I am creator first, everything else second whether through drawing, painting, or graphically. I consider myself a colorist because I enjoy using highly saturated color to recreate the story being told in my work. I am a very diversified artist and the site showcase all of my many talents.

Social Marketing Strategies

Coming into this class, I was excited to learn about different marketing strategies as it pertains to social media. I knew that brands have specific markets that they target too. However, I did not know about the rules of engagement to make sure that your target audience does not rule your business out. The biggest part of social media marketing is understanding that its focus should be on people. Customers respond better when they feel they a direct and more open relationship with a business. Social media provides that.

I learned that number one strategy to master is to engage with your audience! Have a plan of attack to know how to respond to both positive and negative feedback. I would like to further develop on how companies handle negative feedback from customers and other competitors. I have seen clap backs between competitors on social media and am not sure if that is proper business etiquette or is acceptable because it is part of the culture of social media.

In addition, I would love to learn more about the measurements of social media data and trends through key point indicators. My goal is to versus completely in the different roles and task of social media marketing to be fully prepared in order to have a successful social media campaign for Morgan Welch Art, Inc. and to avoid as many risks as possible. Social media is a part of our world I want to embrace it as a part of my business in order to grow and maintain my client base.

My business is all about visuals and being able to create artwork that my customers want in order to increase my capital. I promote a lot of my business on my social media pages which is why this course is essential to growing my business and gaining more customers that are not in my home area.

Beyond the Canvas

Have you ever stared at a painting so long because you wanted to know the meaning behind the paint marks? I am about telling stories through my paintings. Starting at the age of four creativity was my passion. Finding a way to share a story visually with using words is so powerful. With over 20 years now of experience, I continue to challenge myself to tell my story and the stories of others in her paintings. My paintings are so much more than such color on a page. So here I share my story.

The great things about art are that the stories being told by the artist may not be what the viewer sees and that it okay. Art is up for interpretation. It is meant to grab your attention--good, bad or indifferent. Art should be a discussion; it is a form of expression and entertainment that should be celebrated and criticized at the same time.

This oil on canvas painting was created about a year ago and has been shown in sell art shows and galleries to a wide variety of people including men and women as well as people of all races. What comes to mind when you see this work? Does it affect you? What is the story you get from it? How long did it take you to figure out your story or interpretation? 

Art can be defined as the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination that produces works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power. Art can be whatever it wants to be, it is just that powerful. What’s most important is how the viewer is moved by it.

Check out my documentary that I shot and edited myself for my media literacy class. Its a very interesting piece on the Baltimore Afro American newspaper, that is still own by the Murphy Family going through four different generations. They have been around for 121 years, its a great piece of African American history good for all to watch. I hope you enjoy! So please watch and support!

Notre Dame’s Clothesline Project is part of a national campaign to build awareness and bear witness to violence against women and girls. At Notre Dame, it is a collaborative service learning project for students, who prepare by conducting T-shirt message-designing workshops for women at the Maryland Correctional Institution for Women. The messages on the T-shirts are created by women who are survivors of violence, or in honor of loved ones harmed by violence. The T-shirts are emblazoned with a statistic about the number of women and girls who suffer at the hands of violence. The Clothesline Project is supported by Notre Dame’s women’s studies minors program, psychology department, history/political science department, campus ministry, counseling center and student development division.
