Il Mago's Fabrication | Mori
"Why you say… well, why can mean a great many things, don’t you think? Why hide your talent, I assume is the question you’re asking but you could be asking why are you so chipper? Or why aren’t you worried someone will get you for this? Why " he steeples his fingers together and then tilts his head at him.
"But I digress." Nagisa clears his throat. "The ‘why’ in this case is rather simple. Because it’s easier. It’s easier to move around and get in people’s good books. Easier to be trusted. Maybe that sounds callous but not everyone has your heart, Mori-chin. A murderer that pleads you to look into a matter is not likely to be listened to… even a detective would be seen as perhaps, cold and dangerous… not that I can confirm having such talents but you get my point. There’s also the matter of the danger I’d put in if I told people anything. What I can do… well, let’s just say I imagine I’ll be very helpful - and it helps to have an ace in your hand, right?" he laughs but then looks up to the ceiling speaking in a slightly more hushed voice. "But Mori-chin you have to remember that I’m not your enemy here."
Mori blinks in bewilderment. Gosh, Yamanami-chan is always so confusing! But... given what they'd learned today, that seems to be the other boy's nature in general. It certainly does nothing to whet her curiosity, but when he mentions the word "injury", his hand darts instinctively to her face, gently tracing over a few of the slashes left behind by Aku-chan. Upon realizing that he had done so, she slowly lowers his hand.
"...dangerous?" she asks blankly. How could his attitude be dangerous? Wasn't it the polar opposite? "Mori doesn't really understand, but Mori is glad Yamanami-chan is okay."
She nods sagely, at first, but then more enthusiastically as Nagisa continues to speak. "Y-yes! Mori wants to--" Wait, what? In all truthfulness, those questions hadn't even occurred to the model before the other had risen them, like a necromancer conjuring bodies from the grave. Well... Mori always figured that Yamanami-chan was so happy because that's just how he was! Similar to how Mori was... or had been. Happiness is a bit more rare, these days. The fact that someone might target Nagisa for lying was also a new, and frankly scary, thought for the model.
Mori tilts her head right back at him, looking more and more perplexed as Nagisa speaks, his expression falling further and further. M-murderer...?! Of course, it's just an example, but... Gosh, no, Yamanami-chan wouldn't kill anyone! Though, she would've said the same of Min and Chinatsu...
He brings himself back, listening as Nagisa trails off. "Mori really does want to know, but if Yamanami-chan can't tell Mori, then Mori understands! And Mori doesn't know what Yamanami-chan can do, but Mori bets that Yamanami-chan will be very helpful!" She examines the boy's expression as he stares toward the ceiling, but he doesn't have long to think on what it could mean before he speaks once more, catching her completely off guard. "Mori doesn't think that at all, though!" he insists, almost pouting at the seeming accusation.
