I can't believe I didn't realize until this very moment that "rednecks" now advocate for "back the blue" when I remember rednecks are supposed to be the ones who HATE cops the MOST. I recall rednecks standing their ground and trespassing officers for being on private property. Last I recall rednecks were the most likely to fight cops in any way possible and throw things at officers. I thought rednecks would still fight tooth and nail over a cop harassing their neighbor even if the neighbor deserved it. What changed? 😐
...Oh yeah, racism and "anti-liberal" views.
A Meditation Idea :
You see around you a field of lush green grass, flourishing trees, flowers of every characteristic, and the warm soft rays of the sun kissing your skin. You take note of the equally lush and gorgeous fauna around you, all of the insects and wildlife living their personal lives parallel to your own.
Slowly you realize your energy is attracting millions of butterflies gently and lovingly landing on your soul filling you with a warm soft energy. You are covered in more butterflies than you can count, each one absorbing your old unwanted energy, transmutation it into florescent pigments.
With one big breath of your lungs the butterflies scatter gracefully taking all that was no longer useful to you and painting a dreamy landscape in the atmosphere with their breathtaking beauty.
My Favorite RKS Lyrics
• " I Don't Believe That Anybody's God Ever Felt This Way; 'Cuz If They Did, They Never Would've Made Me; They'd Say 'Hell No, Wake Me Up At Ten Tomorrow, For My Sake, Keep The Volume Down Please' "
• " Fuck Don't Tell Me You're Fine All The Time; It'll Get In My Head In A Bad Way, Babe; Don't Let It Creep In Your Mind, You'll Go Blind That Way; And That's A Madness That Breaks Faith "
• " Growing Up A Preacher Was Always Just A Dream; All You Ever Needed Were Lies You Could Believe; Sing Them To Me Sweetly "
• " Not The Same, We Hurt Differently, But Consistent In Our Pain; Equal And Equidistant In The Way We Laugh Til We Bare The Weight Of Our Cold Love Affair "
• " I Don't Wanna Die Alone, But I Don't Wanna Die At All; I'm Not Gonna Keep You By The Phone Dear, Hang Up When You've Had Enough; ... ; All Is Well That Ends Well, But All Is Well That Ends "

Winter Solstice 2024
It is cold and it is dark, but the Winter Solstice brings the promise of light's return and the warming of our world. To celebrate this most important day, we feature a naturally-dyed wool weaving entitled Náhookǫsji Hai (Winter in the North) / Biboon Giiwedinong (It is Winter in the North) held at the Minneapolis Institute of Art (MIA) and produced by Navajo artist D. Y. Begay in 2018. This image, which is only a portion of the slightly larger work, is from our copy of the exhibition catalog Hearts of Our People: Native Women Artists edited by Jill Ahlberg Yohe and Teri Greeves (Kiowa) and published by the MIA in association with the University of Washington Press in 2019.
D.Y. Begay (b. 1953), a Navajo born to the Totsohni’ (Big Water) Clan and born for the Tachinii’ (Red Running into Earth) Clan, is a fourth-generation weaver. Begay’s tapestries encompass her interpretation of the natural beauty and descriptive colors of the Navajo reservation, reflecting on her Navajo identity and her family’s weaving tradition. This spiritual connection to the plants yields the natural colors that are transformed into evocative land formations on her loom. Of the weaving shown here, Jennifer McLerran, curator at the Museum of Northern Arizona and a retired assistant professor of art history at Northern Arizona University, writes:
Most of D. Y. Begay's textiles respond to the Southwest landscape in which she was raised and resides today. For this work, a textile produced with all-natural dyes and handspun wool, Begay traveled to Minnesota in the depths of winter to observe the land surrounding the Grand Portage Indian Reservation of the Ojibwe people. Over an extended period she observed changing light conditions as the sun and clouds moved across the sky, altering the hues of snow and water.

We wish you a most serene Winter Solstice.

On the run from sleep
** Massive Depression TW **
There are weeds in my mind
The ones that repeat the same hurt over and over and over again, making itself home in the walls of my cranium
The ones who's roots go beyond my flesh and consciousness into time itself keeping me stuck in places I would not wish on even the most deserving of souls
The ones who suffocate any semblance of myself, my humanity, my memories, my life, all to fuel itself.
I suffocate
For years I've trimmed and cut them back never able to find the bulb they sprouted from
Over time, my shears rust
But the weeds keep growing. They spread and spread until they suck every last resource I have, they take and take and take until there's nothing left for me. Until I'm dead.
There are no new shears for me yet.
But they cannot win. I refuse to give up control.
As a last resort, in my panic for control, watching the roots that have embed themselves deep within me and have strangled the very veins that carry life through my flesh, clinging to all that makes me human, all I can find . . .
Is pesticides.
The leaves turn brown. The roots shrivel up into dust.
And with a sigh of relief the remnants of all that tore me apart, what choked my heart and strangled anything that was necessary to give me life; 𝘽𝙡𝙤𝙬𝙨 𝙖𝙬𝙖𝙮.
. . .
Tainted soil. I have killed the pain but the soil I cherish and feed from is tainted. It is not the same. Now the poison soaks into the place I must rely on to be whole. To be me. To really LIVE. But the poisons not quite enough to kill the bulb.
The bulb planted somewhere I will never find.
Until I find it the weeds will come back.
Again.
And again.
And again.
And again.
I should invest in more shears.
♡ If You Struggle To Keep A Notebook Or Journal; I Have Some Tips!! ♡
• STOP TRYING TO ORGANIZE. It doesn't matter how organized your journals are. You can't take on the task of building the habit, Keeping It Organized, Keeping Your Thoughts Organized Enough To Organize Them Into A Journal, Ect. All at once!! Just WRITE. Doesn't have to even be coherent or spelled write. Just PUT IT IN THE NOTEBOOK.
• START OUT SIMPLE. You're not being graded. Don't treat it like an assignment! Just write however feels right to you. It's YOUR journal, it should be a reflection of the mess in your mind you're trying to untangle. Not a school presentation.
• STUCK? TRY WORD VOMITING. Literally just write. Obviously you can take breaks, but just write down words. They can be related or not. It can be phrases, lyrics, single words, jokes, something you heard, a sentence you like, a sentence that bothers you, ALL OF IT. You can either just write it plain or have fun, doodle, add color, just don't TRY. It should be effortless and mindless.
• OBVIOUSLY you can't make all your journaling dreams come true in one day, even a week, and YOU'RE NOT GONNA DO IT EVERY DAY. You don't have to. Just do it when you need.

No, we're not soulmates. This is not divine intervention. And this is most certainly not chance. I willed this. I knit the threads of fate myself until they spelled your name.
I love you intentionally. I love you with every bit of conscience I was born with.
