It all happened within an instant. The door was kicked open, and confetti was thrown everywhere as the lights to Morti’s room were turned on.
“M-MmMorti! Look alive!”
Rick was obviously incredibly drunk, and the fact that he wasn’t at all referencing his absence was alarming, to say the least. He was clearly very riled up about something, but whatever that something was, wasn’t clear.
“Alright so here’s what we’re doing Morti, I’m gonna need you tto pay absssolute-absolute attention here, it’s important!” Sitting at the corner of Morti’s bed, pulling out various pieces of mechanical equiment from god knows where. “So important Morti, shit you wouldn’t believe!” Once all of the equipment was set up, he looked at Morti quizzically, then shook his head as he snatched her 3DS from it’s charging port. “C-c-c’mon Morti, I can’t be doin’ all of this myself! You’ve go-oooOOo-gotta stay with me here. It’s AMAZING. The multiverse is at a crisis point, Morti, a CRISIS POINT! Y’know what that is Morti? Are you comprehending the magnitude of the Crisis Point? I-I mean, it’s not like I’m tellin’ a riddle here with that, Morti. Crisis Point. A point in which we are at Crisis. Which of those new Pokemon did you like again? EeuuuUURRP.”
Blinking a few times, Rick shook his head, adjusting his shades before plugging the 3DS into his machine, and pressing a button. Both the machine and the 3DS started to expel steam, and after a few short minutes, a burst of light ripped through the room. Once it was done…

“…Y-y’know I was half tempted to shout something like ‘EUREKA’ at this revelation b-bu…but I-I-I’m not really feelin’ it here honestly. Not what I woulda gone with Morti, not what I woulda gone with at all. God, look at it. Wha-what’s it doing with it’s neck?? Jeeeeez, some of us don’t have the strongest of constitutions buddy, y-y’know that? Do you even care?” He huffed, leaning back on the bed as he observed the creature flit about. “No, ‘course you don’t. Look at this, your Pokemon’s a jackass Morti, you proud of yourself?”
Well, so much for sleep. It was ass-o-clock in the morning and Morticia had only just bothered to sleep about an hour or two before. So sue her, it was the weekend. Groaning, she pulls the covers up over her head to protect herself from the suddenly bright room, but she knows it’s not going to protect her for long. Before she can think to roll over or attempt to ignore things she drags herself up into a sitting position, cocooning herself in covers to stare blurry-eyed at her intruder. “G-grandpa Rick?” It was the sort of tired grumble any teenager just woken up might take, but laced with confusion. Rick’s been “Out” for a while now, not that it’s exactly new but this time.... Morti rubbed at her eyes as Rick started explaining, sitting down on her bed. None of it really stuck, but it was something he seemed really excited about. She had half a mind to think this was just a dream, but Rick barging in for some Science crap in the middle of the night after no word for.... months? That seemed way to (unfortunately) familiar to think for a second this was just her imagination. As he was setting things up Morti finally found herself waking up some, unwrapping herself to try getting a better look at things. She shares the questioning look when glanced at, but she seemed more confused than anything. When he reaches for her DS, however, she snaps. “H-hey you- rick- no-rick, put that- give that back!” She reaches out for it, remembering the last time he took it she didn’t get it back for weeks. It’s a fairly useless endeavor, though, and she’s suddenly taken aback by her grandfather’s ramblings. “C-crisis point? r-r-rick w-what the hell are- what the heck are you going on about? what- what does this gotta do- why do you need m-my ds? C-can’t you, you have one don’t you? Use yours for the c-cr- the whatever you’re talking about!- Wait, Pokemon what-?” Talking over her grandpa she didn’t exactly catch most of what he said, pawing for the DS, frowning and sitting back at the question. What.... Pokemon? She liked Psyduck but that wasn’t a new pokemon by a long shot. The fuck was he going on about this time- And then steam starts filling the room, and Morti is absolutely dumbfounded at the machine. Despite taking minutes it seems like no time at all before it does something, and that something has her screaming. “AAAAHHHHHHHHH- w-what-wHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO RICK? WH-WHAT IS THAT RICK? WHY- WHY I IT IN M-MY ROOM? WHAT THE HELL- THE FUCK IS THAT- THE FUCK RICK!” It’s hard to say why she was screaming, or why she now had her back pressed to the wall trying to scoot further away from the creepy, but ‘harmless’, looking owl with a little bowtie. She vaguely hears what Rick is saying, but catches the last bit. “M-my pokemon? MY POKEMON? I d-didn’t ask for a pokemon! D-do, do you have any idea w-what that thing can, what that- that... R-r-rowlet can do?” She was pleased with herself for remembering the name of the pokemon, considering she’s been trying to avoid Sun and Moon spoilers. If only she could remember test answers under pressure like this. Still cowering she watches the little owl from the bed. If she wasn’t running on such little sleep, or had Rick brought her lovable dumbass duck into existence, she’d probably be a lot calmer, probably even excited, about this. At this rate, it’ll be lucky if she didn’t wake up half the house already.
