AU where Baelor survives the blow to his head, but becomes blind bc of it. Maekar is now his Hand and his Eyes (and his shadow, for he never leaves his side)

some details about this au under the cut : Maekar is captured (during a rebellion? by random lord(s)?) and tortured. Physically, the torture includes: flesh slicing, nail plucking, drugging him, breaking bones, cutting fingers (hands or feet), pulling out teeth or even one eye etc...
Mentally, they torture him saying people think he's dead and that he is a burden and no one will come to save him… they claim they caught Baelor, torturing him too but they will be merciful with the heir of the throne if Maekar is agree to take the torture they planned for him as well… of course he agrees :( There is no real question, it is mostly pure cruelty (he is not SA tho, thanks the gods!).
it lasts one week, until he's saved by his brother & men. They found him inert & still, and Baelor thinks they arrived too late, but they heard a gasp & see a purple iris. He is alive!
During the next 2 weeks, they are unable to travel back: bc of his wounds, his multiple broken bones, Maekar is untransportable + the drug they made him take to talk is still in his body and the abrupt withdrawal is another week of suffering. In his deliriums, he begs Baelor & the Maesters to let him die.
Once he regains his senses, he realized he is no more who he was. Maekar defines himself as a warrior and fighter. Now, without good hands, unable to walk without support, he falls into despair (+ of course daily nightmares & PTSD).
Baelor sees himself as the responsible bc Maekar was captured on a journey to join him after he requested his lil brother's presence. He doesn't leave his side, reassures him, says it changes nothing (even if Maekar see all of this as pity). Of course, Baelor wants to declare war to the Lord(s) that tortured his brother.
Their father, King Daeron II agrees with the feeling, but he fears the escalation. He prefers diplomatic compensations to maintain the stability and fragile Peace of the whole Kingdom.
No need to say Baelor becomes batshit crazy at the conversation: "Maekar is still alive. We will not go to war." "They tortured him! They mutilated him!!" "I know, but i will not start a war for that!" "For 'that'??!! If it was me instead of him, you woudn't hesitate a second!!"
SO, step into the ring dark!Baelor >:) Any person speaking badly of his brother is punished. He decides to send his best spies to find every person present (from the kitchen maid to the Maester of the Lord's castle) during his brother's ordeal, because they KNEW and did Nothing to stop his agony.
The Lord(s) + anyone involved are found. Baelor doesn't mind getting his hands covered in blood for Maekar (but very discreetly - the Prince knows how to be careful). Maekar is not aware of this scheme (for now), he simply tries to find his new place.
Maekar is nicknamed The Broken Dragon -he uses a beautiful cane (Aerys' idea, Rhaegel designs the knob, Baelor adds the blade), keeps training up but with difficulties and never smiles fully now to hide his teeth.
And yet, Baelor still thinks he's the most beautifull thing <3
