Bella shrugged her shoulders lightly. “I mean, yeah, it is kind of hard at times, but with some work you get the hang of it. And yes! It helps with their agility.”
“So it’s one of those it gets easier the more you do it sort of activities?”
“I come from a nice little family of eccentric names. It’s not the worst place I’ve been. I’m just waiting for someone to try to stab me so I can break their arm.”
“You should have come two months earlier. It was insane here with the ‘villains’ changing the rules...”
“I believe men can be in it. I mean, I really don’t see why not! You thinking about joining?”
“I’ve heard ballet is, like, hardcore. Even some football players learn it just to be better players. Maybe it could better me in some way.”
Roxanne really did love Powerline. She listened to him all day every day. Any kind of mood. He was her go to musician. “Interesting. He is perfection.”
“Perfection...” Moses said softly. “I don’t know if I believe that human kind can be perfect. I feel that is a title only He can claim.”
She eyed him carefully,trying to understand his motives behind the compliment. “I’m Nebula.”
“Nebula? Never heard that name before. Eccentric names seem to be a thing around NDC. So... how do you like it here?”
“Well thank you. You aren’t too bad yourself.”
“Thank you! I appreciate that. So tell me more about this ballet program! Can men be in it too?”
“I know you were. I wasn’t I really don’t like scary movies. I will have nightmares for weeks on end. It’s really a hassle.” Her eyes grew wide and she reached into her bag whipping out her phone and earphones. “Listen to my one true love Powerline.” She said handing him a earphone.
Moses chuckled a bit at her reaction to his question. He took the earphone and placed it in his ear; listening careful. “Interesting...” he said, strumming the keys gently, trying to match the song.
“You’re right, I don’t want your pity. I don’t need nor want to meet better people. I’m perfectly fine with doing things on my own and being on my own.”
“Strong, independent woman. I like that. My name’s Moses. What’s yours?”
“Yeah, they are. Real scary. And I don’t like them. At all. I’m that person who screams real loud.” She nodded, her face real serious. “I don’t know. I’m always partial to Powerline. My one true love.”
“I was being sarcastic, Roxanne,” Moses said with a small laugh. “What’s Powerline? Is that a band?”
Bella laughed and shook her head. “I wouldn’t blame you if you did. There are times when I probably act like that.”
“Well I haven’t seen that so far. You seem like a nice person to me!”
“Thanos would hate the idea of us all having a nice family holiday where we give gifts and love one another. I don’t know a lot of people in general. The constants in my life would be my father, Thanos, and Gamora, neither one of them I care for. There was someone else but he died like people do. He wasn’t a great person himself though so it’s not a big deal.”
“I would say I’m sorry to hear that, but you seem like the kind of person who doesn’t like to hear that stuff from anyone. But uh... I’m sure you’ll meet better people at NDC.”
“Hm, that and my dad and I are really close, so yeah…” She giggled. “And thank you. I think?”
“No need to give thanks. I was just making sure it didn’t seem like I was calling you a spoiled princess.”
“Never celebrated it. I just know what I’ve seen. Doesn’t sound like my type of holiday. I’m rather watch the people in my life burn than do something nice for them.”
“It’s not for everyone. I’m guessing you don’t know a lot of good people then?”
“I don’t even know what I was expecting. But okay, that sounds like fun. No scary movies though, I don’t like scary movies, they scare me. I mean I know they are supposed to scare you but I don’t like it…” She looked up and smiled. “Are you going to play some more?”
“Scary movies are scary?” Moses gasped playfully, “I never would have guessed!” He laughed a bit more before placing his hands on the keys. “Any requests?”
“Cute?” She asked, hesitating, before blushing even more. “God, shut up!!”
Moses laughed. “I didn’t peg you as the gets embarrassed easily type. But at least you don’t look miserable like you did when I first showed up.”
