Tips for photo shoots

On a budget and need to know how to create professional images? Read below to assist you with tips to start modeling today!

1. Research college or photography workshops in your home town.

2. Contact them and speak to the person in charge

3. Ask if advanced students require a model for assignments

4. Send 2 - 3 of your best images of yourself to assist advance photography students with selecting you. Do not send, snap chat images, sexy photo’s anything that does not place you in a good light.

5. Follow up to inquire if any photographer is interested in using you.

Real Model vs Aspiring Model

One of the biggest mistakes a model can make when beginning her model journey is: not starting they’re career right and this is done by not having professional pictures. For example if you want to hire a professional make up artist the first thing you would look for is they’re work.

Well, it’s the same thing for models. How is anyone going to take you serious or book you to sell they’re product, clothing or anything if you do not have professional pictures? 

Check out some helpful tips to getting started:

1. Google fashion photographer/s in your area. Make sure they specialize in fashion. Not a wedding photographer, not a family photographer but a FASHION photographer!

2. List 5 photographers, websites and email address.

3. Send each photographer an email asking what they’re model photo shoot rate/ price is and if that includes a make up artist and or a stylist also ask do you have to supply your own clothing.

4. Now you have an idea of where to start!

Having what it takes as a model is one of the first steps towards entering into this business. But ask yourself: do you have the right photos? Can you draw clients or agents with them? BECOME A MODEL!

So you want to model huh? But then the next question comes to mind, where do I start? Modeling can be fun! It can introduce you to people, it can capture your face around the world or in your hometown. There is no one way to start within this industry but one simple step can help you determine the type of model you should be. 1. Have a friend take your height measurement. Write down your height. There!

2. If you are under 5′8 you are a commercial model, if you are over 5′8 you are a fashion model!

3. Take body measurements: Bust, Waist, Hips, Shoe size, know your dress size. Armed with info will help you answer the first simple questions when getting started!
