The area of the forest were silent, nothing but the whistling of a gentle breeze. That is until a figure ran through the grass and jumped into the air. There are things Alexandra will do that are normally frowned upon and trying to train in the forest when there's no teacher around is one of them but she loved it. She loved the way the wind would make the flaps of her coat fly in the wind, the way she felt whenever she grasped her weapon.

She pulled out a short pole from her coat and it instantly lengthened into it's hammer form. "Alright! Temperatura: Congelo!" 

Alexandra slammed the face of the hammer down onto the ground and instantly the green grass of the forest turned into a wide arc of slick ice, an unnatural chilly chill in the air. 

"Yes, yes, yes! It's getting better! I'll be able to defeat enemies faster than ever an-" She immediately froze, feeling a presence. Someone was here other than her; the young girl turned around...and collapsed on the floor, tears welling up in her eyes. 

"Pe-Pe-Pe-PEOPLE?! I'M SORRY, SO SORRY! I just wanted to train and please don't tell my teachers about this, I'll get into so much trouble!" 

She didn't really want to get caught.

"I never did say that there was a joke in the first place, right? I just thought there was, therefore what you say is invalidated.”

"...Touche. But to think someone was insulting, that would make your ego look rather weak, doesn't it?"

"My name is Leon Fayette. I'm a reaper training here at this school." He crossed his arms after. "I guess that's why your appearance was rather...suspicious. No reaper is dressed like that nor do they proclaim themselves as a god."

Marisa blinked, turning towards the other. “Huh? This?” She pointed at the machines, which were clanking on their own. “I was just wonderin’ what that noise was. Sorry.” She stepped away.

So she wasn't the cause of it, or at least the direct cause, now he has a pretty good idea of what happened. 

"Alarm's at it again." He whistled and the machines stopped and coming from behind one was a silver lizard with bright red eyes. It crawled across the table and jumped onto the floor in robot-like fashion. It then crawled across the floor and climbed up Daichi, resting on his shoulder. "He's designed to sense concentrations of magic and activates all the machines in here when sensed. It's a defense mechanism mostly."

"It depends on how the joke is received."

"So then by reacting badly to it, you've proved you are the joke!"

Facial expression says it all, even add in words that escape one’s mouth. He could tell she didn’t actually find him trustworthy, but it was fine. She’s just what you could say another anonymous informant for him. If the time comes that she finds his true guise and declares him a threat though, he’ll bite her while she’s looking away like a snake stalking his prey before killing it.

Turning back, he decided it be best to cut this conversation short as others would eavesdrop if ever this conversation continues further but he’d need more contact than just a name. Could she have a phone or some sort? Any places they could meet up for exchange? Well, might as well ask before leaving.

"Say, you have any phone or places we can deal with? I’m eager to know more about this city here."

"Yeah I think I have a cellphone on me." Hotaru shuffled around in the pockets of her hoodie and pulled out a red flip-phone. She never used it, she had one much better, so he could keep it if he wanted to. It also could help her keep an eye on him; ectoplasm is the cant-see, cant-feel, cant-smell fluid but boy did it help kashas like herself keep track of things...and people as well.  

"If ya want phones other than this, " She started, handing the phone to him. "Try the city which is further up from here. The stores have 'em inside and I think the school where Sam goes to has them too."

   "For a moment there, I just thought some nerd told a bad joke that involves me. God, I sure am imagining a lot of shit lately."

"That’s my line…" A male’s voice replied to her. Out of the shadows came a man with black hair and a purple cape. He had a sword attached to the back of his waist and stood almost 6 feet tall.

"This is my territory, you aren’t welcomed here."

His territory? Last time she checked, Death didn't look like that. He must be a spirit confused, probably a great ruler and stuck in his time.

"Right..." Sam said with doubt, turned around fully to face him and found him towering over her. Yikes. Also she was welcomed here! Sorta. As long as she kept that under control and not killing more spirits instead of rogue souls. "I think you might have hit your head too hard in whatever incident you died in, sir. See, this is Death City and it's the home of dead spirits and those included in the art of necromancy and reaping such as reapers and kashas." 

She pointed downward. "I mean my school's down there! It's where I learn how to be a reaper and fight!"

Night had befallen Death City, the city of the underworld, the moon and streetlights scattered around the streets being some of the few light sources of illumination at this time. 

Sam walked down the sidewalk, passing shops that were still open. She barely went out at this time, mainly for the fact that it was against the rules of the academy but...something was calling her to come out. It was a gut feeling that disturbed her so much that it forced her to come out. 

"Oh man...Teacher is going to be so mad when he finds out I'm out this late." The young reaper sighed, running a hand through her hair. That is until she heard a noise and immediately tensed. 

It was a city, there were criminals of all sorts lurking in the shadows, it didn't matter to her. What mattered to her was what were they. She turned her head, behind her, keeping a steady hand on her scythe folded and attached to her belt. 

"Hm? Who's there?..."
