this is the choreography/dance blog for @p4stm4rs

i just wanted to make a blog where i could talk about dance and choreography as much as i wanted to and also have a place to start building up my image as a choreographer

i have been doing this for a while but still have a lot of room to grow and i recognize that, that being said please still be respectful and recognize that choreography is an ever-evolving process and that not everyone has the same style and preferences

so! this year for the winter dance concert (my last year) i’ve got two dances i’m in and choreographed.

the first is called the dancing plague and it’s about exactly that. our movement is imitative and cultish and it is honestly one of my fav dances i’ve ever been a part of. it’s to last living soul’s by gorillaz

the second one is a duet called same/different and it’s about two trans guys (initially closeted) who don’t realize they’re each dealing with the same thing. conflicts arise over and over again but it comes from them both being scared of letting each other in. through one coming out, the other finds courage, and they both realize that they’ve understood each other all along. it’s to lovesong by the cure.

the concert’s theme is decades so the dancing plague was for medieval mass hysteria and same/different is the 80s with the song being by the cure.

i am fucking angry right now. i think i will channel that into the most attention grabbing and fucking Weird choreo that i will use to audition for college conservatories later this year

WE DID IT!!! ROOTS OF WILDFLOWERS (THE PIECE TO IN THE GARDEN BY RED VOX) HAS BEEN PERFORMED ON THE MAINSTAGE!!! WITH INCREDIBLE LIGHTING AND EVERYTHING!!!!! genuinely one of my favorite pieces i’ve ever done and i’m so happy i got to perform it finally and with such an incredible dance partner <3 going to miss dancing with her a lot next year because she’s a senior :( but i’m glad we got to do this duet especially because it’s about friendship and being forced to grow apart

currently working on a duet to in the garden by red vox for my school’s winter dance concert and i am struggling a little like i gotta be half way by next class and currently we only have one minute and 22 seconds

forgot to give an update that this dance is finished! has been for months, but my dance partner for this dance had an injured shoulder night of and it got moved to our spring concert so we still have yet to officially perform it. but honestly i’m not mad because now we have more time to work on it and we get to do it on the main stage!

tomorrow i think i’m going to do an improv exercise to if god didnt want us to worms then why did he make them cylindrical

the exercise will be dancing with a specific character in mind (the character will be gl!ranboo because my friend and i have been slow at choreographing the genloss dance and i want to at least do something with dance and genloss)
