was ready to lead the way by foot.
“Do they have much experience with enchantments?”
Not wanting to assume, it was always good to have some sort of gauge on how magic-aware strangers were, and a polite question about one’s teacher could never hurt. Not that this Tutu seemed anything other than warm and hospitable.

DW, overjoyed that his beloved sorcerer had agreed to come along, waited for her outside.
“Excellent! I’ll be outside with the Ratcatcher! Trust me Morgana, you’re going to love this~!”Drake’s mind was adrift with love and excitement, eager to get things started.
Floating on happiness - and whatever it was she usually floated on - Morgana drifted to her dressing table. It was only as she was applying a nice, cheerily dark lipstick to her bill that Archie scurried across her shoulder.
“Well of course I’ll tell him,” she replied to his demanding grumbles.
“Let’s just see how this goes first.”
Freshening up done, she returned everything to its place.. and pushed a large box of glimmering gold further out of sight, just in case.
Out on the Manor’s entranceway, she appeared as a vision, hoping her pose was as sultry as her purr.
“I’m ready.”
But was he?

“Cousin?” Oh, so she was kin. Could hardly begrudge her for that.
“Family can be a handful, can’t they.”
And she spoke from experience.
A smile, and she stepped back from their work. Somehow it had ended up with two heads, but that was hardly an abnormal sight.
“What do we use for the face? Er, faces.”

“Hey, Morgana baby.” Negaduck chimed in his usual sadistic tone, sliding up over to the magic user with a toothy grin. Knife in hand, the villain began to run his fingers of the straight-edge, glancing towards her out of the corner of his eye. “Where’s your idiot boyfriend this time? Get in an argument again?”
“That’s none of your concern.”
That knife made her edgy - pun pun - but Morgana did not move. There was no way she would allow herself to be intimidated by the lowest of lowlife scum such as Negaduck.
“The question should be where is Warden Waddlesworth? Aren’t you out of Supervillain Prison a little early for your 1,397 consecutive life sentences?”

Whew. She bought it and he was spared from becoming pudding…for now at least. He didn’t want to deal with any magical shenanigans today!
Unaware of Morgana’s inner frustrations, he continued.
“Well most of it will be a surprise, buuuut to kick things off…how about we go eat over at La Grande Yuppe? You know, St.Canard’s extravagant 5-star restaurant? I got a reservation and if we hurry we’ll make it in time.”
It wasn’t cheap,and it certainly didn’t have any of that atrocious ‘monster food’ that made him sick just by looking at it, so he hoped she would be happy with his choice!
“Oh!” A reservation there would have taken weeks of planning - or the careful pulling of some strings - and the fact that Darkwing had gone to such an effort was certainly a pleasant change.
Buoyed by curiosity, and a certain girlish hope she wouldn’t admit to, Morgana moved for the hallway. “Okay then, just let me.. powder my beak.”
And give me a moment maybe to process this.

Deep within the garden, a vine curtain was parted with a magical wave of a hand.
“No no, I swear, it should’ve been right… here.”
The sorceress floated over to a patch of light to reveal a staggering.. nothing.
“Oh.”
Not part of the plan, was it?
The birds were twittering excitedly- something about a stranger in the garden. Having finished her morning ballet practice and tutoring, Tutu went to investigate. Most likely it was a lost civilian who had wandered in by accident, or another forest nymph hiding out from woodcutters or fauns.
After meandering around for a bit, she heard a voice, seemingly talking to itself, and followed it to a secluded corner, where more of the unusual herbs and plants were grown. Peeping cautiously around the wall, she saw an elegantly- if oddly dressed- figure, hovering above the ground in what could only be a magical manner.
“Um… Hello?”
The figure gave a start. Then turned to the direction of the greeting. Curiously, as the speaker did not seem to convey a threat.
“Well, hello.”
Leaning down with a warm smile across her.. bill?
“Who are you?”
Not a demand, only a polite query to put the little face at ease. There wasn’t much she could make out besides a pair of peering eyes, not that Morgana was overly familiar with this universe anyway. As her then conundrum confirmed.
“Oh! I’m- I mean, my name is Tutu.”
Emerging from behind the wall, she bobbed a curtsy, then tilted her head curiously at the stranger. She appeared to be a duck- not that that was unusual in this kingdom. What was unusual- though not as unusual as a girl with wings- was her apparent display of magical powers.
“Might I ask what you’re doing here, my lady?”
“Morgana,” she corrected kindly, before addressing the question.
“I seek the rare Valerian rose. I came across some papers recently which suggested it may be found in this world…” Another glance around the beautiful sprawling gardens. “However I seem to have been mistaken.”
Disappointing, to say the least. Perhaps she should have stuck with WitchBay…
“The Valerian rose… ?” Tutu repeated.“Mmm… I’m sorry, I don’t believe that grows here… but it does sound familiar. Um.. Oh!”
She perked up, clapping her wings together lightly. “Maybe I read about it in the library! Perhaps you could find something about it in there?”
“Oh that’d be marvellous, thank you!” Was there anything better than exploring new knowledge? “Are you sure it won’t be any trouble?”
As in, are you sure I won’t be any trouble, wandering on in? No townsfolk with pitchforks?
“I am the terror that flaps in the night! I am the memory that made your childhood! I am Darkwing Duck!”

☃ Has your muse ever built a snowman? (Was it ‘traditional’, or ‘unique’?)
“A snowman? Do you mean a.. a yeti? Well no, I’ve not built one per se, but certainly had tea with one, does that count?”
“Oh! Yetis are pretty sweet when they are not hungry. But I meant a sculpture made of snow.” Lexi grinned. “I made a snow wolf once! It was really hard to get the ears to stay on though, hehe.”
“A sculpture? Of snow?” Morgana considered this for a moment. It sounded beautiful, however there was something she didn’t understand.
“But.. why?”
Was it a golem? A portal to a snow kingdom? A storm obelisk?
“For fun?” Lexi grinned shyly. “I had to clear the snow away from the coops and stable anyway, so making snowballs helped get it out of the way faster. I mean, sure, I could cast a wind spell to clear it, or melt it, or even levitate and teleport it now, but when I was a kid, I used tools and my hands.” Ramble ramble.
“Oh! I see!”
Fun she understood, even if the Ghoulish definition did vary considerably from the Normal concept. For one, hitting tiny plastic disks around with huge sticks made utterly no sense to her, even if Gosalyn was so keen on it.
Better tiny plastic disks than the ancient and highly breakable Vases of Terror.
“Let me try.” While Lexi had specifically stated her preference for a hand-built snowman, the witch was more comfortable doing things her way. Which meant focusing, raising her hands and…
… nothing.
Until an ominous rumbling from above drew their attention to her creation, on a ridge above and about to fall towards them, of an unnaturally large snowball, about the size of a house.
“Um. Perhaps we should…”
Run?
The shorter duck’s violet eyes momentarily widened in alarm, but after looking around to gauge the effect the snowball would have on their surroundings, her eyes and hands began to glow with golden light. A fireball formed in front of her hands and shot up into the center of the snowball and shattered it. Yay! Now they were merely in danger of being squished by multiple car-sized chunks of snow instead of a snow house!
Lexi grabbed Morgana’s hand and teleported with her to a safe distance while the snow unmercifully clobbered and buried the cemetery headstones and landscaping. Lexi giggled and let go of Morgana to lean woozily against the fence.
“Nice spell! That would be great for putting out a wildfire!”
Ah, optimism.
“Not really the effect I was going for.”
Those chunks of snow were quite large. Thank goodness there were no other children in the area!
Speaking of children…
“Your magic is strong, young one.” Even with the noticeable after effect it seemed to be having. “Who was your teacher?”
“Madame Canterbury, and Mr. Hart.” Lexi replied, straightening with a bright smile. She went over to one of the splattered snowballs to see what texture the snow was. “Also my family helped me. My aunt Letitia Weyard. My parents, Azkadell and Evilene Calandrina. Uncle Sergiu. Cousins Matilda and Magica.”
She giggled. “Ooh, this snow is perfect for sculpting! Check it out!”
She packed a snowball and started rolling it to make it bigger. “Now we have a base for a mini snowman, hehe.”
She used a spell to warm her chilled hands and teleported some gloves from back home to put on.
A wave of a hand and Morgana too summoned some warmer winter wear. When in Rome.. or wherever there was regularly more snowfall.
Following the younger duck’s lead, she scooped up a clump of snow, and began packing it together.
“Oh! You’re right. This is quite satisfying!”
A giggle, and she let it fall. Fhump. And repeat. Maybe since she had the general idea, she could assist with this snow golem.
Except a runaway thought caught up to her, and gave her pause.
“I’m sorry, did you say.. Magica?”

*Has it been THAT long? Yeesh I need to get a watch. But then again…it’s not like I have a owl on hand or anything.Where do you even buy an owl?! I should just get her a phone or something.* Drake Mallard thought to himself as he tried to carefully talk his way out of this mess without getting turned into pudding! He shivered at the thought of being a desert again…
“L-Look Morgana, I’ve just been…busy! St. Canard’s going through a bit of a crime wave so i’ve been working longer than I usually do.” Not to mention trying to find some clues relating to a mysterious green blur that’s been robbing stores quicker than the eye could follow! But he left that part out…the last thing he wanted was for Morgana getting involved with that case!
“I didn’t have a lot of free time. I wanted to let you know I was alright but duty called. A-And it’s actually why I’m here right now!” Clearing his throat, Darkwing duck did his best to appear suave, sophisticated and gentlemanly!
“Thanks to my hard-work, the streets have been quiet lately. So, naturally, i thought it’d be the perfect time to ask you, my fair lady, out on a date! To make up for my long absence…”
He didn’t mean it. That she knew. It was nonetheless hard to come second to capers and cases, to have her own capability overlooked because he was set on doing everything on his own.
So stubborn! So patronising! So.. so.. him.
Yet, for all that, she still found herself asking,
“What precisely did you have in mind?”
It would have to be quite a date to make up for such treatment. Hamburger Hippo would not cut it.

It was a bright, ordinary day. With people out in their bright, ordinary yards, going for bright, ordinary walks, talking to bright, ordinary trees.
Wait, what?
“Archie, I’ve told you.” A lady in a rather creepy red gown was saying to the upper branches. “I promise the new neighbours won’t overdo the bug spray. This time.”
A grumbling, spluttering noise came in reply. Oh, she was talking to a spider. That was much more ordinary.
⊱🎀⊰ —huh. now, savie had heard of people talking to flowers- asking if they had enough water or perhaps had a sunburn. but… trees?
one of the faults of having poor vision is that you couldn’t exactly see well from far away, therefore the spider went unnoticed. maybe this tree had super special powers or… or you really could talk to trees!

DW’s quick thinking had saved his goose from being cooked! He managed to duck as the lightning bolt passed by…but the umbrella and flowers weren’t so lucky. So much for gifts….
“Um…Is…now a bad time? You could have just said no…”Drake gulped, standing up on his feet again and dusting himself off.
“Darkwing Duck.” Like a scolding parent, the imposing figure of Morgana loomed over him. “How many moons has it been since we last met, and I have not heard a word from you! Not a message, not a letter, not even an owl!”
Because he knew how to use those, sure.
“You could’ve died for all I knew, and you expect to just pfoof back into my life like a spontaneously reappearing Nyarlathotep?”
Hurt and worry. Two key ingredients for a big bowl of anger - or pudding, if he didn’t step carefully.
