In China’s Hebei province, you can stay at the Tianzi Hotel which is shaped like three Chinese deities.
Tianzi loosely translates to Son of Heaven The Tianzi Hotel was built sometime between 2000 and 2001. The three gods represent figures dating all the way back to the Ming Dynasty. The guy in blue is Shou, and he’s associated with longevity. The one is red is Fu, and he’s associated with fortune. The guy in green is Lu, and he’s associated with prosperity. The entire body of each is a hotel building, and the rooms go all the way up. #brutgroup photo by @bratosiewicz https://www.instagram.com/p/CTPnsZisCg0/?utm_medium=tumblr

At the beginning of the book, a map shows the location of each of the buildings described. The socialist modernist landmarks included in this volume have been organized by function, into six sections. The book contains the authors’ view on Hungarian modernist architecture.

Any thoughts? #BRUTgroup Photo unknown https://www.instagram.com/p/CbiW8CjMWc-/?utm_medium=tumblr
Ok, this is one I'm hesitant to share, which is all the more reason why I want to put it out there! Y'all write to me with some vulnerable and honest questions and it inspires me to want to be more vulnerable and honest myself.
I drew this image a couple of years ago when my anxiety was at an all time high. My thoughts would just race from morning to night (and throughout the night!). So I decided to create a few pieces that really "rolled around" in that anxiety. Lots of crosshatching and lots of scattered thoughts. I wanted this drawing to look like how I felt- overwhelmed!
Do you ever feel like this? Like your mind is racing and it can't be stopped? I find a lot of comfort in embracing the racing thoughts. Pouring all of them into a single drawing like this felt a lot better than trying to "stop" the thoughts or worse, beat myself up for even having them. There are some "dark" thoughts written in the piece and it felt good to put them on paper and take some of their power away. Why complicate things by feeling bad about how you're feeling?
It's all fear. These days, I still have plenty of fears, but I'm less fearful of having fears and what they might mean. I used to think I was a freak! Now I try to befriend my fears- it's working a lot better than ignoring them.
P.S. Shout out to Jet's Pizza from Detroit!
