Herbal Grimoire Correspondences

This is from my personal grimoire that I am working on. It’s a list of most of the herbs I have, including their corresponding magickal properties. I have only edited a few of these, as well as added a few of my own. The rest (majority) I got directly from The Magickal Cat, which is also where I purchased these herbs.

These are to serve as a reference to build your own correspondences off of. I have included other names underneath some of the bolded names. These in no way have set-in-stone meanings NOR do I claim for these to be the only properties for these herbs and spices. I am developing my own use for them as well; so this is my rough draft, so to speak.

Let your intuition guide you!

Agrimony Root Overcoming fear and inner blockages; dispelling negative emotions. Also used for reversing spells. Sew into a dream pillow with Mugwort for best results. Use as a wash or oil to increase the effectiveness of all forms of healing rituals. Wards off evil entities and poison.

Alfalfa Leaf Lucerne, Buffalo Herb, Purple Medic Money, prosperity, anti-hunger. Put a small jar in the cupboard or pantry to ward off poverty and hunger. Burn in a cauldron and use the ashes in amulets for protection from hunger and poverty.

Allspice Jamaica Pepper Money, luck, healing, obtaining treasure. Provides added determination and energy to any spells and charms. Burn crushed allspice to attract luck and money. Use in herbal baths for healing.

Hag stones, also known as Holey Stones or Witch Stones are stones that have a naturally occurring hole and are usually found near oceans and other bodies of water. They are said to be powerful protection talismans, and when worn or carried they protect the bearer from curses, hexes, negative spirits, and harm. They have also been used to prevent nightmares, being strung on a bedpost or placed underneath pillows. It is also believed that if you peer through the hole of the stone that you can see the Fae Folk and otherworldly entities. If one broke, it is thought to have used its power to protect a life.

llamas are the only large mammal ever domesticated within the ancient americas, and the only non eurasian domesticable animal species in the world. like their evolutionary cousins the camel, llamas are intelligent and gregarious herbivores. but unlike the camel, they lack the strength to carry a human or pull a plough. 

when aggravated, over burdened or otherwise annoyed, llamas tend to hiss, spit, kick, and will refuse to move, often lying down in protest. but their high tolerance for thirst, appetite for a broad range of plants, and ability to travel up to twenty miles a day made them key to native american transport and communication throughout the andes. 

though domesticated by native americans more than 5,000 years ago, llamas, who are kept primarily for their wool and ability to fertilize the land, were never milked for human consumption. consequently, very few diseases have ever jumped species from llama to man, compared to the host of diseases which europeans inherited from living in close proximity to their livestock.

but geography ensured that the continent’s only load bearing mammal remained isolated, known only to the indigenous peoples of the andes. the inhospitable jungles of the panamanian isthmus and the deserts of south america kept llamas – and the inca – from ever reaching the aztecs, or beyond.
