As much as she was sick of being in the hospital, Elliot wasn’t yet ready to leave. She knew that leaving meant she was okay and cleared to go, but she still wasn’t going to be able to do much on her own, leaving Morgan to basically be her personal servant for a little. No nurse was going to come to her bed side every time she needed something, or check in on her just about every hour. Elliot didn’t want that to have to be Morgan’s responsibility. She didn’t want to annoy her with it. It was known that Morgan was going to be completely okay with it, and probably be more annoying about checking up on her than the nurses were, but it was still a tiny fear in the back of her mind. Sitting in her own clothes for the first time, Elliot watched the silenced TV as she waited for her girlfriend to arrive and take her back to her house. Somewhere she dramatically would say she forgot what it looked like. Soon enough, Morgan walked in and Elliot smiled over her, glad to see her. For the first time since starting their relationship, it had been a normal thing for them to see each other every single day. The circumstances sucked, of course, but it was at least nice to spend almost every second together and never get sick of the other. Elliot nodded and looked up to the girl, reaching her head up to press a tiny kiss to her lips. “Yeah, get me out of this place, I’m starting to go crazy, I’ve been seeing my girlfriend every single day and I’m convinced it’s not real,” she joked, holding onto Morgan as she lowered into the wheelchair. Sitting with a tiny huff, Elliot shrugged. She didn’t care much about how she left or what happened in the process of leaving, as long as she was going to get into the car and head home with her girlfriend by her side. “It’s okay,” she began, offering a small smile. “It’s not really a big deal to me. It’s obvious I’m here, not much to hide, you know? The pictures don’t mean much. Just as long as it isn’t overwhelming and you’re with me, I’ll be okay.” She knew that the paparazzi were always insane when it came to taking photos. Each entrance was most likely going to be swarmed with cameras. They weren’t going to get away without a single one being taken. But hopefully reassuring Morgan was enough to keep her irritation at bay.
“Don’t worry, I’m totally a figment of your imagination right now, surprise!” She joked back, letting out a breath she hadn’t realised she was holding. She returned Elliot’s smile, looking at her in wonder. “How did I get so lucky with you?” She asked. Half the time, Morgan couldn’t handle the full extent of the cameras and shouting that could follow her around, and like her manager liked to tell her when she complained, it was just part of her job. If she wanted to be as successful as she was, she had to put up with people wanting to know every inch of her life. It was her least favourite part about her career. And yet, here was Elliot, seemingly so calm and accepting of it, when it wasn’t her burden to carry. Although, she knew if she said that out loud, she would get an eye roll and to be told that it didn’t matter anymore, that they were in it all together. As she pushed the chair down the corridor, she felt relief wash over her. Since Elliot had been in hospital, she had an underlying feeling of anxiety, worrying that something could go wrong, that she’d have her girlfriend taken away from her, but now that they were leaving, she felt like a weight was being lifted off her chest. Using the other exit, she could see a few people around it, however it was barely a fraction of the other door. Gripping the handle with one hand, she reached down with the other and squeezed Elliot’s shoulder, hoping it would be reassuring as the cameras went off. Keeping her head down, Morgan carried on, walking over to where she had parked the car. She helped Elliot into it, before quickly running the chair back to the reception. Finally sitting in her car, she leant over, pressing a quick kiss to her cheek. “Are you ready to go home?” She asked, excitedly, both because Elliot was getting to go home, and because they were going home together, for the first time in their relationship they were going to spend every day together, without a looming deadline to when the other had to leave.
